Henry Bromell was a major writer, director, producer and so much more on Homeland until his untimely death from a heart attack in his own home. I taught drums to his son, Willie Bromell, for many , many years and became good friends with Henry and his lovely wife, Trisha. They invited me to several Hollywood movie premiers actually in Beverly Hills and would often include me in their social life in Santa Monica. Henry wrote some of the most dynamic episodes in the 1st several years of Homeland and is credited on every episode as writer, director, exec producer, etc. After his passing, the episodes were a bit softer in their dialogue and in the action scenes. Henry brought much of the fire and sizzle to Homeland and won numerous Emmys during his time .

I hate how Peter Quinn got a stroke because Carrie and Saul woke him up... that was disappointing when I saw how he wound up suffering because of them... and Quinn was a real hitter too... you could not kill that guy off because that character had it all... he was like what Brody would have been... you see the self-sacrifice of Quinn and the adverse sacrifice of Brody in the show... while Quinn was violent and Brody would not stab someone during an interrogation... the tale of two ironies.

I like how this show ended... it was classic with Saul trusting Carrie and she knew she could never come back home so she had to let her daughter know about her journey... people like Carrie have their life journey and they think differently, go the extra mile, and are often on the front lines of what matters big picture... this is why the character of Carrie Matthison was so classic.

*Spoilers" Good show. Some seasons were better than others, but in general, it was pretty solid. I loved Carrie's intelligence and ability to do "whatever it takes" to get the job done. I also appreciated that she was such an imperfect heroine. She's got A LOT of blood on her hands. She seriously contemplated drowning her baby and ultimately left Franny.....forever. Daring. The casting was uniformly terrific and kudos to all the actors you mentioned in the video. I liked the way show ended. Perhaps you have to suspend your disbelief a little bit to accept that the Russians would not figure out what she was doing, but it still felt right. I like the open-ended way it ended. I'm not expecting a continuation, but it does leave the door open. Saul and Carrie's relationship was fantastic throughout

Interesting detailed look at “Deception Indicated” with Lesli Linka Glatter. We thought this description of Carrie and Saul’s relationship was especially insightful: Saul and Carrie’s relationship is the foundation of the show. Carrie hasn’t done so well in her relationships with men, but Saul is this father figure/mentor to her. For him, she is a protégé. When Saul asks how she’s doing, he’s told she’s getting better and healing. He makes this choice to take her out. He takes her out because for him, it’s mission first. She isn’t completely honest with him and she puts mission first, too. That whole moment is the irony that makes their relationship complicated and layered and they’re not completely honest with each other. We can say that Saul / Carrie was one of the best-built characters in history - alongside Quinn, Brody, Dar Adal (and Max, Farah, Astrid, Maggie)... It would be possible to clarify the following doubts: - Would you like to see Homeland reveal how the CIA explained Brody in Iran and his death to the American press? - Clearly, Javadi's ability to receive credit for Brody's capture helped his cause in Iran, but did the US government reveal Brody's role in Akbari's murder? - Was your name cleared for the CIA attack? I'd love to know what you think. - Another loose thread: Paul Franklin and the murder of the "real" CIA bomber. He ended up doing that scene ... why ?? Carrie was publicly humiliated, beaten, doped, shot and put her life on the line countless times without hesitation, just to make others see Brody as she saw him ... and she succeeded. Abu Nazir, the CIA, Jessica and the show's own audience, no one came close to seeing Brody with the clarity Carrie has always seen. Carrie has always read Brody like no one else. Ah, Carrie's dialogue with Javadi was incredible, it will be one of the most memorable moments in the series, without a doubt! “And what you wanted, which was for everyone to see what you see in him. That happened. Everyone sees it through your eyes now ... ” - How did Carrie see Brody? and how did the US come to see this? It's the world? The 3rd season did not correspond to the 1st and 2nd as it should be. Compared to most seasons it was weak, as the plot and plot issues that were overlooked or addressed briefly stood out in season 3. There was no "hunting" in Brody's scenes earlier in the season to make it look like he really was desired NOS. Where Roya Hammad and his terrorist partner M.M. They were? We never received an explanation for the events surrounding how Brody's car was moved and his involvement, only what we got was the "real" author of the bomb at the CIA in a hotel that we must believe to be a super leap that changed the script. For such an investment in storytelling around Brody's family over the past 3 seasons, for him to just disappear the way he did, it was a waste of time - to make Dana's story worse, it was shallow. And all those scenes about Mike and Brody's wife continually in love with each other, and just ending up in season three were useless - and Brody's son disappeared. What about Brody's marine friends who thought he was part of the conspiracy? And Quinn's underutilization throughout the season after being instrumental in the beginning of the second season's premiere. All positive points, they should have made the homeland a show of this 3rd season and address every possible plot! Claire Danes and Damian Lewis gave us, in Damian’s words, “two broken-winged birds sort of hobbling and circling around each other” in Carrie and Brody in such a compelling way that even though it really ended in tears, it was a GREAT RIDE as long as it lasted. And if you miss these two as much as we do, you may want to re-live the LOVE with Carrie and Brody: Was It Love? YES. Homeland had a sensible ending, closed all of Carrie's stories, while continuing the ongoing story of America's and Russia's rivalry. The series ends, but does not end, only better than that was seeing all these years incredible performances by Davis, Damian Lewis, Rupert Friend and Mandy Patinkin ...

Of course, the Carrie / Yevgeny "relationship" is problematic, now do you think they are toxic? Because? Compared to the other relationships (Brody, Quinn, Jonas), platonic or not, Carrie had - in my humble opinion - YES. I don't buy the premise of the finale spoiler ALERT I absolutely didn't buy Carrie as a mole, and her "redemption" for the things she has done. Carrie establishes herself as the new top asset for USA in Russia, being a girlfriend to a high-ranking GRU officer.Supposedly, the viewer should also keep in mind that she has proven herself again and again to Russians as a loyal asset/tool, hence it should be plausible that Carrie would have some space to work with in Russia, replacing the loss of a previous mole - GRU translator. Why I think it is absolutely not the case: Yevgeny demonstrated time and time again that although charming, he is a cold, calculating and extremely professional spy, expert at manipulation. I don't think Yevgeny will ever as much as mutter a word of really valuable information in front of Carrie, let alone he will not have any valuable documents lying around the apartment. Russians at this level of the government are notoriously paranoid, and Carrie is not visiting GRU or other important facilities or people in her lifetime, at the very best, she will be under constant surveillance for the rest of her life. The contents of her book are not revealed, but it would be naive to presume that it didn't go through Russian censorship, with her in Moscow there is not a chance in hell that they would let her publish something damaging to Russia and not damaging to USA/CIA. As I see it, at the very best, they could leak/feed her fake information to cause damage to USA or simply waste resources at the very best. She already went through hell in a Russian prison-asylum, if she did not reveal everything then, she is certain to be squeezed for the remaining important information on CIA using other, perhaps, soft measures over the course of her life in Moscow. That's why the note she passed to Saul about S400 military equipment does not make any sense to me whatsoever. The previous mole, the translator, was a unique case. She was Russian herself, she "ran herself" from the beginning, she was working with top GRU officials on the daily basis, she worked in GRU building and was accompanying GRU officers on their missions. Plenty of opportunities to gather intel. In contrast, Carrie sits at home with Yevgeny as her handler/lover/ torturer and writes a book, supposedly with the contents of which are pre-censored by the the Kremlin. She wasn’t getting info from Yevgeny nor is she visiting the GRU. We aren't supposed to believe she's got access to anything (Yvgeny documents or internal info), she's just running things herself, secretly, dangerously. Whether she'd be able to do that under Yvgeny's nose for long... She got the info from the woman at the opera house, that’s what the purse switch was about. And it took her 2 years to get to that point. And she still had to covertly organize that operation with the woman at the opera house. She had 2 years to figure it out - Well, that’s why she recruited assets for the CIA for some 20 years and you didn’t 🤷🏽‍♀️ Double agent is just a bonus and would indeed be extremely hazardous but thats Carrie’s MO - livin on the edge I loved almost all seasons of Homeland, the finale was beautiful and emotional, but from a rational perspective it does not make any sense to me whatsoever.

Yevgeny Gromov character in the last season didn't fit to what he was presented in previous ones. He was beforehand a dangerous GRU officer who was capable of taking down a rogue Russian intelligence agent like Ivan Krupin.

I'm from the UK and this has to be one of the all time classics on british tv. I watched Every episode avidly. Everyone was brilliant super acting and super stories for 8yrs.. it will be sorely missed. Even loved the strange music haunting and so distinctive... Thanks for 8 great years of a great series....!!

Peter Quinn - the missing years while he was killing terrorists in the middle east should show up in a K-Drama! That would be awesome to let Quinn do his badass thing in a K-Drama (probably best around 2013/2014). Could you see Quinn showing up in a K-Drama to take care of company business back during those years? Would have to happen soon before he gets too much older.

Best show ever! I’m having trouble finding another one that can match the intensity, the quality of acting and the brilliant writing. Wish I could follow the writers to their next project! I hope they stick together ... this team is SOOOOO good.

Clare Danes played the role of a life time. And Mandy Pantinkin's role tethered her character to reality while also challenging her reality. Brilliant.

LOVED Homeland with all its twists and turns.I love it when the story is very unpredictful (too many are), but must admit I missed Brody in later episodes.Stopped watching for 2 uears after his death...He was the only man she really loved, and one can see hints of that threwout the following episodes.. I HATED him at first, but when I realized he was jjust beeing used as a pawn all the time, I felt for him... WHAT an amazing cast they had!!!! One of the best show EVER!!!! RIP Helen, and condolences to Damian and his family ❤️!!!!

I first watched "HOMELAND" through a DVD set in early 2018, and I eventually got all the shows in my collection, but as of this writing, I am extremely pissed as to why the final season of this former Showtime TV series from the now defunct Fox 21, now a Walt Disney property as of 2019, was never released on DVD, especially when Rupert Murdoch ended 85 years of 20th Century Fox, and sold the studio assets to Disney, which was extremely stupid! To this day, after the final season aired in 2020, it was never released on DVD, which is greatly unacceptable-you don't short change loyal consumers and fans by leaving them in a black void, especially with only seven of the eight seasons of "HOMELAND" available, nor would I put this kind of stupidity pass Disney!

@@hilaryrussell5804 I disagree. She was also pretty honest and she said she'd never do to her child what her mother did to her. So what she did was especially cruel. So for ME, that was out of character.

This show was so powerful. I loved how they tried to find those terrorists and try to resolve their conflicts. It was cool seeing how the CIA was trying to figer out what all those countries are doing and trying to control people within other governments. I wish in real life America would leave the Middle East and let them do what they want to do. This show is one I would recommend to everyone. The actors were great and the story line flowed very nicely.
