This song is so hauntingly beautiful... I absolutely have chills everywhere.. these men are so amazingly talented it is insane how spot on their Harmony is.. This is why I love Home Free..🏡🆓🏡🍟
The song is a masterpiece of Home Free. The fantastic harmonies, on point. And then the voices of Tim and Chance, phenomenal. But Tim's super low tones make for an absolutely perfect goosebump feeling, what a voice - wow
Being more of a metal head, I can’t get enough of these guys. Everything they do is phenomenal. While this one hits harder on a more personal level, Helplessly Hoping is still my favorite. To all my fellow armed forces vets, past and present, thank you for your service.
Kevin is absolutely correct Home Free is one of the few a capella groups that can do it all and as a American Veteran you are correct this song gets the feals.
You are so right about the bond. I worked the midnite shift at a truck-stop many years ago, and I made the acquaintance of a man who flew F-14 Tomcats in Vietnam. He had a drinking problem, and would come in after he'd been at the bar and have coffee. He never talked to anyone, but he did tell me a little about his time in Vietnam. And One night when I was in there and it was quiet, another man walked in with an Air Force patch on his jacket. Turns out he was the pilot of an A-6 Intruder in Vietnam. The two struck up a conversation and spent the rest of the night in there talking. I tried to stay away from them and give them some space , but I could see that they were sharing stories and shedding tears . By the time they left that Tomcat pilot was stone sober. Before they parted they gave each other a warm hug. I think they both needed that time together. Great reaction. This Marine Mom thanks you for your service.
Hey HC ! Hauntingly beautiful...an aetherial quality & feeling. Home Free can be goofy guys in some videos, but they also are serious artists as well and so it with this artistic masterpiece. This is a cover of the Dire Straits song from 1985 about the dead frim the UK War with Argentina in the Falklands in 1982. Mark Knopfler wrote this, and this arrangement Home Free has done is a tweaked arrangement from a Finnish group from mid 1990's called Club 4 Five...incredible masterpiece. Please look up Home Free's two Christmas songs they put out last week...Go tell it on the mountain with a group called Texas Hill (it's an awesome gospel collab...it'll take you to church & put a smile on your face) and then last Friday, they did a cover of "Mary do you know?" it's simply stunning...they do it agaion. 2021 has been Home Free's most incredilbly creative year so far...
Ethereal. Haunting. Gut wrenching. Soul stirring. Angelic. The only thing missing was the seraphic choir backing them up. Excuse me while I track down my soul and stuff it back into my body...
I have watched your reaction a couple of times and came to the conclusion that no matter what you say,,, your eyes and facial expressions say more than any words you could put together. If no one else has said it,,, thank you for having the "intestinal fortitude" to serve this country. Keep on reacting!!!
Thank you for your honest, emotions with your reactions. It shows others they aren't alone in their own feelings and sometimes that's all they need to keep keeping on so appreciate you!
This is hauntingly beautiful! AND TRUE!!! I loved the very deep bass that opened. I think the 2 up front that you can see clear through are dying and the other 3 are left to tell their story! This is the devestating story by DIRE STRAITS that was written about the problems between ENGLAND and THE FAULKLAND ISLANDS! THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR SERVICE!
Thank you for not pausing too much through this one. This is the only Home Free song I yell at the reactors to NOT pause during, the whole thing is just amazing.
Their newest release….”MARY DID YOU KNOW”…..is pure AWESOMENESS ☦️🥰‼️🔥. You will love it, Home Free gives it their own spin, which gives m chills and brings me to tears. What a most wonderful Christmas song ☦️❤️🎄‼️☃️ This one is so hauntingly beautiful 🇺🇸🥰‼️
WOW WOW WOW, how intense thus came through my earphones straight into my soul ans haf to wipe aside some tears( again), i cannot forget my brothers in.... respect to all servicemembers worldwideThanks bro😢👍👍👊👊
You said it, hauntingly beautiful. It’s so incredible. Loved Tim’s low notes. Loved the echoes. Loved the black and white film. Tim and Chance looked ghost like in the windows. Good reaction HC and yes, God bless our soldiers.
Thank you for your deep thoughts, so sensitive and caring. My late father was in Bomber Command in WW2 and in his autobiography he paid tribute to the ground staff. They might not have had the "glory" of air crew but without them the planes would have been grounded. Also in an air raid they risked their lives to get planes under cover. Its not all about the famous air crew. Nana Karen UK
Brother, thank you for the best reaction to this song that I have found. As a combat vet myself, I was gratified to know that you got it. The analysis of the music was good, but your comprehension of the meaning and message of the piece touched me almost as much as this song always does. Thank you.
Love your sentiment Brother, I server in the US Navy...but This hits me every time I hear this...plus their cover of "Go Rest On That Mountain" tooo... that one gets me too...
released right after the Falkland Islands war of the early 1980's........many thanks to Mark Knopfler for writing such an emotional, powerful piece of music, performed well in this cover........."we're fools to make war on our brothers in arms"........amen
i know you may not see this but this verse i think perhaps describes what you were talking about so well never been in the service but i can only imagine that bond of brothers in arms “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13 NLT
Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. I know some see it as a "ghost"y reference but it strikes me as a reflection of the POW/MIA flag. We'll never know just how many of those met the same fate as the soldier of this song. 😥
No one except those who have worn the sacred cloth of their country and served……. And willingly made a choice to pledge their lives to their brothers and sisters can understand the truth you are laying down…….. very few can put that into words as well as you just did….. Salute!!!!!
The guys are dead. I just found out them standing in front of the windows, you can see through them. They are singing from the grave. This is masterful.
I don't recall if I've commented on this video. I've probably watched/listened to this reaction over ten times. I adore this song and rendition, but your reaction is very moving.
My eldest brother and I worked out to this album from Dire Straits... still in my head is a perfect focus album. Thank you for reminding me about it, shit..... that was mid eighties...... both bad and good times.
This song needs to heard by everyone out there. It took me seeing this video before I really understood the song. Yes, I agree that it is hauntingly beautiful song. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
The light shining through the silhouettes of Tim and Chance makes them seem ghostly, like the spirits of soldiers long past. I wonder if they meant for them to reflect the image on the MIA-POW flag?
You are the first reactor to this song who mentioned, "Survivor's Guilt" that you feel when the man next to you is blown out of life but they miss you and you spend the rest of your life asking God why?
I love your reaction and brothers in arms are there for each other and would be willing to die for each other, but one thing i disagree with what you said is about family not willing to die for each other. I think that is untrue! I have lost all my siblings, and i would have easily given up my life for anyone of them.
4:04 "Why am I still here and they're not?" The answer is simple...Because it's God's will, and he alone decides who returns to earth and who comes home to him. 🇺🇸
but it's written in the starlight, and every line in your palms..... we are fools to make war on our brothers..... in arms. Oh dear God..... help us collectively wake the fuck up.
Very Good acapella effort. Just lacks the haunting quality of the Dire Straits original. Mark Knopflers more broken vocals backed by his soul wracked guitar is , I think,a bit more heart wrenching. Written for the Falklands war in 1982.
