#Home on ‪@PrimeVideoIN‬ is simplistic, both in narrative and craft, and overwrought. But it’s also a heart-warming celebration of family and the ties that bind us. Rojin cranks up the emotions, taking the narrative to a climax which will leave you teary-eyed.

For most of the cine lovers like you, Malayalam movies revolve around Mammootty, Mohanlal and other super stars. But some really good actors like Indrans, Suraj V, Mammookoya, Shine Tom Chacko, Joju George and many more exist and have been slogging their lives to get this respect. Good to see finally majority of audience are understanding the worth of such actors.

Anupama ma'am, with a lot of respect and also being a huge fan of yours, I can say this film was a tad bit long but calling it flabby and overwrought was a little harsh. All of my family sat together and enjoyed this 2hr 40 min film with ease, laughter and understanding. It is probably a language barrier that sets it apart for both our viewings. First of all, when you follow a movie by subtitles, the essence of watching the film is lost. The movie #Home for me as a Malayali, is very relatable. And I think it was the relatability factor which made the movie really good for Malayali audience while some of the non-native audiences really didn't come in to the terms with the movie. Also the scenes with a psychologist, I mean, are there any other movies which even cares to explain that a psychologist is not someone who finds whether you are mad or not ? I don't think it was like a public service announcement, those are things which we are aware about but happily ignore. People think that all Malayalam movies are say, like a Jalikattu or a Joji or a Kuruthi but no, there needs to be a good break from intricate layered tales to simple and relatable stories.
@rahulyatheendradas5532

It is ok that Malayalam films get 'objectively' and critically analysed too. Relax. Malayalam movies do not get exempt from such analysis, merely for being Malayalam movies. Not everything about is, and not every Malayalam movie is worth being mindlessly lauded. Definitely the movie scores in delivering emotions, particularly through the heartelt performances of the actors, but there were also some aspects a professional or passionate movie critic could pinpoint as flaws. Anupama said her opinion and I relate to that, and I am a Malayali myself.

#Home is one of the best movies made this year. It has a message for everyone and everything that we miss noticing at these times. I think the scenes written about visiting a psychologist , or about phone addiction were some of the best scenes ever written, along with the main theme about relationships. It also beautifully captures the essence of living life with a clear conscience and with no expectations whatsoever. Hard to digest in today's world as the movie rightly portrays. There is enough to compare and learn from the two families. No villains here , just mindsets. What we often think we notice we miss, and sometimes we may even get influenced unless we see things more clearly not just with open eyes but also with an open heart. Forced to write this review because I just couldn't stand the mix bag review from this channel.

But just 10 minutes through the film, I completely got immersed in the film that I even forgot that 2:41 hrs have passed. It was never boring or preachy at all for me. May be because Malayalis could easily relate? But I thought almost all Indians could relate. Or may be as someone pointed out, subtitles might be where you lost it!

Watching everything fall apart as I was growing, I started losing respect for my father becos I thought he was becoming timid and never taking risk to move the family ahead. But this movie, opened a lost memory deep in my head. The day he fought for my mother to marry her after she was forced to marry a rich disabled man. He won and therefore I exist. I will always owe my life to my father. His bravery against all odds at a time when these kinda things were abnormal, my dad stood with what his heart and mind said. I love u Pops❤

Why don't you put the name of legendary Indrans in the title or description. Is it because he doesn't fall in your conventional heroes tab?

I love Anupama's reviews. The effort she takes to watch good cinema is commendable even if thats her job! But for the first time, I somehow want to disagree about the film being too long. After so many great but heavy intense Malayalam movies, #Home was like a warm hug that I personally wished didn't end :) Being someone who understands the language the subtle humor beneath all those emotions worked like a charm

Indirans... he did a wonderful play in this movie. He needs a big applause! Though story is simple and true to current day happenings in many families, we should not miss the messages conveyed through this movie. It brings out the real maturity a father and mother should adorn when their children get older. 40 years back while in college, my father (who was a great manager then and a leader in his profession) used to say in our family - Parents should treat their children as guests after age 18. This movie reminded me of what my dad used to say about parents and children relationship as children get older. Also the maturity, calmness and humbleness expected of any Gentleman is portrayed well by Indirans. Wishing all the actors in that movie a great career ahead.... Joe

Suraj V, Indrans,Manju Pillai and other supporting actors used to play comic roles, it's only when they got a chance to shine, they showed their talents in things other than comedy.... Back then nobody would've thought, they could portray such roles with such finesse..

So happy to see all the positive comments and reviews to this film #home rather than criticising without understanding the concept. We all face this situation at home itself. But as usual, we don't care. Such a heart-warming film to watch with family having no villains other than the technologies who made a distance between ourselves and families. Maybe subtitles could have helped to find out the story but may not be so easy to feel the emotions unless you find this movie as part of your life.
