Took a chance on a very early saw- this was the description:
“Selling off a few more chainsaws that my grandfather had in the garage at the lake house. This one was hanging up on display in there. Somewhat rare 5-30 Homelite. Nice and clean looking saw. He had it marked that it runs. Who knows when the last time that was. It pulls over nice and strong my uncle said. Selling it as you see it for parts or repair because it has sat in there untouched for a few years. Also we know nothing of its history. Please judge this purchase by the photo's. I guess grandpa really maintained his equipment. Aside from missing a few rare parts such as the shroud and the recoil cover-and that the starter cable kept coming unspooled- after 15 short pulls it cracked to life. I let it warm up, shut it off, sprayed the 1/2” pitch chain with Kroil (it’s extra stiff) and then grabbed this video. I have not even touched the carburetor. I believe it might have an air leak unfortunately as it took a bit to return to idle. Could also be sticky linkage.
