Michelle Li is not young anymore and her results have not been good for some time, so no one would be surprised if she retired soon as Beiwen Zhang announced she will do -- she needs to take advantage of the occasion and win her home tournament against a relatively weak field -- this would give her a boost going into the Olympics

Problem is Canada cant seem to produce top WS player. Li is 32, go wonder if she still top WS in Canada something is wrong.

The top 4 seeds aren't a joke. I do get the "relatively" week, but relative to what... a super series? Their are players like Pablo Abian - 39 yrs old. Kevin Cordon - 37 yrs old. Chou Tien Chen - 34 yrs old. It's cute that you are suggesting she retire or "may" retire, but she is still getting results. Michelle has been and was injured for quite some time. I'm sure she regrets the time she missed and will play as long as "she" desires. Her and Beiwan are two totally different people. Why would Beiwan retiring have any bearing on Michelle? That's a really weird statement.

@@GiverOfFreedom Jeez -- uhh, relative to a 750 or 1000, or even a 500, event in Asia, obviously -- Li and Zhang are both past 30; Li had a serious injury not long ago -- Li's results are average, she just lost in the qtrs of her home tournament which she won previously, and looked unfit & tired in the 3rd
