I used a packet of Unsalted Peanuts (the same kind you would eat as a snack) which are usually already roasted. If you are using raw nuts, you can lightly toast them in the oven if you like ;)

I’ve just learnt to make peanut butter from scratch !! My god ! I should have done this sooner because I spent so much money on gourmet peanut butter over the years. Some recipes don’t use oil but I think it’s a must because it really binds everything together and gives that silky smooth texture. Nice tutorial 👍🏻

It depends on the peanuts. Some peanuts have more natural oil in them, so you don't need to add as much extra oil. Sometimes they have less, and additional oil is required. That's why you only add a little at first, then add more if required ;)
@OnePotChefShow
@OnePotChefShow 12 лет назад
Store the peanut butter in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. You may get a little oil settling on the top after a while, you just need to give it a vigorous stir ;)

He used canola oil ie vegetable oil. Yes you could use brown sugar or honey. You could also dump in melted chocolate if you wanted too. Refrigerated peanut-butter will last a few months.

I put a tin of dry roasted salted peanuts in a sieve and rub to remove the salt. Then into a towel to remove some more salt. Then I process it until it is smooth. I never have to add oil. I made it also from raw peanuts but it takes more time. I never add sugar. I keepmit in the freezer until needed. Really tasty.
@OnePotChefShow
@OnePotChefShow 12 лет назад
It's a Russell Hobbes food processor. I recommend using a plain oil. Olive Oil could override the flavour of the peanuts, so stick to a vegetable oil for best results ;)

Just made this using honey instead of sugar, I just like the taste, & coconut oil. I read the different fats which allow it to solidify at a higher temperature keep the peanut butter more together, smooth, & less grainy. So far, tastes great. Also, read it keeps about a month in fridge. Love Ur vids. Thanks

This version would be fine for baking. Just make sure to give it a good stir before using it, to ensure any separated oil is properly mixed back into the peanut butter ;)
@OnePotChefShow
@OnePotChefShow 12 лет назад
Use slightly less oil and process the mixture less, or mix in some crushed peanuts before transferring the peanut butter to a jar/container ;)

I love peanut butter and make it about twice a month, but i do not add anything to it ,i just toss the nuts into my 600 watt blender and pulse until they are smooth and buttery or sometimes i prefer a more chunky texture, I prefer dry roast but i suppose you may wash the salt off and let them dry, Many thanks chef for some great recipes.
@OnePotChefShow

Guys i am ugandan groundnuts or g-nuts like we call them is the cheapest snack like bananas we eat them in all variations raw,boiled in the shell fresh from the garden and roasted with or without sesame sweet or salty and as sauce with vegetables,dried fish,meat,beans,bamboo roots its THE ingredient in ugandan cuisine it also takes roughly 3 months to grow so its everywhere we use a mortar and pestle to make the butter after roasting and removing the skin which is optional but guys you have tasted no peanut butter which you have used fresh harvested peanuts its so delicious, i would usually roast more than i need cause ppl grab a handful before you make sauce or peanut butter.

My husband always makes his own nut butter and it lasts a good month if kept refrigerated. He always puts it into a couple different jars so they aren’t being opened while on standby. Also. Don’t overload your food processor with too much at once. No more than 2-2.5 cups of nuts at once. Good luck! You’ll be spoiled forever after making your own! 😁

+Kad Fayrouz Stevia it might have some side effects,also it has some bad after taste "like licorice" .. it might be good for diabetics and ultra-low-calorie dieters but for normal people I'd recommend using little non-refined sugar If you gonna buy it anyway , Search the local supplements shops because amazon don't deliver to Algeria :)

If you make PB in a meat grinder or a grain mill, you don't have to add any extra oil. I'm guessing it crushes the natural oil out of the peanuts rather than just chopping them up. Gotta make do with what you have though. I also wanted to mention that if you store homemade peanut butter for any length of time, oil will puddle at the top. This is normal and you just have to stir it back in. Commercial peanut butter has additives in it to prevent that.
