You can put the whole flax seed in a coffee grinder and grind them up yourself! Whole flax seed are hard to digest! I adore your kitchen and know you will enjoy working in it so much!
The shell of whole flax seed can not be digested at all, meaning whole flax seed will pass through you and come out still whole. The dilemma with ground flax seed from a store is that it loses it's health benefits rapidly when exposed to sunlight and oxygen. Best to buy whole and grind with a cheap coffee grinder - kept for only that purpose - and only grind when needed.
I thought you’re suppose to soak flax seeds in water before consuming? Doesn’t flax seeds expand when introduce with water? I’d always avoid eating them lol I’m paranoid and would think they’d expand in my throat and I’d die 🥲😪
@@megggand I used to eat freshly ground organic flax seed three times a day, a tablespoon each time. Once with breakfast sprinkled in my cereal, once at lunch patted into cream cheese on my sandwich, and once at dinner sprinkled on my salad.Any expansion won't be noticeable as I certainly never noticed. I did this right up until my boyfriend, now husband, took over all things food related.
@@megggand gurl xd they expand and become slimy (so that's why i could never) but not that quickly and only by a tiny fraction, like chia xd you can soak them but they will still pass through you untouched. only grinding helps.
Im 75 and I nursed and at my time there wasn’t information on what helped produce milk. My La Leche League told me, drink 2 qts of water every day. I nursed till baby was a year old. Lol. I enjoy being with you wherever you go or do. Your mom must be so proud of you.❤
I'm 14 months into my breastfeeding journey and the only thing that actually works is water! Sure oatmeal and supplements can help in the way that it makes you feel like you're doing something and reduces stress, but actual results, ounces to ounces, the only thing that increases your output is increased water intake.
I’m 75 also and nursed my son for a year. I don’t recall any recommendations about increasing breast milk production. I wasn’t a member of La Leche League though. He was strictly breastfed and I think that was beneficial in keeping the production going. He was a chubby baby that first year so he was certainly getting enough.
Baby as he grows you need to increase milk given weather breast or formula, You do this by feeding/pumping more frequently.. Eat drink to thirst/hunger fed two boys for over a year.
My advice for anyone: I know you’re bottle feeding as well, remember to keep the pump on for a while longer, even when you think you’re done. Babies keep suckling until the very end on both sides. They do this as their appetite increases and thus they are signaling your body to produce more. You should also be pumping at the same time (more or less) that he’s eating, to maintain a feeding schedule.
MaCenna! In case you or anyone reading this doesn’t know - I just learned this about some pretty dishes I just bought - it’s so so important to make sure old dishware won’t leach lead into your food. 😢 We did a lead test swab on a new set and found the whole collection had lead in the glazing.
Hi Macenna, just a quick heads up about the flax seeds…they HAVE to be ground to be able to digest them, you won’t get their nutritional benefits eating them whole and it can cause IBS type issues. I know you didn’t buy these but: Chia seeds must ALWAYS be soaked before consuming, for at least 15 minutes. That concludes my PSA for today!
@@misslannie73 Most (maybe all?) recipes using chia seeds include enough liquid and a longer timeframe which will take care of the soaking. I just don't want you to think you need to soak first before adding to a recipe. You'll end up with soup and lots of chia seeds floating in it! 😄 🩷

i feel such a deep connection to your life and your beautiful family i feel like we’re distant friends & every vlog feels like a little facetime update 😭 you’re so amazing and talented, im glad to watch your journey and love your handy work xx.
So excited to watch this! Can I also say - it still feels unreal that Cade is here 😊 you and Romeo seem so happy and at peace as a family unit. The kitchen looks beautiful and you continue to be an inspiration to me ❤
Not gonna lie during the whole haul I was just STARING at that beautiful kitchen in the background. Feels like we built it together after all these videos! lol
Won't make a difference now, but for future projects, maybe get an extension for your drill bit. You might also get the curved extension that works around obstacles/curves. You may not use them often, but like I always told my late husband, I will have it when I need it.
Okay, second thought: a nurse told me when I was breastfeeding our now-32-year-old daughter Amy that you need to drink like a quart of water every time you sit down to feed. Also, Cade might just be in a growth spurt. I learned that babies grow a lot at 3 wks, 6 wks, 9 wks, then 3 mos., 6 mos., and 9 months. It's so cool to know that a baby can grow literally 1" overnight, just like a teenager can. So cool that you found those corbels for your mom!!! Love that estate sale... Yes, it's random-jump thought time over here. ;)
You can purchase extenders for your drill, that way it can get into tight spots without the bulk head of drill getting in the way. I have several sizes for my drill! That smile Cade gave you in the car was the best. How adorable was that to get a glimpse !☺️
Granny advice: Get those little protein snacks in too! I.e. cheese, peanut butter, beef sticks - that sort of thing. Good for you and baby. (I nursed five babies- [not at the same time, lol].) Thank you for sharing your videos and your life stuff. ❤
Brewers yeast is amazing for helping to increase breastmilk production. Vanilla vanilla extract same thing. Unless you buy like artificial vanilla flavoring and you don’t want to buy that pretty please. Flaxseed you always want to get ground or if you buy whole seed, grind it because your body won’t absorb it unless it’s ground. Amazing job. What you got for your mom is perfect And at the same time totally different from what you got. You and Romeo are doing an amazing job and Cade is absolute perfection❣️❣️❣️ Honey, I know the answers to these questions because I just had my 62nd birthday, and I had five children in seven years by the time I was 27. I was in Stam a full-time stay at home Mama/Nana and this is what I’ve done all my life. So when I say you and Romeo are doing an amazing job…. I know what I’m talking about.😉🥰😘😘😘
I was thinking the same thing! I was like, no, grind them first! lol. I also didn’t know if there was any difference between vanilla and vanilla extract 😊
It's funny that I would never attempt to build my own kitchen cabinets but cooking? How I wished I could direct call her and tell her what to purchase and walk her through that recipe. We all have our talents.
Better to get whole flax seeds and grind them. They can be ground up in a coffee grinder. You are doing awesome. Also, you can try mother’s milk tea. I used that and it seemed to help. I breast-fed all three of my babies.
You can use a coffee grinder to grind your flax seeds next time. We can't digest whole flax just ground flax (so you only get health benefits if they are ground) and once it's ground it has to go into the refrigerator or they will ferment. I've been on a whole new health journey myself and learning lots of amazing things about food! lol
I was so glad you went back that day for the corbels....I was having a panic attack thinking it would turn out like your counter top fiasco...that they would re sell them to someone else. Lol
For me, feeding my children is THE hardest part of parenting and it starts as soon as baby arrives! It is always hard and stressful, but hang in there. Be well and be patient with your body, you’re doing great ❤️
There is a lot online around foods to help with breastmilk. From what I have gathered, it is just the increased calories that help! Another huge thing to help production is more and more water. If you work out or sweat, make sure to add more food and water to counter that as well
So wonderful to see you enjoying the kitchen and your baby. Such a happy time in life. I nursed all three of my boys. They increase demand as they need more, and your supply will increase with them. I always carried around water, especially when I would sit to nurse. If Cade is making lots of wet diapers, and is growing well, as those cute chubby legs show, all is good. I use ground flax seed and keep in the freezer so it stays fresh. I Amazing find on the corbals! So glad you picked up those dishes, especially the tray. Can't wait to see the organization!
Recipes calling for vanilla usually mean vanilla extract unless otherwise noted (i.e. vanilla bean, sliced and scraped.) That recipe looks pretty good. It might be fun to try toasting the oats first to give you a different flavor. Your kitchen turned out so beautiful. I love seeing it in action. ❤
This is from what I know as a mama: The ground flax seed absorbs liquid and then acts like a binding agent, sometimes it replaces eggs in recipes. Whole flax seed need to be soaked in water to be digestible.
I breasfed my 4 kids and my nephew . What really helped me with my milk supply was drinking oat water every morning , lunch, and before going to bed. I had a freezer filled with milk bags. You should try it and see if it works for you too. ❤
Omg! Stop it! Just having seen the dang intro HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE YOUR LIFE!!!!! ❤❤As a mom of 3, all grown now, that feeling of just me and my babies having a moment,in a clean and beautiful home especially, I mean no words can express that amount of joy! Now back to the video….❤
The estate sales had so many interesting dishes. Love the blue and white oval dish. The other pieces you chose are so pretty. Now, your mama is going to love you forever with the gorgeous corbels you found for her. She's probably doing a happy dance! 🥰
It is good to have good senses ... like you. Falx seeds need to be in powder form. Yes vanilla "ekstrakt" and vanilla are the same thing. One thing I did for more milk is to eat "real chicken soup" even better if it is "hen soup" boild for longer time with a bag of soup herbs.
Great find find for your Mom. If you have a cookie scoop you can make the balls even size. They come in different sizes. Cade is getting so big! ❤!❤❤❤❤❤
A lot of people prefer the whole flax seeds and then grind them up themselves in a blender. From what I understand, the flax seeds that are already ground up, they don't last as long, they get rancid quicker.
Always store in your freezer in an airtight container. I've used ground flaxseed for over 30 years. I buy the seeds and grind my own with a small electric coffee grinder that I only use for that purpose.

I love seeing you both enjoy your new space so much; that kitchen just flows. Ground flax seeds; just pop the whole ones in a blender and whizz them up!
Laura from Garden Answer glazes terracotta plant saucers with a clear glossy spray paint so they dont leak water all over her surfaces. You could try that if you're okay with spray painting the pot on the inside.
The ground flax helps the balls hold together. The dried cranberries sound like a great alternative! Yum. Love the corbels for your mom. Good eye. Love how you always have each others' backs.
My baby boy was born a month after Cade! I’ve been watching you for a few years now. I decorated our first home last year with you as my design guide and now we have babies at the same time! 😊 Wishing your family all the best!
Love seeing his grin. He is precious.❤ I make something similar to that oatmeal ball you made ..they’re called energy bites. You will love those delicious with hot tea.😂
Hey Macenna!! Random comment/vlog idea from an old subscriber who can never get enough of your content - would love to see a video of you sharing other content creators that you follow and enjoy to help fill the spaces in between your videos (I appreciate you're only human) hahah I need my daily RU-vid fix!! Love you & so happy to see your new mama glow
Great video as always. Thank you for letting us in on your family and allowing us to watch your journey. Crazy how much has changed since you moved from that lovely little apartment 😍 oh and those little noises during the estate sale 🥹x
Your mother is "going to love you forever " 😂Those corbels are to die for .Cade is growing up right before (our) your eyes. Starting to make noises !!!!! SO exciting ,especially the first year and the year after that and the year after that . . .
I feel like you should build a miniature version of your kitchen for your baby's first birthday! kids love having a little kitchen to play with and it would look so cute in your home.
My dad built me an outside play house with a full kitchen when I was 4 years old. The kitchen matched my mom’s kitchen with black & white tile floors & all. It even had planter boxes under the front windows. I loved it so much & was heartbroken when we moved into another home & we couldn’t take it with us
Your flax seeds need to be ground, but At home. Get a separate coffee grinder and grind them yourself. the oils go rancid in ground flax. keep flax seeds refrigerated. they need to be ground because they create a mucilage that binds the rest of the ingredients. almonds are an allergen and contain oxalic acid so, ease up on that stuff. TRY Fennel Seeds though - not in your recipe but on their own. They are the best for milk production. Organic grass fed beef and lamb. Sheep's milk yogurt - try Bellwether or Old Chatham, they arent organic but they are both delicious. read about sheep milk , it is better for you. Steel cut oatmeal.
IBCLC here👋🏻 if you’re an exclusive pumper, make sure you change your silicone pump parts out once a month! The silicone tends to break down quick and it can affect supply!
What a great find! I've been looking for corbels for a while and they're either so expensive or just not what I'm looking for. So happy you found a great deal! ❤
I would use a small ice cream scoop for the oat mixture, it will stop the chocolate melting and will be much quicker 👍🏼 So sweet to see little Cade smiling ❤
Lactation cookies really helped increase my milk production. They are in the baby section at target. I ended up having a pack a day around the 3 month mark. It also made my milk a little thicker.
I'm so glad you grabbed that blue & white tray edged in gold. I'm no "expert" by any means, but that could be a "Flow Blue" piece. If it is, it's highly collectible!
