Home Free doesn't really have a front man. The longer you spend with them the more you'll realize they tend to share the leads pretty evenly. I'd definitely suggest their cover of "Workin' for a Livin'"; it shows off their sense of humor as well as really helping you match names to faces. I love seeing your enthusiasm for them!

I love your enthusiasm about our Gentlemen. Home Free has the most incredibly kind and loyal fan base. I am honored to be a Home Fry. These guys are so real too, there's no Hollywood gimmicks they are true to the music, with no egos. They do what is best for the song always and hit you right in the heart everytime, whether it makes you happy or sad. The way you feel about them is exactly how I felt when I first heard them. They are a rare gem in this world. Being popular is great but it's their smallest concern. Making fabulous music is where their hearts lie and it shows in their work. Thanks again for an amazing reaction. Looking forward to more on the future.

Quick overview of the members: Brothers Chris and Adam Rupp (Vocal Percussion, and more) founded Home Free, they added Austin (High Tenor), Tim (Bass), Rob (Harmony/2nd Tenor) back when... In 2015/2016 Chris Rupp left for another music project with his sister, and Adam Chance (Baritone) joined Home Free. Those are the only six people you should worry about - even though the Wiki mentions a lot of other people we don't see. So, before 2016 you see Chris Rupp, after 2016 you see Adam Chance (Call him Chance). You always see the other four.

Another great thing about this group that makes them unique is their humor. If you listen to the "Butts Remix" you will be amazed at how awesome they sound while being hysterically funny. This is perfect for Tim's voice and Adam does amazing percussion sounds again.

Man of Constant Sorrow isn't old, it's just that Tim decided to go "natural" during lockdown. Chris, the brother of the beat boxer left the group and was replaced b Adam Chance (Chance) who brings a lovely warm baritone. Rob unfortunately us suffering from COVID right now so the concert dates are on hold, but they'll be back very soon. Welcome to HF world. They are fantastically talented, and once you see them live you'll discover their personalities as well. Agree with all the playlists - Dreamer is one of my all time favourites. Plus - well, everything! They can go from this emotion to the silliness of the Butts Medley without blinking. And Adam Rupp will blow you away the more you hear him. Austin refers to him as a freak of nature and he's not wrong

FYI - they have no “lead” man - they all decide who sings what part song by song. For last 5+ years it is: Austin Brown = high tenor RON Lundauist = tenor Tim Foust = bass Adam Chance (newest member, joined when Chris Rupp left) = baritone Adam Rupp = freak of nature/best boxer Helplessly Hoping, Folsom Prison Blues, One Man Band, American Pie…….have fun!

Tim cut his hair and quit dying it during the pandemic while in quarantine.. BTW.. those are the most creative videos they have ever done. Each filming their parts from their own homes.. (2 in Minnesota, 2 in Nashville and 1 in LA) Songs off the top of my head - Quarantine, Meet in the Middle, Folsom Prison Blues, Down to the Honky Tonk, Sunday Best, Moonshine, Everybody Walking this Land, On The Road Again... You have soooo many choices! LOL.. if you watch Season 4 of the Singoff with the intros and judges remarks, you'll learn how they got started and learn their names. Prior to 2016 you'll see Chris Rupp (Adam's brother) who started this group. He left in 2016 to pursue other interests he has and that's when Chance joined the group. Then start at the bottom of their videos and work your way up.. there are also Home Away from Home videos that take a look into their personal lives and then From the Vault videos that are all Behind the scenes of them making the videos. They did one of these for every video. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!

I have to agree with another comment. If you want to hear Tim‘s true range (5 1/2 - 6 octaves), listen to their latest release, “Brothers in Arms” and then go to Austin Brown’s Channel and listen to Austin and Tim doing “Maria” outdoors on Austin’s back deck. No studio acoustics, just singing with other musician friends. Prepare to be amazed! Remember when you watch it that Austin is Home Free’s “high” tenor and listen carefully to who is doing that part.

the four BIG acapella groups currently are Home Free, Voiceplay, Voctave and Pentatonix. all of them extremely talented in their own categories. Home Free is mainly country, but also does other stuff. Voiceplay are the theatrical ones of the acapella groups. Voctave is a big 11 acapella group of extreme quality, many of their members perform at disney parks as part of Voices of Liberty. Pentatonix is the more pop/danceclub oriented of the four. all these four groups have some EXTREME talent and are all worth checking out :)

Hey brother, good Sunday morning and great to wake up to yet another Home Free reaction. This is just beautiful & really showcases their abilities. You may want to react to their collab with Don McLean on his iconic song, American Pie on this it's 50th anniversay (it was released originally on Oct 24th, 1971)....it's an amazing performance including the now 76 year old Don McLean. Also reccomend their cover on Old Dominion's "One Man Band", some really amazing harmonies in that one

Good morning and welcome to the Home Free family! I have been followed HF since 2016. I (personally) am not a pentatonix fan or any other acapella group. I have not heard a single bad song from them. People say that Adam eats drum kits for breakfast! 🤣 You definitely need to checkout one of his drum solo videos! AMAZING! Tim has a 5 octave range….he can sing as high or higher than Austin (the high tenor) and so low he has blown speakers and shaken auditoriums. Rob is the other tenor, he does an absolutely unbelievable lead on End of the Road (Boys to Men). Have a fun ride, it’s great! 💜 Just subscribed for HF reactions. 👍🏼👍🏼

I found it helpful to watch their performances on The Sing Off (spoiler, they won that season 😁) The comments from the judges were educational and you learn a bit more about the guys, too. Chris Rupp was still with them then, so the newer videos will have Adam Chance (who they call Chance because they already had an Adam (Rupp!) I think you would really appreciate Adam's live "drum solo" and their live version of Your Man (especially the one where Tim breaks the sound system.) Love your reactions!

I have totally loved your "mind-blown" reactions to the four HF songs you've reacted to! You are a joy to watch (react). Chris Rupp (baritone with a really nice range in his own right - he's no longer with the group, he left in early May, 2016) started Home Free with his brother, Adam (beatboxer) in 2000, I believe it was. You'll see him in numerous videos that were done between 2013 and 2016. Chance (also an Adam, but he goes by Chance to lessen confusion with Adam Rupp) joined shortly after Chris left, and, no insult intended to Chris, but his presence has made Home Free stronger/better, IMO. If you're looking to be amused (and impressed by their talent - that's a given with these guys), try The Butts Medley, All About That Bass (Meghan Trainor), Champagne Taste (on a Beer Budget), Full of Cheer, and/or Workin' For A Livin' (Huey Lewis & the News). For versatility of genre, End of the Road (Boys II Men), Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On (Ed Sheeran/Marvin Gaye mashup), Seven Bridges Road (Eagles), Love Train (O'Jays), Can't Stop the Feeling (Justin Timberlake), Wake Me Up (Avicii). If you want pure vocal bliss-inducing eargasms, check out How Great Thou Art, Helplessly Hoping (Crosby, Stills & Nash), Brothers in Arms (Dire Straits), Amazing Grace (Peter Hollens featuring Home Free), and Auld Lang Syne. Peter Hollens and Tim Foust have collaborated on a number of songs as well - Misty Mountains (from the Hobbit), Greensleeves, Bridge Over Troubled Water (Simon & Garfunkel), Sound of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) (not at all like Disturbed's incredible version, but powerful and amazing just the same), Teach Your Children (CSNY), Fire & Rain (James Taylor). Their live stuff "Guilty Pleasures (derailed)" is absolutely hilarious, and Adam Rupp's drum solos (watch an old one and a newer one - he's changed things up over the years and has gotten even better!). Sorry for the novella. :D

Haha They’re so damn good. I just discovered them last year during Covid. Chance took Chris’ place in 2016. Chris Rupp, Adam’s brother, left the group to go solo. Chris and Adam founded Home Free in 2000 during college. Adam is a trumpet player so he can do so many noises and sounds…definitely a vocal percussionist. Tim, the bass, had long hair all throughout until last year during Covid and couldn’t get to the hairdresser so he cut it and let some gray show through. Austin (reddish hair) is the high tenor. Rob (glasses and big beard) is the tenor. Chance, ( short dark hair and beard) is the baritone/bass and was the bass for his group prior to joining HF. He takes the bass when Tim goes high. And yeah, Tim has a 5 octave range so he can sing low all the way up to tenor. He’s also got a wicked sense of humor. I saw them live for the first time 2 weeks ago and was in the mezzanine level and didn’t think I’d be able to hear Tim too well. Oh was I wrong, he blew me away. His notes go through you. Ok for more great bass, Brothers in Arms, I Can’t Outrun You (with Chance in the lead), Helplessly Hoping. There are so many songs and I think they’re better than the originals. Great reaction and I subscribed!

So it's been 7 years, 3 months and 2 days since I first came across Home Free. Yes, I know the date. Why? Because it changed me. It opened up my mind and my heart in a new way. Back then they only had a handful or so official videos, and next to no information about them online and they had less than 90k subscribers. It was incredible to me that not everyone knew about them, and today I think it's even crazier that they are not yet a household name That being said, I do believe that what Kenny Rogers said to them once is true and I see it as a blessing that they are rising towards fame slowly yet steadily. Mr Rogers told them that a slow rise to fame allows for a solid fan base that will always stick with them, and that it's to prefer. I know these guys are going places, although, they are doing incredibly well without being main stream. They did collaborate with Kenny Rogers, the Oak Ridge Boys, a Alabama, Lee Greenwood, Don McLean, Charlie Daniels and many more, and they were invited to perform at Diana Ross' 75 birthday party a few years ago after she had spent a while day binge watching their videos. So you're in good company. It took a year and a half after I found them until I got to see them live, before they did their first visit to Europe. Oh the first two weeks after I first found them I didn't every waken hour possible searching RU-vid for lives videos because that's what was available then. I kind of feel like Diana Ross now, just younger and without a good singing voice, and her money and all that. I'm going to stop now. Good reaction! 😁🥰🙏 Thanks!

Tim used to dye his hair. He's been going grey for a while but dyed it. He stopped after he cut his hair short. Decided to own it apparently. Oh, on the chest cavity thing. They are all large guys. Austin is the shortest at a little more than 6'1 so that might cause some of that. OH. One more fun fact. Don Mclean re-realeased his classic song 'American Pie' for its 50th Anniversary... feat. Tim said he wasn't able to get to the hairdresser/salon to get his gray covered during the quarantine so he decided to just go gray. He said, though, that he wasn't quite ready to be Willie Nelson with the long gray hair so he decided to get it cut. If you get a chance to see them live, DO!! As I mentioned in another comment, I saw them live for the first time last month & they were even better than I was expecting! And the concerts are fun - they love to interact with the audience. At the beginning of the show, Tim said, "This isn't a concert. This is a PARTY!" BTW, I have tickets to see them again in 2 weeks, plus tickets for another show in February. They're addictive! (You commented on Rob's voice....when Tim introduced him during the concert, he described him as "the purest tenor I've ever heard".)

Austin (thin and longer hair) is their high tenor, Rob ("The big beard") is their lower tenor, Tim is super bass, Chance (dark hair beard) is baritone/bass . Adam is beatboxer and sings in a tenor voice when he gets to sing. So the story is (Once upon a time) the group has been going for a long while now. Adam and Chris Rupp (brothers) formed the group while they were in college, They and Rob are from Minnesota that's where the group originated and they did not consider themselves a country group until Tim from Texas and Austin from Georgia came into the group then they thought there are no other country acapella groups out there, so they started selling themselves as a country group, then. about a year later they went on the show "The Sing-Off" which lasted 5 seasons and was basically for acapella groups. Everyone loved them and Home Free won season 4 of The Sing-Off and got a recording contract, money, and a trophy out of it. In 2016 Chris decided to leave Home Free to start a solo career and Adam Chance (everyone just calls him Chance because there are 2 Adams in the group) came into the baritone spot in Home Free. He is also a southern boy that grew up in Alabama. So if you see Chris with the cowboy hat, it's an older video and if you see Chance it is a little bit more recent. The end.

There are three a capella quintets that get top scores from me (In no particular order): Home Free, Pentatonix, and VoicePlay. Another reactor compare the three this way: "If these three groups were high school cliques, Pentatonix would be the Student Council, VoicePlay would be the Drama Club, while Home Free would be holding a tailgate party in the parking lot." Great reaction! Check out American Pie (with Don MacClean) and also another often overlooked song "Born In The U.S.A." which heavily features Adam Chance.

All you need to know... Current lineup... . Austin Brown, GA (high tenor, redhead) . Rob Lundquist, MN (tenor, full beard) . Adam Rupp, MN (vocal percussion|beatboxer) . Adam "Chance", AL (primary baritone|bass); (4 octave range) . Tim Foust, TX (primary bass|baritone); (5 octave range) The 2 MN guys still live in MN while Austin and Tim live in Nashville now, and Chance in CA. 3 very southern boys; 2 midwest. They are based out of Nashville, on their own label. They were on a major label, Columbia/Sony Records, and after a few album releases, opted to go on their own. It was a friendly split with Columbia. Chris Rupp (not in this video), Adam's brother, left for a solo career in 2016. He and Adam were the founding fathers of the group back in 2000. How's that for an answer?! LOL! 😀 Fun reaction! Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole! 😉

A correction, they are based out of Minneapolis, MN not Nashville. Their producer is in Lakeville, MN although since the pandemic they have been recording from home with software that lets their producer connect with them.

You must see Austen sing When a Man Loves a Woman, with the group. It is mind-blowing. Then he sings Tears in Heaven and the best is Austen singing Unchained melody (over 7 million hits!). It will throw you out of your chair Saucey! This group has changed my life forever! Blessings, Sandy in Palm Springs! (P.S. You must hear Adam's drum solo, but promise to review it live! It's freakin' scary brilliant!)

You MUST find a way to see them live. My wife and I try to attend any of their concerts within 250 miles. We just saw them a couple of weeks ago for the third time. It's always a tremendous amount of fun!

Oh what a great reaction...I love watching you enjoy this group as much as we do!. To me...all their covers are better than the original! You do need to see them live...I have and they don't just sing...they entertain! Check out a live video of Your Man or Ring Of Fire...Tim takes the low notes into the basement! Any one of the 4 guys can take lead....it just depends on the song! During quarantine Austin and Tim started their I own solo channels (no neither are leaving HF)! Check out Austin singing Unchained Melody....its on his channel...you will be amazed!

Love your reaction to these guys! 😂😂 You have a long, long road ahead of you down the rabbithole. And you're gonna love every second of it. I reacted the same way as you do when I heared them the first time. And they STILL amaze me. Listen to Brothers in arms. I saw the link on the screen. You will LOVE Tims voice...... But there are other songs that will blow you away to so..... Your choise.

They are amazing. As for the bass disappearing in other bands, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that many bands do not have a vocal bass. They depend on the electric bass to do what Tim does. Which he does so beautifully.

You can view their Sing-Off performances two ways: just the songs or songs plus judges’ comments. I recommend including the comments. Adam’s brother Chris was in the band then. In early 2016 he left and Chance joined the group. (Chris and Adam started the band in 2000 when they were in college.)

Thank you for this reaction. Happy you are enjoying Home Free's music...Lots of fun songs, some surprising songs and sad songs also. It is a great rabbit hole to fall into. Just a tiny bit extra. Tim is from Southeast Texas and you asked about him being with another group...out of College he was with a group of friends and was with another group Blue Jupiter...was asked to sing with Home Free and took a while before joining the group. Austin the high tenor is from Georgia. Adam Chance (Chance) from Alabama, Rob is from Minnesota and Adam Rupp is also from Minnesota. Chris Rupp when he left went on to be doing well out there. He has a couple of songs out there with Tim and one for sure with the whole group. When time is good for you try...Long Black Train...Chris with Tim singing...a Josh Turner song. No hurry at all. Hillbilly Bone...for fun...Blue Ain't Your Color...for a bit of a surprise...Friends in Low Places...fun. Any of the songs mentioned below would be great. Thanks for putting up with this long comment. Hope you aren't bored. :)

In your first Home Free video you saw a brief snipit of their song 'Champaign Taste On A Beer Budget' That song was written by Tim (mr bass man) before he joined Home Free. Word is Rob (heavy set awesome beard tenor) Suggested the whistling you'll hear in that one when Tim was showing it to the others. That is a great and fun song to react to but Home Free has its members take turns as lead. You haven't heard much by a couple of them yet. Please react to their cover of 'Some Girls Do', and maybe 'When A Man Loves A Woman' or 'Thank God I'ma Country Boy' (the last two are mostly Austin but I put them in anyway)

Harmonies & vocals are outstanding, Adam's beatboxing is outstanding and double bass at the end is amazing. Chris Rupp (Adam's brother) released a video of this song on 3/27/2021, a trio with Tyler Walls & Dr. Jeff (check it out). Check out One Man Band, Blue Ain't Your Color, How Great Thou Art, Take Me Home Country Road, Working For A Living.

While Chris and Adam Rupp started the group, Chris left the group a few years back to pursue "other interests" and Adam Chance (we just call him Chance to avoid confusion) joined in his place. It gave the group an even more balanced sound as Chance is a baritone who can dip to be a second bass when needed.
