Had my 35 year old self jumping all over the living room like my knees were 18 again 😂. Biggest trip down memory lane man! All this was on repeat in my teens. Had me beefing my parents over the remote 😂😂😂
As an New Yorker who tuned in to the UK scene via RU-vid around 2010, I am grateful for a documentary like this to help me understand the culture even deeper. Thank you for producing this.
Channel u will always get the respect from me,it was the best generation of uk music ever, coming home from school everyday and just watching U until bedtime
Nearly brought a tear to man's eye. When my yute's old enough to understand, this will be a must watch. Needs. to understand the impact of this right here.
Them times over today , the days where you had to be there or miss it , no video,no live stream ,you had to make real connections and be real or be outed
To anyone going through depression or still haven’t found yourself and your late to early 30s this video is a mind reset ! It’s never to late to start now keep going
Goosebumps before even hitting play. Channel U really was something special, you just had to be around them times to really understand how great it was.
03 I was in year 7 so going tru high school I got to see every stage of channel U and the impact grime had on me and my generation growing up as teenagers in London. So glad I got to grow through them times.
This popped up in my recommendeds. Saw it was 2 hours long and literally dropped everything I was doing. Unbelievable nostalgia right here. Crazy to see how far some artists have come. Channel U was truly special.
Growing up as a white kid in a small Lancashire town, we would never have heard these tunes if it wasn’t for channel U, absolute game changer ‘it’s murda they’ll find ya body buried in suburbia’. Thank you channel U 🙏🏻
Well done Link Up TV!! Big respect this was my whole childhood and teenage life, I would keep this channel on the whole day legit. The nostalgia is mad, more light needs to be shed on how great channel U was. Someone needs to set up a channel U throwback rave and just be running the biggest riddims in the summertime that would be so dope #ForTheCulture
Ahh this is such an emotional roller coaster. The scene which defined my youth, laid out in a single documentary...so many memories. I just wish I'd pushed myself to be part of it, one of my biggest regrets in life. S.o everyone who was part of it and lived their life to the full ❤ and ofc RIP Darren platt and Luke biggins fly high bruddas x
I remember paying £1.50 to text in and write a message that came up on the screen while videos were playing. Good Times, Glad this important story was documented!
Yo this was madness. Brings back so many memories. The tunes jeez. We need a channel U 20 year anniversary album or a Spotify playlist of all the amazing legendary tunes. This is the culture. Link up this was and is a brilliant documentary of UK urban music. 👏
What a throwback! LinkupTV you’ve documented this so well. Got me stopping the video to find the old songs on RU-vid and saving them to a playlist. Reliving my childhood in my 30s 💯
Historical. 🎉 Well done LinkUpTv on creating this. Don’t think we’d be around if Channel U wasn’t created. What a time to be alive. Remember practising bars in front of my Tv!
If Riki Bleau never crossed their path it would have been a rock channel The link goes (who ever invented garage to Ricky Bleau to Jamal Edwards to Posty. Those are the four people who without them there would be no uk black music in the charts today
@@solshields Love the connects. And I’d put Rashid just after Posty if I remember correctly. LinkUpTv grew from West Ldn, just after Grm were growing from East ldn. Then all the rest of the smaller channels started to do their thing. I wonder how the story goes next…
@Exkluse Media Grime Daily predates Linkup TV bro. If you gonna put link up you have to spiff, risky records, lord of the mic, lockdown records and so much more
@@solshields I do hear that. That’s deffo one way of looking at it. The intricacies are a lot. Either way, everyone has played their part and I love that for the scene
Words cant even explain what this channel did for me. It will always hold a place in my heart. Im sitting here watching this video and im gassed! Im jumping around, songgs ive forgot about have come back to me. I appreciate what everyone at Channel U did for the whole of the youth system in the UK Only love and light
Ngl when I saw it was 2 hours long I was like let just watch the first five minutes...2 hours later I didn't want it to end!!! Fantastic documentary Big Up LinkUp TV...👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
This has me and my mates talking about school days, time on the ends, the lack community these days and all sorts. Channel U was a big part of life man. Nostalgia hitting hard
The number 1 programme of my whole childhood. Saw many friends and peers on there. Everyone were official stars once they got onto channel u. It gave the communities a chance, a voice to be heard and the mystic of finally being able to see your favourite artist and not just hear them on pirate radio through the TDKs. This era is a once in a lifetime moment that can never be replicated. I proper miss these days!
OMDZ!!!! Channel U was massive part of my childhood without fail I would watch Channel U bk to bk for hours and I would never ever be bored!!! 20 mf Years SHIT!!!!! Where does the time go bruv!!!!!! Legendary Channel full of legendary artists!!!! Just exactly like the Choong Family song says it's taking me bk down Memory Lane!!!!! Bangers after bangers what a time to be alive fr!!!!! I need a time machine take me baaaaaaaccccckkkkkk!!!!!! 🙏💪🏆💎🥶❄💥🔥💯
One of the best documentaries out there. Two hours still feels too short. Could’ve easily been 5. Thanks so much for making this. The production is next level.
This is amazing please compile every song that's been on channel u my youth used to get grief for listening to channel U in Dublin back in the early 2000s 30 years old and everyone loves UK music these days amazing to see how far it's come
Man man MAN this brought back so much memories! Coming home from school and putting on Channel U was standard procedure....this was a wicked documentary, but honestly if you weren't around at the time, you'd never fully understand just what Channel U meant to us for real
Truely enjoyed watching this documentary! 💯These Pioneers did not get the credit they deserved. This brought back so much memories of my childhood! R.I.P Darren & Luke 🕊

Legendary! The nostalgia watching this documentary is incredible 🥲 Channel U was the channel of my childhood and I feel blessed to have experienced the music and movement on it start and grow 📈 and to see so many artists who started out on it be where they are now 🏆 Devlin's dad was right...all we can make is memories and Channel U gave me a lifetimes worth
Thank you so much for this documentary! Nostalgia at its finest! Still bang some of these tunes to date. I am incredibly SURPRISED at Nolay saying she didn't like what was arguably one of the biggest tunes of that era !
I'm 25, lived in the UK till I was 13 and my introduction to grime was Wiley x Wot U Call It via Channel U. So many memories that shaped my love for music. Thank you for this documentary
this was epic man, brought back unlimited amounts of memories from when i was a teenager growing up listening to grime! thanks for putting this one together!
This is epic so much vibes and memories, a wonderful documenting and creative timecapsule thank you for all involved! Shout-out to Darren RIP and the Channel U legacy!
Channel U did what it came to do. Thank God for the founders and the staff along with their hard work and belief in these boys and girls at the time. Channel U paved the way for people that would’ve otherwise not had the chance. It’s amazing to see many of them still thriving and on the mainstream scene now and living well. Everything in life has its time. God knew these guys would’ve had no other way out. So he sent the founders as a blessing to these boys and girls with talent and dreams. For that, Channel U will always be appreciated. 🙏
Great documentary, it’s good to remind people of just how much work goes into greatness before people see the final product. This documentary captivated perfectly. Big up Darren Platt too 💯
Wow the nostalgia watching this. I’ve got goosebumps. So many emotions watching this. Channel U was the soundtrack to my whole teenage years. Bittersweet documentary. Big Up Channel U what a time to be alive

This is well done. Congrats on filming this masterpiece. RIP to Luke, there are few artists, MC's as well that passed away and RIP Mr Platt. In the future you never know, this maybe turned into a show like they did with Wu Tang in he USA.
I’m just at the beginning & I feel like I wanna cry…I wish I could relive these times again. You really take life for granted sometimes…life was so simple & happy then.
