Thank you for what you show. That's very wonderful! i am in vietnam and i am very interested in this topic. I also researched how to grow spirulina algae. Hope to get to know you and look forward to hearing from you!
Apex Grower. love your work. I just started growing spirulina in my home in a 10 gallon aquarium tank. Can you provide some more details on refeeding the culture after harvesting. If I harvest a tablespoon of spirulina, how much baking soda, MaxiGrow, and Ocean Magic Sea Minerals should I add back to my culture?
Have you considered growing something in the spirulina hydroponically? I saw a study on co-cultivating tomatoes with chlorella and it had very positive results for both.
Question, please help: I can’t get my PH above 7.5. Im using purified drinking water and added 1 cup of baking soda to 5 gallons and it actually lowered the PH from a 7.8( out of the bottle) to a 7.5(after I added the baking soda). How do I get my PH to a 10 so I can introduce the culture I bought online. Please reply. Thanks!
Hi, Apex! I am growing some Spirulina and am trying to figure out the best media mix per gallon... I have found such a wide range of suggestions for grow media... What is your standard mix for a new culture? We would like to be able to make our own instead of getting Zarrouks off of Amazon...
Hi , i did just get started this year with mushrooms, you have a great channel! You made me descover spirulina today and you brought me desire to grow cordyceps militaris ! i still now know what the substrate is made of , brown rice i think.. i should study deeper into cordyceps, very interesting, i am trying to grow oysters
Can you start it from powder. I am wanting to grow it for fry betta fish, I can only buy dried Spirella from the health food store and want to try growing it from that. If I put plant food in the aquarium I get an algea bloom, don't know what kind of algea it is but it grows like crazy. So I am thinking that a little powder with plant food it should grow. With fish, I can't add anything that will spike the PH or the Bettas will die, they prefer between 6.5 to 7.0 PH. Everything that I have read says you have to grow it with salt and baking soda. I use a table spoon of salt in 5 gallons of water to keep parasite down but no morr than that. Under these conditions do you think it will grow? In Florida we have plenty of sun light an 90° temps.
@@ApexGrower thanks for both replies, I will order some. One more question... I used a commercial aquarium plant food and got an algea bloom big time. The odd thing is the color of the algea. It's Blue Green, could this somehow be Spirella? I think that no matter what it is, it will feed on nitrogen, so I am leaving it in there. But it would be cool if Spirella is in the are and grows when the conditions are right.
Hi Apex, you have inspired me to do research on Haematococcus. Is there a way to email you with questions? Really would like some help with isolation of algae against rotifers. Cheers
