@@biomadnesstrip Foreman was never the quickest puncher, but much slower during his '80s comeback. However, Foreman was a better technical fighter when he came back in the late '80s. Not a pretty style, but more efficient. Previous to that, he was just an overwhelming puncher, who relied on bullying opponents in the ring.
“The Warrior “One of the greatest I seen ever Do it...Line em Holy will fight them... Man was a cruiserweight til he was bout 30...Went to heavyweight N was with all the 💨....
+sirmighty loov Really was. Enjoyed watching Holyfield fight. He was not a natural heavyweight either, he moved up so most guys had a little size on him, but he took their shots. Foreman is my favorite, due to all he has done in his career inside and outside the ring, Ali close second for the being the greatest, Holyfield for shutting Tyson up. I think Holyfield deserves to be in there with those two.
+Daniel Dunn This is the first time I see this video.I found it (related) by watching some Larry Holmes videos, but even before hearing Evander's words... I knew he would say Big George given the list of all boxers he faced (it was clearly going to be George, he's the biggest puncher of all times next to Shavers, and my favourite Heavyweight, and I emphasise the 'MY FAVOURITE' part). Anyways, I also got goosebumps :D
George Foreman as a Heavyweight, is the hardest puncher ever, then Earnie Shavers, Ken Norton, Joe Louis, Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis, Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Evander Holyfield
+George Havenhand In a way he was the Sam Langford of the nineties. (5'7'', with the reach of someone 6'3" very crafty and a brutal puncher for his size.)
dizzypilot not only am IA boxing I am also a mixed martial arts fan and participant. I'm not into golf, but I don't think we should disrespect it either. I have loved you forever back in the day and even today I still. better than any of that stupid pro wrestling. that's not a sport, it's a sports entertainment soap opera. it's funny how boxing and mixed martial arts put on that act as well. I hope one day they put the WWE out of business. golf deserves respect even though I don't care for it, because it's a real sport.. Pacquiao and Mayweather you are good. there's nobody else. it seems as though rates have reached their. Who and what's next?
I have tried golf and it's a difficult skill to develop. I have a lot of respect for the guys at the top. It takes years and thousands of hours to even be competitive.
Anyone who fought Evander better have been prepared. Evander was a class act. When he fought Tyson I told everyone Evander would just keep on coming and Mike would not know what to do. I was told I was crazy. I won a thousand dollars on each fight from the same man. Yes I was crazy but I wasn't broke. Lol
I knew he was gonna say George. My dad bought that Foreman/ Holyfield fight when I was 16. I remember going crazy during the fight. So wanted George to win the flight. Came short, but he came mighty close to knocking Holyfield out!!! To me, George Foreman is the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time.
He started the cheating both times when he fought Tyson. He head butted Tyson so much he got him bleeding and the refs didn’t do shit. Tyson was a better boxer
Evander was a smart fighter a true warrior with heart. I always enjoy watching his fights up to this very day. The public loved him and his team loved and believed in him. Most importantly he believed in himself.
He was a real gentlemen, minus the excessive cheating with headbutts, low blows, cheating on his wife all the time and hiding behind Jesus. Yea, swell guy. Oh, roused up also. SMH
George Foreman was no joke in his prime...the fact that he still was dropping the hammer at his older age makes you think how Ali took that punishment before he won. Holyfield to say George Foreman hit him that hard....that's just scary. Holyfield was just a warrior when he fought.
ReekoChet foreman was better when he got older to be honest he didn't have no stamina when he was younger when he got older he had more weight with his punches and stamina and a smarter fighter
Great video of Evander in a relaxed conversation. Loved by many including me, Evander was always in fabulous shape and you knew he was "in to win", never giving up.
i came upon Evander at Caesar's Palace in LV the day before he fought Tyson in 96'. He had a very fierce and intimidating look that sent shivers up my spine. That is one dude you don't want to mess with.
Evander Holyfield wasn't necessarily at the top of the list of my favorite fighters back when he was in his prime. Maybe for the sole fact that he didn't quite have the power of someone like Tyson. But the fact is he crushed some great fighters repeatedly,. This is especially impressive considering that he wasn't a natural heavyweight. Phenomenal heart and boxing ability, both God-given and trained for. And all of these accomplishments coming from a thoroughly decent and good person. Incredible.
Tyson was a hard hitter but his power was extremely exaggerated because he had good speed so it look like he was hitting harder than he really was he was not a big man forman hit harder than he did and Holyfield really was not that far behind he sure took a lot of power shots Tyson did I meant to say Holyfield dished it out to him and beat the crap out of him
@@robertlulek1634 Mike had better body mechanics than probably all of the fighters in his day and probably most today as well. With his fists held in uppercut style, his punches were a lot more powerful than a boxer whose fists are turned sideways or downward (like a Muay Thai fighter) when he throws a punch.
@@realdealnealcrook8940 he still didn't hit as hard as people thought he was a hard hitter yes.But pitted best against best he would be destroyd. Even Joe Frazier would have put him on his ass much more how much more stamina similar styles. Joe Frazier's ferocious left hook was harder than anything that Tyson through. Watch the first fight with Ali how he put a big man like him on his ass. Ali literally flew up in the air when he hit him. and let's not even talk about Muhammad Ali fighting Mike Tyson in his prime he was blistering fast had a chin of granite and the heart of a Lion. Even in his later years there would be no way he would lose to buster Douglas evander holyfield etc
@@astrotrain21 you don't know that. Perhaps he hit harder with both hands but Fraser had a monstrous left hook. It put Muhammad Ali down remember that and Ali took everything that foreman put at him. And George Foreman definitely hit harder than Mike Tyson dead.Mike Tyson was overrated he was short 5 foot 10 he gave the illusion of a lot of power with his quick movements he was fast I'll give him that. I'm a former professional kickboxer and I know what I'm talkin about. Joe Frazier at ten times the heart that Mike Tyson had.. Mike Tyson got knocked out six times in his career I lost six times. He never fought late into the rounds often. Joe Frazier was a warrior and after a couple of rounds Tyson would be frustrated and the one down. I put my money on Frasier any day he is like a game or was like a game Pitbull. Tyson not so much
Holyfield was the man. One of my all time favorites. George has to be the closest thing to unhuman. Chin of steel, strong as a bear, great stamina for a man his size and age. He was a problem in the era of Ali and Frazier and was a problem in the era of Holyfield, Tyson and Bowe. Respect to both of those warriors
A man who can talk of his competitors and honor their skills without dishonoring his own is talking properly. No false pride, no false humility, that was a man talking.
😂😂 No he is not. He is, talking about what would have happened. If they met in foreman's prime. But actually it wont be that big of a difference, foreman's style is based on true power even when he was 25, it was always about power thats why he could come back and still win, cause his power never went away.
Also, keep in mind that Old Foreman was a completely diferent man compared to Young Foreman. Old Foreman had made some changes to his fighting style on a technical level, as well he had experience under the belt.
Holyfield could still take ‘74 Foreman because Holyfield is a much smarter fighter. Now old Foreman’s brain in ‘74 Foreman’s body would murder heavyweight boxing because that Foreman would murder every heavyweight boxer he fought...
Top 5-10 heavyweight of all time. Did the most with the least. FOUGHT EVERYBODY and left no stones unturned in his career. He's the common denominator of his era. Fought everybody win or lose. From Byrd to bowe. From Lewis to tyson. He was an undersized heavyweight that over achieved. captured the world title on 5 separate occasions. Could've been 7 times but was robbed in Germany. Greatest cruiser weight of all time. If he had a lil bit more power and height he would've been unstoppable. And outlasted every heavyweight of his era.
+Matt Barringer Yeah, but Foreman pimp slapped him all over the place, just as he did Bert Cooper (who also gave Holyfield trouble). .Styles truly make fights.
+Darrell Nepia Yeah, Qawi was a monster. Apart from the fear factor I feel that whoever fought him knew that he had to give it 100% and then find 50% more in order to win. Guys like Qawi remind you that there are far easier professions to make money.
George Foreman was really a different breed of human, as an old man he hit harder than anybody else in Holyfield's generation of legendary power punchers. Unbelievable fighter and great guy.
I think there's an argument to be made that Foreman is the GOAT. Not saying he is or isn't, but he's part of that conversation, considering what he did over decades. People thought he might kill Ali before they fought, but Ali pulled off perhaps the greatest fight in heavyweight history. George was never knocked out again, before or after. People just tend to remember that Ali fight. Foreman crushed Frazier twice and had a ton of other great wins. It kind of makes sense that he still had the power - that's probably the last thing to go. It's just amazing that he could stand in the ring and take pummelings without ever going down. Legend.
Of all the sportsmen's and athletes' observations and insights on their competitors I find the boxers' to be the most honest and forthright. And the high respect they pay to each other is exemplary.
@@ExperienceEric Nah, I agree, Holyfield was always a little hard to understand b/c of his Alabama and Georgia upbringing, but he was sounding terrible just a few years ago, slurring and punch drunk and much less articulate, but for the past year and a half it's like this huge improvement, like he was reborn, which makes me so happy.
@@joeblough261 He is going on 60 now so different types of health issues can weaken you more. I have seen countless examples of fighters whose speech slurred bad late in or after their career, but Evanders speech never changed in his career.
@@hasakicioguz9312 No. Factoring in his size it was Rocky Marciano then George Foreman. You don't have to take my word for it all the fighters that fought both Earnie Shavers and Foreman said that George was the hardest puncher they've ever felt.
+Matt Barringer i would say hagler was tougher, never hurt, only down once (and replys show the guy stood on his foot) where as evander was hurt many many times and stopped and dropped a few. there are fighters with way better chins etc. what evander did have was a huge heart.
+mogwai250 I think that was what Matt said. Warrior is more about heart, not chin. And I also believe Hagler is a warrior himself, but perhaps the context is on the heavy weight.
+mogwai250 Hagler?.. Hagler only fought fighters from the lighter weight classes. journeymen and bums. Ray Leonard came out of retirement after over 3yrs and whooped Haglers butt. Hagler gets vastly overrated.
I know this was 8 years ago now, but it was great to hear him sounding so coherent at the time. At the height of his career he did sound a little punchy, but years out of the sport have clearly done him good. Could easily have been a casualty of the sport given how stacked his resume was and how many blows he took from top level opponents.
He was smart to say he wasn't going to be knocked out in the last round. That actually happened when Marciano was fighting Jersey joe Walcott in the 1950s Walcott was ahead on points in either the last round or the one before that but I believe it was the last. They told Marciano either knock him out or you lose the title. Rocky knocked him out, joe later said it was like getting hit with a sledge hammer !
what a warrior my second favourite heavyweight after the late Muhammad Ali. the tenth round in his first fight with bowe is my favourite heavyweight round of all time. it defined the kind of warrior holyfield was.
The first and only school yard fight I got into it was against a kid whos dad was a boxer and had of course taught his children how to fight. So needless to say I got my ass beat that day after school. The next day after school I see this kid coming and he has his dad with him, I thought I was in trouble, I was scared. Kids Dad comes up to me shakes my hand asks me if a fought his son yesterday which was obvious due to the lumps on my face, but he eventually asked me if I wanted to train with them after school, I said yeah and trained with them all the way through high school and a few years after, it was fun and character building. The interesting thing is that I havent been in a fight since then, I have never used the things i learned.
Training years are the happiest too since all anger and frustration are washed away at the gym, you go home tired and in peace just wanting rest. Trading punches over time helps in dealing with emotions as you manage to control yourself a bit more, I had an issue with my left dropping so an assistant was placed to my left during mitt training to sock me everytime my hand went south; for a while I would flinch and try to guard up any time someone stood close to me.
Great to hear Qawi praised, a really underrated fighter. No surprise that Foreman was listed as hardest hitter (Foreman actually knocked Qawi out early in his 1980's comeback).
Amazing to see Holyfield admit that Big George hurt him in the 11th round to an extent that he felt it necessary to hold and hang on in the 12th because he feared by KO'ed . Remember, at this time George was at least 12 to 15 years past his prime.
I loved watching Hollyfield..man was a complete boxer..not afraid to get and stay in the inside n duke it out..but is also smart enough to change his approach mid fight...
I love the fact that Holyfield is honest. There’s another video of him talking about Tyson where he said when Tyson had the gloves under his chin, he was unbeatable. It was only when he changed his style that he became beatable. He says I was fortunate enough to fight him when he was beatable.
George in his prime was my favorite. As he aged I still liked watching him because he was slower but still had the power. Guys say he was so slow that you could see the punch coming but could never get out the way of it.
This video made me so happy! Its soo good to see Evander seems to be recovering from being a Punchy fighter who clearly took tomany shots in his career. In this interview hes well articulated he is able to keep his train of thought and all that. I loved how he talked about Ol George Being the hardest hitter and how he was throwing Rocks and George was throwing boulders hahaha
+ProudFather “CrEaTiOnZ” Animations He actually seems more articulate here than in the nineties. Part of that may be age and wisdom but I'm pretty sure he's not punchy.
You can make a case for Riddick Bowe being the most talented heavyweight of his generation. He could do everything when he put his mind to it. He had hand speed, could jab, fight on the inside and had power and great size. He never wanted it bad enough though and that's a shame
@@lee-annhellner9622 nope, chicken Bowe chose to relinquish his title instead of fighting Lewis who was the mandatory challenger. Lewis also beat Bowe in the olympics so he had his number.
I honestly thought he was punch drunk in the 90s now i realise i was un cultured and its his southern accent, man this guy has the heart and soul of a warrior, i now can't respect this guy enough.
I Ment Holyfield at Trump Castle Casino in Atlantic City New Jersey. I didn't realize how tall he was until I Ment him . Great fighter, especially when he fought Qwai and Tyson and won both fights.
Na minha opinião, era inteligente para lutar, ficava muito na defensiva. Eu não gostava da forma com que ele lutava. Respeito sua opinião, claro. Mas o maior que eu vi, inigualável, Tyson, um monstro explosivo
God bless the guy, a true elite warrior with a huge heart, always fought guys bigger than him An all time great in many people's eyes and one of my hero's.
Thanks for the video. Evander (Real Deal) Holyfield a true "Warrior and Gentleman" indeed after literally getting robbed from becoming an "Gold Medalist" on the biggest stage in the world, the "Olympics"! Yet he still showed grace which most likely made him that much more (Determined), to be the best boxer he could possibly be? Well he did just that becoming the "WBA Cruiserweight Champion of the World" in only 11 professional fight's prior, and went on to become the "Undisputed Light Heavyweight Champion of the World"! Oh but he was just getting started going after what is considered the most "Prestigious" title of all? Yep the "Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World" maybe a thank you for those (Morons) from the Olympics are in order? lol. But for his "Achievements" in the ring, never lost sight of "GODS, Love" in him! So the rest is "History"....Thanks "Evander Holyfield" for all the memories !!!
