In todays episode I progress from the interior and engine bay I painted and weathered in the previous video and move on with construction with the view to getting the model ready for paint. So far so good and this NEW Takom Hetzer (early version) in 1/35th scale is really ticking a lot of boxes.
If you havent seen Part 1 I'd urge you to check it out -

Most of the modifications I suggest through the video have been researched by Tracey Hancock and Sam Dwyer - and my thanks go to these guys. Be sure to check out the Facebook page they have put together -

This is a great video, very clear and concise and interesting, so I paid attention more than I usually do with many other videos... not yours of course, this is only the second I have seen from you, about making the interior! Im 68 and used to be quite good in the hobby prior to switching to acrylic paints and using an air brush. Then I had to stop the hobby for a while because of the need to take close care of my late wife, and the mourning after she passed away. I want to thank Teasing Harmms and Mr. Lewis from Guntruck Studios for encouraging me to get back in the hobby. Now I am trying to relearn my former skill set needed to make myself happy with builds. You are at the right place and time in electronic terms! Keep those electrons flying! I would love to know about some of the tools you are using especially that micro drill for those very small drill bits and the rubber or plastic holder which fits on those small drill bits. Thanks. Also, I am unable to follow your link to your Facebook page, I am blocked.

Hey Cliff. Thanks for joining in again. You will have some degree of muscle memory, so I’m sure once you start it will all come flooding back. Try to enjoy the process rather than the result. I’ve posted the chisel on the YT community page…and the rotary tool and micro drill bits were just cheapies off eBay. I’ll try and be mindful to show them in more detail in coming videos. So glad we’ve crossed paths and I can be part of your come back 😃🍀

Hi Clayton! I have been enjoying this series on the Hetzer, and this instalment did not disappoint. The interior of the Hetzer looks amazing, and the additional details you have added to the exterior really makes a difference. I’m not sure I would have the courage to cut a huge hole in my model as you have done here, but it certainly gives the interior a chance to shine, and after all the work you put into it, I guess it’s worth it. I made a comment on the previous episode that I wasn’t sure that I would go to all the trouble to build an interior, just to cover it all up upon completion. However, in your reply you encouraged me to give it a shot, and to that end I have been building a Takom ‘Bergepanzer’ (sic), and I have to admit that I am enjoying the challenge. At least with this model, most of the interior will be visible when I am done. I will certainly be trying another interior in the future, so I have to thank you for your advice. Looking forward to the next Hetzer episode mate. Cheers for now from a fellow Aussie!

Thanks for the shout out mate. 😊 Definitely more inspiration than intimidation. Your results certainly show that a little extra effort in research and time,, as well as utilising such an extensive list of tools and textures is well worth it in the end result. I guess it comes down to personal preference on the effort you put in and the reward of how satisfied you are with the results. Your passion comes through in your vids and can take pride in your work and results. Looks amazing. Keen to see further instalments,.

Hi Clayton - I'm working on the Academy 1/35 Hetzer at the moment and have been loving this series! I've made the larger grab handles from copper wire (from stripped house wiring) but can't source the fine lead wire you used for the smaller handles. I'm thinking of using finer copper wire for them as well. Maybe stripped automotive wiring... thanks and keep up the great work mate. Learning a lot from you! Cheers James

Welcome to the channel. That Kangaroo looks fantastic! I'll look forward to hear how you go with it. Re the Hetzer - in terms of a model its very good - excellent in fact, but yes, there are some accuracy issues. I've tried to point out the ones I have been made aware of in the videos. I believe the 'late' one is the most accurate of the lot, however it does include the comment radios but none of the exterior detail in needs to be able to use them.. so most people are just leaving that bay of radios on the left hand sponson out. Hope that helps :)
@daveybyrden3936
@daveybyrden3936 10 месяцев назад
Takom put a radio set into the left sponson that shouldn't be there. You removed it and put storage trays instead - good move. But those two devices up ahead, the red and yellow boxes? They are the power supplies for the radio! They wouldn't be there either. As far as I can see, Takom referred to a badly restored vehicle instead of researching the original.

Yes, they seem to have missed a few ‘details’ didn’t they? I guess in this day and age you can’t get away with it like you used to. Peoples subject knowledge is so vast now, and access to information is available. Agree with you about rushing the kit to market. It’s a shame, but it’s a business, so they are just trying to make sales. I think for 95% of modellers they wouldn’t care about the accuracy issues…but once you know you know I guess.
