Homeless senior in Boston. David sleeps outside even in the winter.

Eight years ago David was buying a two-story house. It took six months for his life to fall apart. David is now homeless in Boston.
David has slept outside in a tent for four years even in the winter that covered Boston with eight feet of snow.
David panhandles to survive. He says you do what you have to do. David is on a housing waiting list, but so far nothing has happened!
David says people should treat homeless people on an individual basis. He doesn't drink or use drugs, but people wrongly believe every homeless person does.

About Invisible People:
Since its launch in November 2008, Invisible People has leveraged the power of video and the massive reach of social media to share the compelling, gritty, and unfiltered stories of homeless people from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. The vlog (video blog) gets up close and personal with veterans, mothers, children, layoff victims and others who have been forced onto the streets by a variety of circumstances. Each week, they're on InvisiblePeople.tv, and high traffic sites such as RU-vid, Twitter and Facebook, proving to a global audience that while they may often be ignored, they are far from invisible.
Invisible People goes beyond the rhetoric, statistics, political debates, and limitations of social services to examine poverty in America via a medium that audiences of all ages can understand, and can't ignore. The vlog puts into context one of our nation's most troubling and prevalent issues through personal stories captured by the lens of Mark Horvath - its founder - and brings into focus the pain, hardship and hopelessness that millions face each day. One story at a time, videos posted on InvisiblePeople.tv shatter the stereotypes of America's homeless, force shifts in perception and deliver a call to action that is being answered by national brands, nonprofit organizations and everyday citizens now committed to opening their eyes and their hearts to those too often forgotten.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the way we think about people experiencing homelessness.

I’ve been in & out of homelessness several times. I’ve met some of the most amazing, creative, talented & compassionate people out there... I’m probably gonna be returning to it now (it’s aug 2020 & rn I’m sure many are & I hope these first timers get to learn up close & personal how unnecessarily cruel US policies are. We leave our poor to die. I don’t hold resentment, but I worry about some of the kids out there, nobody deserves to be ignored, dehumanized... especially kids. Thank you for posting this & most of the comments here give me more hope in people than I had before reading them. ✌️❤️🏳️‍🌈

These people have absolutely nothing, and when asked what they might wish for, they almost always have to think, and always, they are the simplest things. Not a fancy car, a super hot wife, or 10 million dollars, but usually just some peace and a place to rest their head. For this guy, the only thing he wishes for is that his family and the people around him are happy. I doubt there are many of us who would have responded the same. Very telling and amazing!

This can happen to any of us. As a person gets older, it gets harder to keep making money. I'm 44 and have twenty more years to work still. What I don't understand is someone in their sixties being homeless. They are eligible for HUD senior housing at that age. Even if they only make 900 in SSI, they pay just 300 in rent. Everything is included with it also. Plus their eligible for food stamps. Nobody in their sixties should be homeless. That's unless they've never worked in their lives.

Today had a high of 27 degrees Fahrenheit, but it was closer to 23, when I saw a young couple, with looks on their faces, like people who have no permanent home. I saw them in several places within the square, each time I went out. The young man was staring intently at his smart phone, and the young woman was gazing straight ahead. I offered them hygiene things, which they accepted, in a bewildered manner. I walked away, but had to go back. I asked the young woman if she needed feminine hygiene products, and she said, "Yes," so I responded, "Okay, let's go into CVS." We exchanged names, and Julia and I spoke. She is homeless, because, "My mother stopped loving me." "Cripes, that's tough," she seemed to be comfortable that I seem to understand more than the average person. While we were in the correct aisle, we kind of meandered up and down, chatting intently. I asked what she wanted, and she told me that they supply all that stuff at the Shelter on Albany Street. I realized that she just wanted a shoulder. She is mentally impaired, and is waiting for Mass Health to kick in. Julia needs more help than she is getting. She lives in the shelter with her boyfriend, his mother, and his sister. They get split up at night, by gender and age. She can't sleep with her boyfriend's mother, only his sister. Julia asked if she will see me again, because the shelter is 1/2 mile from my work place. I assured her that she shall see me, again. She almost smiled, but she still looked apprehensive. I shall be overjoyed if she ever lets me hug her. Merry Daze, be Your Own Jesus.

Making the inability to buy or rent a home illegal means making it illegal to not have enough money. Talk like that, wherever and whenever it occurs in any civilization, breeds wars and revolutions fought with justification.

I used to work at Cumberland Farms in Braintree about 4 years ago. He came in almost every. Really nice guy, never asked for anything for free. Told me he used to love in texas. His reason for being homeless is a little confusing to me. He didn't get into specifics but he told me he hold to leave his family for them to live a better life. He's even brought his daughter into cumbies and said she was visiting him. He told me he has happen to build a little home behind a store, he told me where bit I don't say it on here, and he claims he managed to build something for running water(theres a river where he sleeps) and got propane for heat. He said it gets so hot in his little bit that he actually has to take his clothes off. He is a strange guy and I don't understand his story to well but he is a really nice person.

He is such a good man. You can see the light in his eyes. These are the people who God almighty loves. This man is full of wisdom. All he wants is for people to do well. Where is his family; I guess they don't have the same wish for him. It is hard to make it on your own especially when you are old I imagine. You are just weak and tired and want to take it easier. He is so right that you must judge everyone as an individual and that you just make it the best you can and not feel sorry for yourself. He is a really good guy. Such a shame this is where people like him end up. But I notice the people walking past him aren't as nasty as the people walking past the guy in Santa Monica. I guess Boston is less stuck up or alt right.
