Amazing. I was taking stills of Common Golden Eyes and Red Breasted Mergansers last weekend. This incredible video has inspired me to start exploring video. Just stunning footage and editing.
Greetings from southwestern Ontario and thank you! I saw goldeneyes for the first time today, walking by the river at a golf course; they were too skittish to get anywhere near (might have been the bald eagle?) So I loved them up thru the binoculars as best I could but your footage makes me feel like I got closer!
Just came across your channel as I was surfing for something else. This was lovely. I'll be checking out your previous videos as well as tuning in for future episodes.
Wonderful mix of shots - long, medium, and closer - pacing, and music choice, Ryan! Interest-holding mix of bird actions, too (take-off, landings, mating, dives, etc. Love the opening shots of birds flying in different directions. Your posts never disappoint.👍
With great frame rates comes great responsibility 😂 But really, with this setup it can record up to 4 seconds real time of 4K 120. Sometimes I wish it was more of course, but really in a way it's also a blessing in that it reminds me to not live in 120 all the time and to mix it up. And some might think that the mark of a good setup is being able to shoot slow motion, but to me I think the opposite. You know you got great gear when you can shoot long lens in real time and have the shots be stable enough without slow motion to even out the jitters.
Yeah the recording options on that camera are very nice for how small it is. I don’t own one but I’ve borrowed it a couple times from Sony. I have about one month total of experience with it under my belt.
Loving the cinematic video love the Goldeneyes Merganser and Ruddy duck cracking footage ! Just hope a Goldeneye turns up at my local reserve this year !👍👍😍
Thank ya. That was actually my first ruddy duck I've seen, so not bad for a first look. They were the most curious and brave about inspecting the camo blind out of all of them. Good luck with the goldeneyes!
Well done Ryan! Was this all done with the FS5? I was thinking about picking up a DJI Pocket 2 for some quick wide angles instead of having to change lenses on my a7SIII.
