Hello from. Minnesota! This was filmed in the bitter cold of Minnesota, which is where Home Free started. The Ice Castles is a yearly event that moves around to different Minnesota cites each year. This year, however, the winter temps in Minnesota are unusually warm (no snow yet!) so they haven’t been able to build the Ice Castles….yet. Maybe January or February? Time will tell. 😁
If you watched the end they tell you Adam arranged it and it's an ice castle in Minnesota 😍😍 i think your dog could be in Home Free 😅 he could do a little Tim bass with his snoring 😂😂 what kind of dog is he?
This is such a complex arrangement, but what else would you expect from Adam Rupp?! This is one of my favorites for searching for the seemingly small things that make it so beautiful. Thanks, Josh!
If you had watched the outro, as you should with all Home Free videos! (You never know what they will say, ask, or dedicate) you would have been informed about the venue 😊
It’s a great version. Adam (beatboxer) arranged it. This was filmed in Minnesota. They speak after the video and mention where it is. It’s so creative! Great reaction Josh. Have a very Merry Christmas! 🥰😃
For me one of the best arranged songs, or perhaps the best, of Home Free. So impressive! The phenomenal beatboxing/vocal percussion , the overwhelming bass(notes), the great harmonies, the sound effects, colors, etc. in such a beautiful but cold scenery. I could listen and watch this all the time. A lot happens, but not that it is disturbing. Just amazing.
That was actually arranged by Adam Rupp. This was a traveling ice castle in Edan Prairie Minnesota. They do a phenomenal job with their version. I always truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
Adam Rupp's original introduction to this song got thoughtlessly deleted to be replaced by the standard tour date boilerplate. I managed to recover the introduction, which I believe gives some great insight to his thoughts on making this arrangement: On the surface, this arrangement of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" sparks the imagination with different musical themes, and brings life to several different scenes or imagery about the birth of Christ. However, a deeper understanding of the song reveals a call for peace in a chaotic violent world under the simple truth preached by Christ: love. Originally written during the Cuban missile crisis, a parallel can be drawn to any time when the world needs a reminder to love not hate. The theme of competing voices is echoed in the execution of the 4 different vocal parts that come to clarity at the 4th verse and unify with the same message in 5 octaves: "Listen to what I say. Pray for peace, people everywhere." - Adam Rupp
I used to post this on every Do You Hear reaction I watched. I was so bummed when it was removed from their page so I want to thank you for finding it. Everyone needs to read it.
Such an exceptional arrangement by Home Free's own wizard and incomparable vocal percussionist, Adam Rupp ⛄🪄🎄 And such a nice treat to hear Chris Rupp's smooth baritone getting some focus❣️🎼🥰🎶♥️ #HomeFree #WorldsBestBeatboxer #HomeFreeDoesChristmasBest
It's about time you got to this one! lol Thanks for the reaction. I listen to this one year round. It was filmed in Eden Prairie MN and the ice castle moves around every year.
I was fortunate enough to see them recently in Minnesota for their holiday concert. They did this and it was amazing!! The whole concert was amazing 😊❤️. This video was done in Minnesota too 😊
Hard as it is I think this is my favorite Christmas song of theirs. By the way, the dog snores in the back ground just added to your reaction. Have a very merry Christmas.
Sounded awesome Josh! Don't forget to mark the calendar for New Years Eve. Home Free ~ "Old Lang Syne" It's harmony heaven and a great way to ring in the new year.
My favorite version of this Christmas carol and my favorite HF Christmas carol. My ear still remembers Tim's "Gold..." from their concert 2 yes ago. Merry Christmas!!!
Adams arrangement &, the awesome ice castle (somewhere around Minneapolis, changes location every year)…So Beautiful &, different ❄️🎄❄️💗‼️🌟 Thanks & ….MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY 🎄🎄❄️🎄🎄
Thank you so much for your HF reactions over the year--I really enjoy your smile & positivity. This ia a banger of an arrangement by Adam and is one of my top 3 HF songs. It is quite a feast for the ears as there is so much going on. Merry Christmas!
I was never fond of this song - until I heard Home Free's rendition of it. The singing, harmonies and Adam's terrific arrangement & beatboxing! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas - all best wishes to you and yours in the New Year! Love from Canada.
Yes this is beautiful! At the end of the video they mention that Adam arranged it! I understand that this is an Ice castle setup that moves every year! I also heard that they said Adam couldn’t arrange any more after this because he mad it too complicated!😂😂 Great reaction Josh!!
I you had listened to the ending where they sign off, so to speak, you would have learned this was arranged by the beatboxer, Adam Rupp, and filmed in Minnesota at "The Ice Castle," which is a thing that Minnesota builds every winter in one of the MN towns.
This was an incredible arrangement by Adam rob the beat boxer!! Be sure you listen to the very end of the video it tells you where they were and papa video was made! Was definitely a different twist on this!! Merry Christmas!
This is my favorite version of this song!! I respect the older slower versions of the christmas classics but I much rather get my foot tapping and enjoy stuff with a bit more feel to them. Great reaction! 🤙
As a former Minnesotan, who used to live near where this filmed, but now in SoCal, every time I watch this I'm reminded of the bitter cold and snow I left behind and don't miss. Pretty to view from afar. Presume intentional, but at the end of the video, each time the song refers to 'light,' the screen goes black. Unsure of the significance of that. Don't tend to think of traditional Christmas song as being so catchy, bit of a bop. Definitely has a 'soundtrack' quality. Adam's concept makes it a little less recognizable as 'HF' (however one defines that given their versatility). Never get tired of hearing this. Happy Holidays!
Love Home Free’s of this song. I really didn’t care for this song growing up till I heard their version now I love it. Merry Christmas Josh to you and your family 🎄🎁🎅
One of their best in my opinion, and it sounds like your opinion as well. Amazing Grace with Peter Hollens is special, even though it isn’t necessarily Christmas. Do listen to “Mary, Did You Know”.
I have always liked this song, but it seemed to be a bit draggy. HF's version doesn't allow you to get complacent. The setting, unexpected vocal decorations in the breakdowns, changes of pace and the ,Oh my gosh, beat boxing kept you in a suspense for what was coming up next. No dragging to be found anywhere. Loved the upbeat flavor. I agree this was a cool interpretation of an old classic.
I’ve loved this version since it first knocked me flat. 😂 Loving the channel. Check out Small Town Titans doing You’re a Mean One if you haven’t already. 🔥🔥🔥
