I watched a video on another channel today, the fellers we talking a little trash on you Dave. However for all their big fancy boat, and all that, they didn't catch half the fish and not nearly as big as you do! Keep it up sir!!!
You caught more fish in one day than I caught in 73 years lol. I did catch about a 4 pound catfish in a quarry once, I thought it was a monster, for you it would be bait. Have fun buddy! It's fun for me just riding along with you.
Dave, Should weighted the last fish to prove the point that you had beaten the last tournament, TWICE!!!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! TEHETEHEEEEE!!!!!
Well,,, there you are.. I just got back from catching Snook and Speckled Sea Trout. Looks like you all set up for a fine day yourself with a fat Blue Cat all Netted and ready to go. Tearin them up today Dave. Nice work.
I regret to inform that Berkeley no longer makes the E-Cat rod😢 Of all the rods to discontinue, it had to be the E-Cat. Great video as always, Mr. Dave👍
I have a e-cat4 and it is a stump puller. I am always on the look out for e-cats at yard sales, estate sales etc. Why do they quit makin the good stuff? Mike
Yep, we're seeing the same thing here in SE Virginia, fish on the nests, and ocean-going yachts passing through from Florida to New England. I wish they would demonstrate the ocean-going capabilities of their ship by using the ocean. Our water is so shallow here on the ICW that dragging is the only option unless you're in the channel. With Gilligan running up and down the channel, it is not the place to be. Thanks for the video and tips.
Catfish Dave - you are a breath of fresh air, brother! "Let go of me son, and I'l let you go" LOL! Love your casual yet careful release style - never hit the gunwales with a fish when you toss 'em! Dag blasted red boat...
Good work Dave. I wish you wou have weighed a few more of them though but thats mainly bc I caught one similar size last night but couldn't weigh it bc I didnt have a net with me and its jaw was already messed up
Luck u can run multiple rods. I live up in Manitoba canada we fish channel s a bunch but we are only allowed 1 rod. We use a lot of cut Goldeye shrimp, suckers and frogs. We are very fortunate that the mighty red river produces great channels. And actually great bullheads too
Hi Dave, one hell of a video today! Maybe an odd question, but what is the bean width of your boat? I am looking at a new boat and adding a similar set up, just curious.
@@SLCOutdoors I just make fun of it to make myself feel better about me doing the same thing. Predictive text gets me all the time. To answer your question though, I’d guess his beam is around 65”. Maybe 70. Dave looks pretty tall. I’d guess somewhere around 6’4”-6’6”. That’s what I base my guess off of. As far as boats go, it really depends on how much you want to spend. If I were to buy a new, or new to me boat, I’d search high and low for a SeaArk. They are the best made production boat on the market. Second choice would probably be an Express. Both boats have really good beams. The SeaArk will be more stable because of the hull design. Vexus makes a good aluminum boat but they have real issues turning at idle speed. I know it sounds strange but I work for MLF and we have guys that run them. They all complain about it. But it’s their only complaint. Another good option is Crestliner. When John Cox won the Forrest Wood Cup in 2016 on Wheeler lake, most of the footage was shot from my boat. I had to follow him for a ridiculous distance in the shallow backwater creeks. I was in a new Ranger 521C (my staff boat) and he was in a Crestliner. Let’s just say I’m glad I got a new boat every year. He was literally ramping logs and I had to follow him. Pucker factor 10. That Crestliner took everything he threw at it. To say I was impressed is an understatement. They also ride high in the water so they handle rough water quite well. They’re just slow. John topped out at 43mph.
I'd be eating the smaller ones..I love fried catfish!! Do enjoy catch and release with tarpon and bonefish etc. Those big blues remind me of nurse sharks, the barbells haha ?
Im going to ask a stupid question, what are planer boards or plainer boards, however it's spelled and what is the purpose of them? Ive tried all kinds of bait and not a catfish one, except cutbait, guess that's my next option, awesome fishing man
Planer boards are for if you’re drifting or trolling bait they will attach to your line and pull away from the boat to a certain degree to prevent your lines from all eventually dragging directly behind you. Basically they keep your lines out to the side of your boats trail. Helps you to cover more water and keep your lines from tangling
Really enjoy watching your vids Mr. Dave!! Wish you would come over here to the Chesapeake Bay and take out these cats that are destroying a lot of the ecosystem here
