What a wonderful and innovative performance! I see he is using a baroque bow. For me, this performance stands right up there with historic performances by Grumiaux, Milstein, and Szeryng. But Hadelich’s performance moves the needle forward and tells us something new (or reminds us how this piece ought to be played.). Bravo!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hadelich has a wonderful interpretation. Bach is to large to have an interpretation that ought to be ! You are right to name Szeryng, Grumiaux and Milstein as great interpretations.
Dear Maestro, when I listen to you, I don't hear just right notes, perfect intonation and great sound. I perceive and see a huge study below, and a perfect awareness of what you are playing. In one word: I hear a real Musician. Thank you
Augustin Hadelich, new Heir to the throne previously held by Maestro Perlman. Such concentration, such FEELING, such PASSION! God bless you Augustin!!! 🙏🏼
Apart from Paganini's Caprice 4 and Sonata No. 2 -- Grave (both of which I'm positive Hadelich could play flawlessly as well), Sonata No. 1 -- Fuga Allegro is the most mesmerizingly beautiful song I've ever heard. And this performance imbues it with another layer of radiance that I doubt any other violinist could bring to the piece. Well done!
I really love this performance, especially the beginning. I love how the phrasing is so unique and you manage to make the bow look so light and off the string while keeping control of it.
Having listened to the BWV 1001-1006 numerous times in my life I don't remember whoever else was able to give the polyphony lines in this fuge each a distinct character, and have them articulate into one integrated whole on a violin. Love the open and free form of interpretation. I was deeply, deeply moved by the emotional charge it carries as well. Hadelich apparently possesses the rarest gift straight from the high above.
Absolutely stunning. I could not tear myself away even if I tried! The pace of the piece ties very well in with your phrasing and the acoustics of your living room actually add quite a bit of warmth to your sound. Not to mention, your technicality makes this piece seem so much easier than it actually is.
OMG...to hear this in Vail...and watch the faces of the blue bloods to see how many lose their composure. 🤯 Some may be more difficult but this is one of the most beautiful pieces you've ever played. Auggie, you are officially my #1 musical crush.
Augustin's elbow position is something I've been studying and trying to replicate this entire time. It's just very in position and the intonation is very rewarding!
His whole posture seems quite forceful and unnatural, like the kind of thing I would get in trouble if I replicated it on my classes lol. But as you said, it seems to be rewarding his sound in a very unique way.
@@bobafetteste I would actually have to agree. He elevates the shoulder quite a bit so the bow just barely scratches the surface. But it seems to work for him because the tone is just very natural and beautiful.
