I just thought this gizmo was cool, the effort put into hand making this impresses me. I do a lot of fabricating at my job but nothing like this. To me this is art.
This is a very interesting shutter, but it is nothing like a Packard-Ideal. No idea who might have made it, but in the 1880-1890 time period there were several shutter companies in Michigan, Packard among them. This looks much newer and could be a prototype for someone or a one-off home made. If you didn't get it working, message me and we can talk. Maybe a Packard would do what you need, they can be made with sync switches.
