Yes Call Me Baby has kind of a retro sound to it. The reason is because Teddy Riley was a main producer at SM (their company) - he worked on MJ's Dangerous album and was the main guy responsible for the New Jack Swing style of the early 90s. Btw, the choreo was done by Nappytabs - Napoleon and Tabitha from So You Can Think You Can Dance competition show.
Fun fact SM never spent a lot of money to EXO. They always give them the less budget but EXO always gave them big income. LOL I hope you react more to their live performance. 🫶🏻
What? Lol I disagree about the money spent on EXO especially when you look at other groups music videos. They're all treated basically the same. And EXO always gets amazing producers and writers... their discography speaks for itself. Like SM or not but who do you think is paying for those producers and everyone else who works with EXO to make those amazing albums? SM wants to save whenever they can, doesn't matter which group it is lol I strongly dislike SM and the way they do things but let's not act like they haven't spent a lot of money on EXO
@@LesEXO2012i guess the person meant saving on the mvs with exo… and they are not wrong, if you compare exo to other sm groups their mvs are more low budget
@baeklayexo8183 I disagree... name all of these videos from another SM group that is even more money than Power, Obsession, Cream Soda, Love Shot... I mean every group has it's budget videos and some where money is actually spent. It's not like the NCT units, or Aespa etc have every mv that's super expensive. So we'll have to agree to disagree on this one lol No biggie
Exo is one of The Most Iconic groups of Kpop that dominated the industry for a long time, on par with Bigbang, BTS, Blackpink Twice. Waiting for you guys to react to more Exo, Let’s go!!
The album this song is in is called exodus and it got the best teasers ever. The teasers are called pathcode because all exo members were in different countries and each of it contain clues to the title track. The way we all gone into sherlock mode at the time. I never thought fangirling would felt so epic.
Thank you for reacting to EXO!!~ Expecting more vids to come~ Love your reaction guys! Please react to EXO live concert performances especially the acoustic medley and EXO albums. They never disappoint ^^ Always looking for any EXO content
OMG !!!!!! so early yay!!!!!!! .....always saying is an classic but in fact it is an CLASSIC epic iconic song !!!!! E X O!!!! thank you for the space and also hope you guys can check their live performances cause is top tier
Because you enjoyed "Call Me Baby" so much, you definitely should also check out the EXO-M Mandarin Chinese version. If you watch the two versions side by side, you will see that the members that are featured in each part are different and even in the dance sections where you might think "it looks the same" there are different members doing different parts. The two versions of their MVs may look similar, but that's only because they filmed the MV twice and deliberately made the scenes look the same. Also, if you really pay attention, the scenes may look the same, but the members who sing the parts are different depending on the version that you watch. For example, in the Mandarin version you will see the EXO-M (Chinese) members featured more (Lay, Xiumin, Chen and Tao) and they sing the main parts, and in the Korean version the EXO-K members (D.O., Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Sehun, Suho and Kai) sing those same parts. In the Korean version a lot of the main parts were sung by D.O., but if you watch the mandarin version, you will see that Lay sings those parts, and in the Mandarin version the rap was done by Tao and Xiumin, where in the Korean version it's Chanyeol and Sehun, etc. Also, if you watch the Mandarin version you will be able to see a different sports car with Tao driving the car instead of Kai. In "Call Me Baby" there are only 10 members because this song came out in 2015 and it was the first MV after 2 of EXO's Chinese members left -- Kris left right after their "Overdose" MV came out and Luhan left about 6 months later in 2014. This also was the last MV were we see Tao, the third Chinese member that left the group. Tao (The tall, blond with the orange shoes who is the youngest member of EXO-M) left the group shortly after "Call Me Baby." Fun fact: Leading up to the release of the "Call Me Baby" MV, there were 10 Pathcode teasers that were released over several weeks. There was a short teaser video for each of the members, and combined with clues from an SM Entertainment twitter account, we had to piece together the story and solve the mystery to reveal the release date and title of EXO's new song, which ended up being "Call Me Baby." If you notice, there are 10 letters in the title "Call Me Baby" so there was one letter per EXO member. If you want to watch their Pathcode teasers just search SM's RU-vid channel. They are all there. The stories in the teasers also connect to EXO's larger storyline as well, and it is thought that they not only show clues to "Call Me Baby," but they also reveal more clues to EXO's storyline and tell a little more of EXO's story. The Pathcode videos are super interesting and very mysterious, just like everything EXO does.
Niiiice, I loved this And btw Teddy Riley produced this - he created New Jack Swing which was big in the 90s. Idk if you know who he is but he's a major producer from the US (had worked with Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Mary J Blige, Bobby Brown etc etc) and was a member of BlackStreet (remember 90s classic No Diggity) He worked with EXO a few times. Their pre- debut song "What Is Love" definitely another throw back to 90s r&b which I think sums up EXO if you listen to their entire discography. They can pull off any genre but they have an old school 90s r&b vocal group vibe in general
EXO is nicknamed the king of K-pop because they grew up in an era where the internet has not yet reached. There is no mobile phone yet, but he has also made the sales of the album. Every album and concert tickets are sold out the fastest in the industry. Sell the card within 0.02 seconds and EXO is also a dancing king = kai, lay. King vocals = Chen, Beakhyun,D.O And Suho is also the best band leader. In the killing voice program, D.O, the vocals show only 10%. That may be because he did not renew the contract. So I have shown less than other members. And members of EXO, now there are 8 people from 12 and EXO still have a single work. There is a series. Hope that you will continue to reaction EXO. EXO, the concert will sing because it is more than in the MV.
@@WorldifySanityThere is a phone, but the internet is not as fast as this era. Importantly, not everyone will have a phone to use that year and the internet signal is not as good in all areas as today.
@@WorldifySanitysmartphones were ofc there lmao. It's the internet weren't as developed as today's. Like how trend is set thru internet this days, understand that 💀
Live is the best! If you want to see their real energy, check out Diamond, Run this Show, Drop this & Power at Seoul concert. This was at end of 2 1/2 to 3 hour concert and they still give you 120% This concert of 66,000 sold out in .2 seconds breaking their original record of .4
Call me baby always gave me retro style but I never thought about BSB but I can see that. I guess thats one of the reasons why this songs is one of my favourite EXO songs.
A friend of mine made me listen to Save Me by BTS. That was the first time I heard a kpop song. I liked the song so much, as soon as I got home, I went on RU-vid to listen to BTS's other songs. Then there was EXO's Call Me Baby song in the suggestions, and I was very interested, I opened it and listened to it. I liked it so much that I started researching the group. Now I have been EXO-L for 8 years. I recognized them with this song and the biggest reason I loved them was their voices. They are so successful especially in singing live. They don't make songs that go viral and will be forgotten after a few years like popularity wants. They make songs of such high quality that we enjoy them even years later when we listen to them. Of course, like any artist, they want to get awards and they want to enter the charts, but that's not their main goal and they don't make songs that lack quality just to be in the trends. Their main goal is to make quality music. That's why EXO
