Home Addition in 157 Seconds 

It's crazy the technology has come so far that we are now able to put an addition on a home in 157 seconds

I had a great mexican crew come and do a deck for me and I must say i was blown away at house efficient and cohesive they worked,they finished in 2 days while other contractors gave me a 1 week even with more man power. Gracias amigos. This is a great addition by the way..

That loose flapping edge on the tyvek bothered me more than it should have

Have to admit the contractor was very slow. I could have completed this build in 156 seconds...😁.

For a few seconda i was worried about the second floor window was just going to be cut in half....

I wouldn't have used three 4x4 posts for the structural support at the end of the house, they will need to be replaced roughly twenty years later, possibly sooner depending on the upkeep on the siding. Other than that it's a very attractive addition.

I see your comment about cost, but I'm always curious how much a project like this cost. I'm as intrigued with the cost as I am the craftsmanship. It's so funny how taboo our society is about money unless you're a billionaire then the whole world needs to know.

To those who are concerned about codes, realize this satisfies local building codes. This may not make sense in wet areas but here in the desert it's perfectly fine. Cost? Its not a discussion. I'm going to have to build. If you want to build a house. First get the phone, Then call a contractor Third get a contractor and get a quote!.

To be honest, I would not feel comfortable support that second story with those three posts. There is no shear support there.

If someone breaks those three trusses, or if the soil gets wet, its a wrap. If your house is too small, purchase a new one. It cost less for you to get a new house than to add an addition.

The thing that really bothered me is that they didnt put Any house wrap back on the gable end where the new addition started. I'm kinda shocked that they didnt edit that back out. Siding over bare osb is not to code which makes me wonder how many more corners were cut. For those who dont know, Osb (oriented strand board) is basically garbage after it gets wet. It's a bargain version of plywood that's really only useful for exterior sheathing if its covered with housewrap(tyvek or similar ) before water can get to it.

That bottom section of the addition didn't have house wrap on it.. I wonder what else they skimped on

Should have sheeted and wrapped the walls before standing them then you only would’ve had to do tape and siding off the scaffold woulda saved a lot of time and money

Not sure why they didn't make the area below the addition livable space as well. Seems like an odd decision that looks "tacked on".

Overhang isn’t appealing at all. Better to have it flush with expanding lower level with upper or just not have as large an upper add on.

They forgot to install tyvek on exterior second floor wall near new addition.

I'm concerned about the way it was built, it just doesn't make sense to me. Is it to code at least? Also, how much did it cost? I'd love to have that discussion.

Don’t understand the reason for the crawl look just expand the bottom and top all together you lost all that more space in your house

Why would you put an addition on the second floor and not the first floor. This house also looks relatively new, why now? What need is satisifed by that addition? Personally, id have just poured a typical pad, then done an addition to the first floor as well

Im confused. Why didnt they need build a foundation? Is it because of the 2 stick beams? Is that safe?

Should renovate the downstairs of the new part just to fill in the gap & move the upstairs window towards the middle or end.

I always find it unpleasing to the eye to have the weird "just upstairs" addition like it's not pretty at all. Although functional I would never do this

Question; Why did you not run the I joist perpendicular to the house as it would have been better to run duct work and mechanicals up into new addition? Or is it electric heat ??

I have a new edition on my garage and have 2 different pitches like this going to a point. How do u do the siding and keep them locked?

This is great piece of work. All the heaters looking at this making crass comments. Have any you tried to do something like this? I bet not! I put up a patio and that was hard work. I can't imagine doing something like this. I'm adding an addition but not two story.
