DUDE! Instant subscribe. So glad I found this video. I've been in the self-hosting game for a long time now, so I'd like to share what I know about running games off a network drive. I'm assuming you're using SMB, that's a great way for sharing a filesystem with multiple users. You get read/write access and some basic permissions with samba, but it's all managed by the samba server, the clients don't really get access to filesystem permissions like steam games would usually want. In order to run games (even AAA games), is to setup an iSCSI drive on the server, then connect to it using the iSCSI Initiator that windows comes. iSCIS is a way to mount a drive to your PC, but the PC will see the it as if it's local drive. iSCIS initiator will mount the drive to your system, then you can open the drive in windows Disk Management and format it as if it's installed inside your PC. Completely eliminates any permission issues you may have with steam. From here, the concern is data transfer speed from the iSCIS host to your computer. Of course, the speeds won't compare to having it directly on your computer, but, it allows you to never need to reinstall a game. Just connect with the iSCIS initator, and add the disk in steam. Caveat is only one computer can connect to a iSCIS target at a time. Hope this shares some info!

This did not seem like a video made by a RU-vidr as small as you. This is very well put together and very informative! Thank you.

The virtualization side of things is very interesting, especially with container runtimes and orchestration like kubernetes. Would love to see more stuff like that! Subbed

First off all, Nintendo's ninjas have been activated. 2ndly: great bloody video mate. For a small content creator this has a high production value. Keep it up ;) I gotta add to your Minecraftserver on a distant server. Tbh, it's as simple as downloading bukkit and/or spigot. On your server you get access to mods as well. In a nutshell you can just follow the bukkit/spigot server install tutorials. But then on your server.

That would be one cool setup to have 1 large server and then each small bartop arcade running on a cheap pc that way you can still play the power hungry😂 emulators on cheaper builds while it really plays on the server build. Now that is a smart idea

@@DualWieldingDad once I move i will be adding a bartop arcade for each console running on Hyperspin. A build like that would make it much easier and cheaper at the same time cause then I would just need a cheap pc that can run at least windows 7 to make rhe hyperspin much happerier. It may even run on a older windows, but I have never tried it before. If someone was using a front-end that was running on Linux then they have other options but I like hyperspin and kind of hooked on it as of right now 😆. It did take me a while to learn the picky software but I enjoy it.
