Got one of these for the holidays about two years ago. Flew it around this weekend on a visit back home. Flys pretty well and I was able to take some pretty crisp videos at the beach during sunset. All my other videos were blurry but the beach at sunset came out quite good surprisingly. I’m on my way back home watching videos at the airport and have the drone with me to mess around some more in Florida as I’ve taken up fishing as a new hobby. Thanks for the video I’m surprised how far it can go as I wasn’t as daring to try and lose mine 😂
The quality of the video is pretty good and it seems to fly okay but I just wish for at this price, it should have a 3 axis gimbal. Nice job Ryan and Happy Thanksgiving.
Yep, me too Greg. However it flies great and takes good photos. The FPV range is also excellent. Best I've seen on any Wi-Fi quad. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!#
This is a sweet one Ryan! Really good video feed bud! Especially at over 1000 ft! Functions seem to work well! Another good one ! Best of all a great flyer with great flight time! Good to see you having fun with this Ryan! Great review! Have a great 🦃Thanksgiving Brother!✌🏻💯🤩🍻
I just bought one and my first flight is going to be today. I have never flown any drones so this will be my first venture into flying drones and I want an affordable one to learn on that won’t break the bank if it crashes.
Great review Ryan, you really covered everything. It flew well, the camera looked decent and it had a long flight time. The big con is not having any image stabilization, even some EIS would have helped. I got this in for review also, and even though it does fly well, the winter wind gusts will bounce it around. Thanks for sharing.
Hey, great video. I'm having trouble finding a memory card that works with this drone. I've used all class 10, none of them work. Could you please send me the link to the one you used, thanks.
This is cutting it quite close in canada ($399) to the mini 2 from dji which goes at costco on sale for $499 which is well worth the extra $100 although dji support is terrible
Absolutely return this drone and get the Miini 2 instead. You won't regret it. I just recently purchased the Mini 2 with an extra battery, 32GB card and carrying case from Costco for $379!! It is for members only and the deal may still be available online. If you can get in on that deal then jump on it as that is a better deal than the refurb. I'll be making a video about my mini 2 deal later this week. The mini 2 can fly 10km and has a 3-axis gimbal. The HS710 has no gimbal. You'll regret having no video stabilization.
@@RDsRCReviews Thank you SO much for your shockingly fast reply! I believe that you've flown many, many different drones, so I am certain that you know what you're talking about. I will keep my eyes peeled for a similar deal (the Costco deal is dead, and their website states that this item is no longer available). Thank you again for your guidance!
@@RDsRCReviews Thanks again for sharing your experienced opinion with me! I'm a Costco member, so I called their Customer Service number to ask them if they have this for sale (in their main online warehouse or in any of their stores) and was told "no" with respect to the online store, but that they do show very low inventory sporadically around at local Costco Warehouse locations around the country. The rep checked the locations near me, and found that two locations had a few in stock, so I called ahead to verify that they had at least one in stock, and they did- so I went to take a look. Turns out since the item is discontinued it's no longer on display, but they could still sell it, but at their regular price of $439. I purchased it at that price, and asked the folks at Customer Service to discount it to the sale price, and they did- so thanks for that, RD! For anyone who happens to read this near the last week of 2022, Sam's Club also has a similar $379 deal until Jan 1st, but the add-ons are slightly different. I am not a Sam's Club Member, so I did not investigate further. RD- as a complete novice to drones and drone photography, I speak for the many who are looking for a good "starter" drone and hope that someone will put together a video comparing a relatively high-quality budget drone in the sub 250 gram segment (like the Holy Stone HS710) that costs around $275 (in late 2022) out the door these days with an additional battery to the DJI Mini 2- which is probably in another league with respect to performance and reliability but also costs significantly more too. Will a beginner benefit from the differences that the Mini 2 offers at a higher cost? Is it worth spending nearly twice as much (which is what you'll find on the DJI website)? I read a few places that for someone just getting started or unsure if they'll find it a useful tool- buying a cheaper drone might lead to the assumption that all drones will provide similar footage and flight performance, while a significantly better experience is possible, for another 30% or so more money. It's difficult to know if I am overbuying for my usage case (which I don't really even understand until I try using one of these things) - but I really want to avoid buying a ~$250-$300 thing that could've been a LOT better for only a little more money.
@@arau8310 wow! I'm glad you were able to get one at the discounted price and I'm so happy I jumped on this deal when I did. I have been getting mine set up and I filmed the table review already and I got the drone and controller fully charged and the firmware all up to date. Unfortunately with wind gusts forecast over 30mph the next few days I simply can't get any flight footage to include with my video plus the wind will overwhelm my mic with wind noise. I wish I could do a comparative video between the Holy Stone HS710 or the HS175D but I no longer own them. I always give away or sell the cheaper drones once I'm finished reviewing them. This is a great idea though so I think I will do a comparison video soon between the Mini 2 and a budget 250g Holy Stone or Potensic drone. If I can get the Potensic Atom then it would be ideal for this video. Trust me, you'll thank me later for spending more $$ on the Mini 2. You would have not been happy with the HS710 in the long run.
To bad they didn’t just add electronic image stabilization. Looks like a nice flyer, I been wondering how it flys. I just been to weak to stand for a review flight. Great job Ryan
I can't wait to see you get back to reviewing and we all hope it is sooner rather than later. Yes, I also wish it had EIS as it would then be perfect. Get well Donnie!!
Pero el drone si puede guardar las fotos y videos desde el dispositivo o tienes que usar una tarjeta SD para guardarla espero que me puedas contestar en español y un saludo desde Jalisco
My HS710 Manual says that I can only use "TF Cards" up to 32gb. So is the manual bullshitting me? Hell, I'd never even heard of a TF Card until I was just gifted this drone.
@@RDsRCReviews Awesome. Thanks for the quick reply. That TF thing really threw me off...so it's good knowing that I can use the microSD cards that I already possess.
Shame on you for the idiotic comment. The range will vary by phone and the area you are flying in. An area with a lot of Wi-Fi interference will reduce the fpv range. Also, the quality of your phone's Wi-Fi antenna. Please learn about how all of this works before leaving such a dick comment on my video. Just because your drone has terrible range doesn't mean mine did.
@@RDsRCReviews SO now you question the quality of an iPhone 13 with latest update", How about still getting 99 ft in a 100 acre open field, even in airplane mode this drone gets 99 ft. Why dont you read the same disconnect poor disconnect range many are having, still this drone is a 50-50 crap shoot that you will get past 100 feet.Thank You
@@ComoChingan-kb7ty what did my friend at PerthwestOZRC have to say to you? How do I know what phone you're using? Sounds like you got a defective drone. Ask for a replacement. Dave got 700m range on his. How can you expect me to redo a video when I'm not having the problems you are. You are simply being unreasonable. If I buy a new car and say it is great and you buy the same car and it breaks down while leaving the dealership does that a) make my opinion wrong b) mean the car is junk because you got a lemon?
@@RDsRCReviews sorry, my apologies if I went off the cuff. I only meant to say that reviewers should perhaps make a note that from looking at many customers having the same issue problems I have one must deduct that perhaps buying this drone is a crap-shoot and your odds of getting a bad one are greater than it should be. A drone ought to be honor by the multitude of satisfied customer experiences overall and not by one happy lucky person. You are doing a good job, no harm no foul.
