Hello Craig, Thank you for your interest in our Vacuum Elevators. Our Vacuum Elevators are manufactured using Polycarbonate Panels, which are as close to bullet proof as you can get. So the fear of a panel "cracking" is very limited and just note that our Polycarbonate panels can be replaced if damage occurs. In the event of Vacuum loss or if electricity shuts off while in operation, the cabin will gently lower to the ground floor due to gravity. In the event of a catastrophic failure or a drastic change in pressure cause by a puncture in the polycarbonate, there are mechanical safety breaks underneath the seal which latch within 2 inches of free fall and secure the cabin in place. I’ve been designing a home to build in Thailand. Four story houses are very common and I wanted to use one of these, but because of the heat, ceilings are higher than nine feet to make the rooms cooler. I’m don’t think this will work, besides there are advantages to having a standard home elevator. The standard model sells for $25,000 less and it will carry more than two people. The Problem with the standard model is that you must build a concrete wall to carry it and you need space on the ground floor as a machine room.
