"Do You Hear What I Hear" is a must for you by Home Free. The percussion alone will have you out of your chair. I love your reactions so much. You make me happy 😊.
The man in the cowboy hat is Chris Rupp. He is Adam's brother. The two brothers started home free about 20 years ago. When Chris left to have a solo career he was there to help pick out his replacement... Adam Chance.
That guy, in the hat, is Chris Rupp, the founder of the group, he is Adam Rupp the beatboxer's older brother. He left a while back to concentrate on his solo projects and that's when Adam Chance joined the group. Chance's voice definitely changed the sound of the group as his voice is naturally lower and less bright than Chris's. I love both iterations of the group sound!
HF dropped MARY DO YOU KNOW yesterday. Everybody shines, but Austin looked like he was glowing from within when he sang solo. So much peace and warmth in his expression. You have to hear it. The highs are gonna floor you and the basses (not Tim) are going to make you melt. All this while still staying true to the lyrics. Enjoy
Home free....Do you hear what I hear. A must! Another older one, with Adam's brother Chris instead of Chance.... And... Adam did the attachment. As always, love to watch your face when you hear something you were really hoping would be there ...and it turns out to be even better. Very cool to see all of the appreciation you have for the artists you review. 💜
Home Free's rendition of "Do You Hear What I Hear" is remarkably creative, plus vocally remarkable, and don't miss their rendition of "Auld Lang Syne" come new year. They even make that simple tune sound spectacular.
I never tire of listening to this rendition. I was just smiling (listening to your comments about this at the start of this song) knowing what was about to hit you.
If I'm remembering the story correctly this is the first song Tim ever arranged and while he was in high school. He didn't even know how to write it out yet so he had to sing every part for someone else to put on paper. Great reaction.
Home Free has so many awesome Christmas songs. Collaborations with Texas Hill (Go Tell It On the Mountain), Kenny Rogers (Children Go Where I Send Thee), Alabama (Christmas in Dixie), the Oak Ridge Boys and Jeffrey East (Beautiful Star of Bethlehem); originals by Tim ("Full of Cheer" and "Snow Globe") and Austin ("Warmest Winter" and "Cold Hard Cash for Christmas"); and some amazing classics like "Do You Hear What I Hear?" (arranged by Adam), "Silent Night", and "Mary Did You Know" (and for a laugh "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer"). Lots of good stuff.
@@susansundaram6737 Yes! There's so many. I was just watching the behind-the-scenes video to that and laughing my butt off at the impromptu Footloose, the shadow monsters, the bad singing, and opera singer Austin.
This is an old video. The gentleman on the back left is Chris Rupp, the founder of Home Free. He left the group in 2016 to pursue a solo career. I believe he is a baritone, but he also sings in the higher range.
Yes, Chris sang baritone in the group, though his voice type is actually Tenor 2, so he was really reaching when he needed to drop down to cover bass when Tim was doing lead (though he has a pretty impressive range).
The gentlemen that you were wondering who he was is Chris Rupp he is the beatboxer Adam Rupps' brother. He is an original of Home Free before Adam CHANCE took over a few short years later. Adam and Chris were the ones that started the group. Thanks for your reaction on this. Such a fantastic job Home Free did with this biblical classic.
Chris was in Home Free way more than a few short years. Chris, Adam, and company started the group at the beginning of 2001. Chris didn’t leave until May 2016, so he was in the group for over 15 years before Adam Chance took his place for the last 5 and a half years.
@@jackmandu You're right....I know I made it seem like a shorter time then it was...lol My bad on that....thank you though for added info. I appreciate that.
@@djfromfla3105 - You’re welcome. I just like to keep the record straight. Some of my favorites Home Free songs are from the earlier albums, like Kickin It Old School from 2009 which has a lot 50s/60s tunes. It’s pre-Tim and Austin, but original member Matt Atwood does a good job on lead and their bass at the time, Elliot Robinson, is excellent. Elliot takes the lead on King of the Road and kills it. I also like Blue Moon, Under the Boardwalk, and Stand By Me (withRob on lead).
My favorite Home Free songs are the ones that begin simply and just keep building until the final resolution. They are masters of adding complexity after complexity. We should start a fund to help support dentists who need to deal with broken jaws as everyones jaw can only drop so far .
This rendition of this song is one of my favorite things I've ever heard. Your understanding of music is revealed in the things that you appreciated about this song. This thing punches you right in the soul, amiright?
The guy you asked about, with the cowboy hat, is Chris Rupp, founder of this remarkable group. He left the group in May 2016 and Chance replaced him. Chris is Adam's brother. Without him we wouldn't have Home Free today and Adam wouldn't be beatboxing. Chris is extremely talented and has a lot different projects going on. Chris did most of the arranging and his arrangement of Angels We Have Heard on High is supremely executed by Home Free. Thanks for the reaction, Jarvis! 🥰🙏
I think part of the "immaturity" in the beginning is because Tim is doing lead and Chris Rupp is covering the bass. Chris doesn't have the depth in his low range that Adam Chance does when he takes over the bass. Once they go back to the more typical blend with Tim in the bass, they hit their stride, as you noted. Having no percussion also may have contributed to that different feel, as well as the fact that Adam Rupp singing gives them another high tenor, so the first verse was way more in everyone's head voice.
its because they chose to start it simple. its not because of whose covering the bass. comparison is unfair and unnecessary. everyone is great on their own and they are wonderful together.
I do love your enthusiasm and knowledge! "That guy" is Chris Rupp, brother of Adam, who originally started HF. He left to pursue other options and Adam Chance (Chance) joined the group. Thanks for an awesome reaction!
Loved your reaction!!! Tim arranged this one when he was young, one of his first he said. He brought it out when he realized what Austin could do with it. It's interesting too because I think we forget without Adam doing the beat box they are even more out there with no beat or "accompaniment" just their gorgeous voices and each other to stay on pitch and bless us! Austin just killed this as he can and always does with that voice of his. Did you ever watch their live performance of Les Miserables (Bring Him Home) where Austin gets the chance to show his classical training? mesmerizing and leaves you speechless for moments after. Thanks again for your great enthusiasm you bring! Take care.
Yes, this was when Chris Rupp was still in the group…..(Adam’s brother). He left in 2016, that’s when Chance came aboard. And, he was an AWESOME choice 🥰🔥‼️
OMG...lol....you scared me a little at the end..lol. I thought, oh no, he thinks its over...I was afraid you thought it was over and you were going to miss the last part.....omg, I can breathe now, lol. Another great reaction! Thank you so much! You can never go wrong reacting to ANYTHING Home Free does! They truly are an amazingly talented group of men. #DrummingwithJarvis #HomeFree
Love your reactions and that you support the performers so much. This song by HF elevates life to the next level. Thanks for your enthusiasm and love!!
Love your reaction to one of the most beautiful Christmas songs ever done by Home Free. They're always pretty flipping amazing but this one... makes me tear up and my soul soar every single time. This was my father's favorite Christmas song, and he's been gone 36 years, but I still listen to this song throughout the year, but especially at/near Christmastime, because it keeps so many memories of him alive. Please, PLEASE react to Mary Did You Know (by Home Free) - they dropped their rendition yesterday, and it is PHENOMENAL!
I always enjoy your reactions. I love seeing your eyes pop and shine just before the big smile! I'm quite certain people have already told you that the man you didn't know was the original founder/co founder and brother to Adam Rupp. His name is Chris. I can't wait for your reactions to more Home Free Christmas songs. Tis the season in which even those who don't care for Christmas or celebrate other religions, or no religion, find themselves in the seasonal rabbit hole and are actually loving the songs! Keep up the wonderful reactions! ❤
LOVE YOUR REACTION! PHENOMENAL! On the drop from yesterday it also has a Lot of amazing percussion from Adam Rupp! So beautiful and with a little extra Home Free flavor with a dose of special sauce!
I have been lurking around your channel for your HF reactions and this is the one that hooked me! Absolutely loved your reaction, and that little nose scrunch Austin does when he looks at us like that is adorable. 😂
I am pretty sure that this is the very first time I ever heard of Home Free. Christmas time just a couple of years ago and I was looking for Christmas performances on RU-vid. And I found THIS. Amazing. And just like that, I was completely hooked. Subscribed almost immediately. That nose crinkle of Austin's. He is very good with the camera.
This one was beautiful. Everything about it was perfect. The panning around of that beautiful church, the vocals, the harmonies, and how they interpret things. I would’ve LOVED to be there to hear it naturally occurring with the acoustics. Great reaction! P.S. Voiceplay just dropped a Wicked medley and it’s 🔥🔥🔥.
It’s so beautiful. Loved the “bell tones” and they’re so clever with their arrangements. They sang Angels We Have Heard on High in the same church. The man with the cowboy hat is Chris Rupp. He’s the beatboxer’s brother. Together they founded Home Free in college in 2000. Chris left the group in 2016 to go solo. He was replaced by Chance. Home Free just released Mary Did You Know…it’s incredible. Loved your reaction Jarvis. They have some funny Christmas songs too.
Always look forward to your Home Free reactions, Jarvis!😊I never get tired of this one but you've GOT to react to "Mary Did You Know" that premiered yesterday! There are so many incredible sounds, your ears will think they're in Heaven! 😇
Definitely need to check out "Do You Hear What I Hear". It was arranged by Adam Rupp so the vocal percussion/beatboxing is amazing! I saw them in concert last week & they performed it live. Absolutely gorgeous! And also check out the one they just dropped, "Mary Did You Know" - prepare for chillbumps!
"Do you hear what I hear" is a good one. The other person is Chris Rupp (Adam's brother). Chris, Adam, and a friend started Home Free. I am still waiting for you to check out Hollens and Foust doing Misty Mountains. You were going to check it out months ago.
A super great video to watch for Christmas would be Voctave singing oh come all ye faithful. The tenor is absolutely amazing as well as the rest of the group. You will not be disappointed in fact you will be flabbergasted!!!!
WooooHooooo!!! I'm so happy ti see you starting Home Free Christmas!! What a fabulous one to start with! Love those *SHOCK* moments. 🙃🤣 You will be more blown away with do you hear what I hear! Adam arrangement & it's KILLER! 🥰
I am sorry that it took me a year to find your reaction on this beautiful rendition of this song, I liked it so much that I watched it 5 times .. well done
It's Christmas time and I love this song by Home Free. Check out their Mary Did You Know. It's all magnificent. Thank you for reaction. This is my favorite all time group.
I loved your reaction to this. I'm not a big Christmas music person, but this is pretty extraordinary. And don't miss their performance of Adam Rupp's arrangement of Do You Hear What I Hear. Fabulous!
It's so fun to watch someone experience the glory of Home Free for the first time. 😍😍😍 (And yes, the first comment about not being polished was incorrect. 😉😁)
Who’s that guy - in the cowboy hat-- that’s Chris Rupp, Adam Rupp’s brother. Both were founders of Home Free when they were in college. Heartily endorse DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR….it was arranged by Adam Rupp…so it’s a Christmas percussion holiday treat.
Darren Rust, Home Free's sound engineer and producer, who mixes and masters all their current music, has arranged their songs since Chris Rupp left the group in 2016. Tim Foust, who is an accomplished writer and arranger, swears he is a master and the 6th member of Home Free. Rust demos their individual parts on new music by singing each part. Foust says his demos are better than the Home Free guys can sing. Rust was part of the famous Midwest group the Blenders.
