I love how respectful and caring you are of Erin growing up. I imagine it’s a tough transition as a mum, my eldest is 6 so I’ve got a little while. But just your encouragement of her own style, her choices and wants it soo beautiful - great job mum!!

I feel like Easter bonnet parades is a Birmingham thing perhaps, as in my 12 years of parenting I had never delved into Easter bonnets until I moved to Birmingham, it’s amazing 🐇🐣🌼

I'm in the U.S. (California) and we don't do the Easter bonnet parade but I wish we did! The big tradition is dying eggs for an Easter eggs hunt. As a kid we always got a new dress for Easter. I feel like peeps, chocolate bunnies and jelly beans are the classic Easter candies here. We do have the Cadbury eggs as well.

I just found Kinder Happy Hippo crispy wafers. Omg! So good and they look like little hippos. That would be cute to put in the kids Easter baskets.

Emma, go watch Easter Parade starring Fred Astaire and Judy Garland to see the beautiful Easter dresses. Easter bonnets were around decades ago when I was little and as you see this movie, bonnets were a big deal in the 1930-40's.

I'm an American and I don't like our chocolate either, so you're all clear in my book! In America we don't have easter hats/bonnets (at least in my area of the country). If families are christian they will often get dressed up in springy colors and go to church for a special service. I grew up not going to church so each kid in the family just got an easter basket with chocolate, jelly beans, malted milk balls, and other candy on that Sunday.

Ooh I can't wait to be back in the UK and stock up on Easter bits and bobs to bring back with us! We don't have the Easter bonnet thing here in Germany, or even big chocolate eggs. So our car boot will be very full!!

10000000% on the American chocolate! I’ve lived here for 20yrs and I still HATE it 🤣 Hersheys tastes like throw up … and smells like it too! I pay the premium for a proper bar of chocolate from Home always 😅

Cadbury was sold to Kraft/Mondelez in America years ago. Hershey actually have the rights on selling Cadbury chocolate in The USA, Cadbury chocs are actually available in America. Cadbury is available all over the world, it's not been exclusive to Brum for yonks now. Same as HP sauce, sold years ago to America and manufactured in Europe, not Brum any more.

Just want to say as an American I am NOT AT ALL offended that you don't like our chocolate lol. I grew up about 40 minutes from Hershey, but honestly think the chocolate is a bit waxy. Much prefer foreign brands, although I will say that (when the factory was still actually in Hershey) driving through the town, the smell of the chocolate was heavenly.

My kids do the Easter bonnet parade. I will not lie I used to hate making the bonnets but since covid school cancelled the parade past 2 years so I will make a fabulous bonnet this year. Our primary school give prizes is very competitive. We have won before so the pressure is on.

No offense taken about American chocolate -US has more sugar and UK has higher fat and cocoa content which makes it better! Hubby is diabetic and there was a chocolate shop in Heathrow that had a range of sugar free chocolate -it was the best sugar free chocolate we’ve ever had - wish I could remember the brand name I’d order online💖

If you are going to be in the US for Easter, we don't have a lot of choice for chocolate eggs here. They have Hershey bunnies and a few others, maybe Dove & Lindt. But def. Not the selection they have in the UK. American chocolate is terrible!! They do have Lindt here, Kinda & Cream eggs.

I'm in Belfast and our school have never done an Easter Bonet parade! Poundland have the cutest little gnomies, I picked up a couple yesterday. Oh and the lemon bakewells are amazing 😋

American candie is crap im British lived in canada for 43 years. Not great there either. Now in the states thy have British stores here. And Canada but they are over priced but you always need your treat my girlfriend is coming over soon from England and she already has my list. So excited. As for whether we have Easter bonnets in the US as a school project, no we do not. Our public schools are completely secular (or they’re supposed to be anyway) so religious holidays aren’t celebrated at school. (They weren’t even allowed to have a “Christmas party” when I was in school; they had to call it the “winter holiday party”.) We do know what Easter bonnets are though. But here, they’re just big flowery hats your grandma wears to church on Easter Sunday.
