I deleted duplicate frames, stabilized and sharpened footage. Oosterbeek, Utrechtseweg. Germans retreating, first British soldier to appear with local guide, jeeps racing east with 1 Airborne Recce men, family of dentist Clous, locals chearing, Polsten gun, dispatch riders, wandering soldier, soldiers posing in front of house of dentist Clous, jeep driving north with local guide, devastation, Möbelwagen and Germans looking towards MDS-crossing, 1945 scenes, with Shermans and Sextons.

absolutely stunned to see my dad, Sgt Bill Bentall, standing next to his jeep with his bren gun and shovel on the front. I have never seen this before and and he would have really pleased to see this, he kept in touch with Dave van Woerkom who took a photo of him there and his brother Hans all his life and visited them many times. thank you very much R G Poulussen

At 1:47 a passing jeep is towing a 20mm Polsten cannon; 2:47 - 2:51 appears to show a 15cm Sturmpanzer IV "Brummbar," an armored infantry support vehicle.

No, its not a Brummbar. Its a Möbelwagen, Sd.kfz 163/3. Two of them where active in that area. Greeting from Oosterbeek.

I just recently read a account of a very brave man taking on a German SPG with one of those Polsren's and being killed in the process..they were meant to be used in the AA role

@@lesgl they were used for several days that I know of, and it had a multiple crew, Polsten was firing High Explosive 20 mm, so not a chance against anything German fully tracked vehicle, otherwise known as tank or equivelant tankdestroyer, might have been semi-tracked though or 6pdr/17 pdr/PIAT

Of the 10,000 in the division, just over 2000 managed to escape over the Rhine, approx` 1500 were KIA, an approx` 6500 POW.

I grew up near Oosterbeek and we used to visit the Hartenstein museum many times and one time I found an 8mm cartridge just next to the hotel. I remember thinking about how close they were as the casing drops where the shooter stands.

The Poles landed later but fought valiantly during Operation Market Garden led by the superb Stanislav Sosabowski.
