In her final moments, the wife reaches out to her husband, calling his name, rather than pleading for her own life. That these people truely loved each other made his deed all the more monstrous.

Imagine how chilling it was for that man. Being with his family starting to freeze from how high they were pleading with who you believe is a hero to bring you back down and the first thing he says is "it's all shit you know."

What I find creepy was his face. When killing that family he did not look angry or upset just bored. He committed the whole scene with a sense of ennui. Killing someone in a fit of superpowered rage is one thing but to casually take someone's life with the same amount of emotions as killing a character in a video game, that is something else.

"It's all shit, you know." I read it in Anthony Starr's voice, and immediately I need this scene in the series.

N this is why I'd choose omni man over homelander, omni man had his duty, he does not.

I think the scarier thing is the people all around him who just let it happen. Not one went to save the family.

What’s so chilling about this is that every other kill up until now has had a reason, no matter how trivial. This one is just “because he could”

It’s too grimdark. I mean you’re telling me not one of these guys had enough of a moral compass to try to help the family? Even in something like injustice which I think also try’s a bit too hard, people go against Superman time to time. They get killed but they often act knowing this but still going against him anyway. The world of the boys is so nihilistic and so against being anything remotely “comic booky” or specifically “marvel comic booky” that it often sabotages itself in order to continue its dark facade.

This makes Omni-Man’s brutal slaughter of him in death battle all the more satisfying.

It was basically the experience of someone being in a motorcycle with their friend, who is driving and suddenly starts talking about how shit life is, before directing the bike on to a tree and jumping out at the last minute

Why does some people want to deal with homelander instead of Omni man?

This is kind of an analogy for when people meet their celeb heroes and have a horrific experience. Reality bites.

Comic Book Homelander is just senselessly evil for no reason, all part of Garth Ennis' gratuitously edgy and nihilistic vision. The shtick gets old quickly. TV Homelander is better-written and more nuanced by light years. He's evil but for conceivable reasons. The show is actually compelling fiction. Ennis' comics are just murder and torture porn.

Not a SINGLE "hero" helped? Out of ALL that were there?! If they already showed that much indifference they wouldn't have been fucking heros in the first place no?! Idk. Seems like this comic is just nihilism for the sake of it rather than building any real plot.

I was in utterly shock when I saw this in the comics. This was one of the most disturbing thing I've ever read in a comic. The pure nonchalantness on his face when he does it. Jeez..

in a comic series full of all kinds of cruelty and perversions this was the "scene", for lack of a better word, that disturbed me the most. first he tortures them with cold then just drops them with all the thought and emotion of tossing a gum wrapper on the ground. poor family. blood chilling stuff...

Something that makes it even more disturbing is Homelander doesn't even seem particularly interested in the family when he kills them . He never raises his voice , he speaks to them with casual indifference ,like he was having a conversation with a friend about a service he thought was overated , only that friend is a complete stranger that he's sending hurling to his death . It makes it even more chilling for the family . There's no rescue , no words of assurance that they'll be okay , just " It's all shit you know", basically telling them they're lives and everything they've enjoyed have been worthless and all for nothing . To think that the very person they looked upto as a hero, turned out to be a heinous sociopath who revealed he couldn't care less about them before sending them to their deaths from high above . At that point you can only hope the family died from the cold atmosphere and lack of oxygen in the sky ,before plummeting to their deaths.

How many other people immediately tried to imagine Superman or someone else saving the family? It's a terrible thing to see an innocent person beg for their life and that of their family.

I was reading a comment under this video stating how the comic is too “grimdark”. I do agree and the live action adaptation is better by miles but sadly….we live in times where people think it’s humorous and cool to be overly dark. It’s not, that’s what makes the show so good. It actually knows how to have fun and it never really goes too far, even with all of the sick and intense things that happen. I just hope this fan base doesn’t become like legit Homelander fans. Insecure, child-like adults who are too afraid to confront their problems so they attach themselves to a despicable, fictional character. It’s sorta like a “he’s literally me” thing. Some people just won’t admit their truth to avoid controversy, pathetic people
