Chris Rupp stated on a review he did of The Butts Remix on his personal YT channel that Tim is double tracked in some videos but when they perform live Chris would cover the bass while Tim was singing.
i know Im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me
@@irachristian8797 Instagram should have a "forgot my password" link on the login page. They'll send an email to the registered email address and you can reset your password and log back in. 🙂
Tim Foust is his name as several people said. And he wrote this particular song. Rob Lundquist (the bearded guy) is an excellent whistler. He whistles in a number of their videos. BTW, if you're interested in some of their new stuff, they're dropping a new video tomorrow - a cover of "American Pie" in honor of the 50th anniversary of the song - and it features Don McLean! (Tomorrow, 2/3, is the anniversary of the "day the music died", which is why they decided to release it on that date.)
To answer your question, don't know about the double track on the bass, but I know Avi was just hanging around because they had just recorded the video for Ring Of Fire which he sings with Home Free...so yeah, he was there just to hang with the boys
Glad to have you back! Nothing to add that the rest of the comments haven't already covered, but very happy to see you back on the tubes. Can't wait to get the uploads of the podcasts that I've missed.
When Tim sings the lead, baritone Chris Rupp (cowboy hat) takes the bass line. Chris mentioned this in his own video reaction to "It's all about that bass" (great cover!)
Avi and the guys had just finished recording the video for ring of fire so they cameoed him in this video shoot as well. Chris Rupp talked about it in his react video to ring of fire. And since no one has mentioned it yet, Tim (the lead and regular bass) wrote this song.
I think some people don’t get that there’s a difference between casual listeners and active listeners (at least that’s what I call them) who love to listen for and hear and try and pick out each and every note and nuance.
I've noticed that happens a lot with web content creators ... people have an idea in their head of how the things we create "should" be, and if it's different than the what they expect they get weird about it.
I just subscribed!! Welcome to HOME FREE HOME FREE is a county A Capella band that does more than country. Tim Foust, the bass, Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, Adam Chance (Chance) is the baritone/bass, since 2016, he took over for Chris Rupp (one of the founders of the group), Rob Lundquist, tenor and Austin Browm high tenor make up the voices of angels. PLEASE listen to more.. If I know my Home Free family well, they have already given you suggestions of music. LOL Thanks for the reaction
First time visiting your channel; here because I am a Home Fry. Appreciate your reaction and explanations of both the music and background about production processes. Home Free has a very diverse catalogue and put on a really great live show. I have seen them 6 times and hope they are able to begin touring again soon.
Greetings from a danish fry / new sub , you are right it is Tim who hits the lowest note of the 3 but they don´t like to be compared and it is not fair , as they all say Tim is the master of the growl note , Geoff the subharmonic note and avi is the soulful/ smooth bass BTW all 3 groups are great friends and help each other with arrangements and often collabs , much love and stay safe
I lost my dad in 2018. I know how hard that is, and I think it's wonderful that something like this reminds you of him. My dad ran a computer store, and every time I pick up a screwdriver and try to fix a friend's computer, I feel him still with me.
Glad to see you back in my notifications! ((: I love your reactions and, for the record, I do not think you speak too much!! This is why I am here, for a more in depth reaction! So please keep doing what you're doing for however long you want, it's really great and I learn a lot. If I do not want interruptions, I watch the original video... I wish you a great day!
This was really interesting, thank you for reacting to Home Free. I'm glad to hear you are planning to do more. It seems to me a lot of people don't make the distinction between taking a talented group and making them sound the best they can with a modern studio, and faking talent with technology - they either hate that any technology is used, or assume that taking about how things are arranged in the studio means that you are accusing the group of being fake. As for the this one, yes, as a number of comments have said, Tim's double-tracked on the bass-line and Chris Rupp, the baritone, used to sing the bassline live. As for Rob, he's a seriously talented whistler - he not only did this in the studio, he did it live as well. There a number of fan videos of this and another song he did a whistle solo in, Rockin Robin, on RU-vid.
Exactly my point! Production value requires MORE talent, not less! Comparing Home Free to Justin Timberlake was a fun bonus that kind of popped in my head, so I just ran with it 😂
@@donhanson9571 No, he's just in the video for this one, it was around the same time they filmed the video for Ring of Fire. HF have said Tim double tracked the bass.
Steel guitars can kinda slide. Not exactly the same but still it gets closer than anything else. Rob however is frankly the best whistler I've ever heard!!! He's so on pitch and his tone is amazing.
Was wondering where you've been! Can't follow your streams on twitch 'cause they're superlate in the night here in Italy, glad to see you back on the tube! *Goes on to watch video*
@@MelanyBlackDH I hope I get to go some day! My cousin I grew up with lives there with his father's side of the family, and I've been wanting to visit someday (when it's safe).
@@DJSwitchPDX compared to the States, Italy's pretty small, but there is a lot to see, so if you do manage to come over eventually, you better plan for a long trip 😂
Tim Foust is the bass for Home Free and he wrote this song. I love that the boys can be silly. They don’t take themselves so seriously. They sing a lot more than country. Try Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Seven Bridges Road. They are so good and have done a lot in quarantine too with Tim and Austin Brown (high tenor) writing a lot of originals. Their covers are really good try them doing American Pie with Don McLean. He’s 75 and sounds great! Enjoyed your reaction!
New viewer here, just scrolling and saw your reaction to Home Free. I am a huge Home Free fan and would love to see more reactions from you. They have a huge catalogue of great music !!!
Avi is not featured on the bass here, but they shot another video that same day featuring Avi and that video is Ring of Fire. Two basses - one song, literally Fire! All these guys are friends, including Voiceplay, and they do collaborate on occasions.
I'm glad you are reacting/reviewing. I really enjoyed your Daft Punk PTX reaction. I think you would love their Country Fried Pop Medley. Some really sick arranging on it.
Just subscribed so I can keep up with the Home Free reactions. You may enjoy some of their quarantine videos... they put out a lot of music while in lockdown, and the music is amazing. "Quarantine," "Meet in the Middle," and "Everybody Walking This Land" are pretty awesome.
Now they don't have to do double tracking on bass anymore...Chris Rupp has been replaced in May 2016 with Adam Chance, who sings baritone but is a very good bass when needed. Tim (the guy with the low voice) wrote this himself. They are so much more than this song though....please react to their cover dropping tomorrow, American Pie, featuring the original singer Don McClean - tomorrow is the 62nd anniversary of "The Day the Music Died"
@@susanbradley5685 yes, but in my opinion, he should wait some more videos to do that reaction to really learn their normal rules in the group. Then it's even more stunning 😉
This is a Tim original! It’s funny to see Rob rowing No an oar” (up a creek without a paddle)! Both Tim & Chance sing bass parts!! Check out Adam Rupp drum Solo!!
Avi was just hanging out the day they shot the video. They had just done filming Ring of Fire that day and Avi was taking the time to hang with his friends.
Welcome to Home Free. These guys can do it all. Even when they seemed laid back and relaxed, they are very technical. They are their own rabbit hole. And they do all genres. For harmonies - Helplessly Hoping or their original Good Ol Country Harmonies; for R&B there is End of the Road; Pop - either All About That Bass or Country Fried Pop Medley; Funny - there are a ton but my favorite is their Butts Medley; Motown feel - Blue Ain't Your Color . . . . Love these guys :)
And there are a lot of fun live one's like Your Man where Tim blows the subwoofer or compilations showing the camera shake, Adam's beatbox segment, dueling harmonicas in Man of Constant Sorrow (only in the live) or even watching their growth on the Sing Off (but if you do that, I like Mrduckbear11 version cause I like the background info and the judges comments).
More than likely Chris the beatboxers brother is doing the baseline because he is a baritone this was shot on the same day they did Ring of fire and since Avi was there they had him appear in this video
Back again - I've just been watching some of your other videos, which are also really interesting. You probably already have some other Home Free reactions planned, but it struck me that a couple of songs that might work well for your style are On The Road Again, and Try Everything (which also has a behind the scenes video you might want to watch as well, originally done for Patreon at the time, but publicly released a few months ago). It's just a thought, and I'll happily watch which videos you pick.
This is an older song going back to when Chris Rupp was still a part of HF. Since he left and Adam Chance joined them, and he will take the bass when Tim is taking the melody.
Yes. They often have Tim record the bass line. This was definitely him. His tone is pretty easy to recognize. Sometimes for live performances Chris would cover the bass. Chance who is now with Home Free is quite a bass in his own right and can more easily cover the bass line now, but they still often chose one of them (Tim or Chance) to do the full bass line for recordings and videos. It helps the continuity of sound. Similarly, they sometimes multi track the tenor melodies, vocal strings track, and even the beatbpx parts so solos, descants, and vocal harmonica can happen.
It's nice to see your appreciation of the difficulties of performance based whistling...I would suggest a time-trip back to 1977 and Roger Whittaker performing "The Mexican Whistler". I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
Need to check out Geoff Castellucci singing 16 Tons. The song was made popular by Tennessee Ernie Ford in the early 60's. Most of the bass singers in these a Capella groups say they are baritones (with ridiculous vocal ranges.)
I love the song and I love his cover! There's a band I discovered years ago called "Big Daddy" that did a really interesting mashup of "16 Tons" and "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits. Just search "Big Daddy Money For Nothing" here on RU-vid and you'll find it!
Enjoyed your reaction and talking doesn't bother me all that much. My kids...for fun...are always telling me to shut up. I give back. Just subscribed.....love Home Free but also know you have to do other artist even tho I want Home Free. Thanks and stay safe.
Yes, there are some differences between the live show and the recording. With that in mind, I would love to hear your thoughts on their rendition of "Man of constant sorrow". Never saw someone comparing the recorded version to the live version, but those are quite different. If you could do a reaction first to the recording and then to the live version, I would love to see that. And of course, two songs in one video, it´s absolutely fine, if that video is 40 min long, I will watch it all the way through ;) Just subscribed and watched all your a capella reactions you did so far. I´ve seen a lot of voice coach reactions to these songs, but I love your different perspective on those arrangements and I learn a lot of new stuff. Very interesting, keep going, keep save :)
While Rob was whistling, you can look between him and Tim and see that Avi has made his way to the back, and is sitting on a mechanical bull. They filmed this immediately after they filmed Ring of Fire . Tim may have a tone or note lower than Avi, but Avi's timbre' is so much richer and deeper sounding than Tim.
Watching their mouths in the video I couldn't quite track who was doing the bass, so that's why I was thinking they might have dubbed it for studio and then re-arrange it for stage. Kind of interesting, but it makes for a fuller tone in the studio, and I'm all for it.
Chris is the baritone which is a slightly higher bass, so it's very feasible that he covers bass (or chance now that Chris has left) when Tim is singing the lead. Much like Scott does when Matt or Avi sing the lead for pentatonix.
Yep, for the studio recordings and the videos based on the them, Tim almost always covered the bass line in addition to another part, such as when he sang the lead. They do then re-arrange the song so Chris or Chance can cover the bass part. Although, with Chance now they don’t really need to do that as often as he is more a baritone-bass, whereas Chris was more of a baritone-tenor who could also do some bass.
Btw, Tim=awesome wordsmith w/slight sarcastic view of life ●FYI-'Champagne Taste' (wife.... spent all his money), un-intent- ional sequel:"Full Of Cheer" (wife left him....Full Of Cheer, lol)!!😊
Supposedly, they shot this video at the same basic time as their "Ring of Fire" featuring Avi. So...while he's in town, why not give him a cameo in "Beer Budget", right?? (LOVE Avi...oh my...)
Thank you! I really wanted to study radio but unfortunately my career path hasn't taken me there ... yet 😉 Check out my react to The Spirit Of Radio by Rush! I think you'll like it! Thanks for stopping by the channel!

Chance covers bass when Tim solos in concert these days. Chance was the bass in Street Corner Symphony, lost to PTX in NBC’s Sing Off. This video and Ring of Fire were shot on the same day so Avi was already there. I think Geoff (VoicePlay) has taken his subharmonics to a new LOW since Tim’s growl tips during the Sing Off tour. That said, Home Free tends to sound more like an actual band and limits the A Capella gimmicks like crazy low notes.
