hi guys, Australia here, simply loved this. it works brilliantly first time. thinking of doing the same thing for a 6 meter (20ft) wide slab in my garage. Question, do you let the motor do the vibrating by itself or do you use offset flywheel. I am thinking of using my stump hole digger as the vibrator and using it to pull the unit forward as it has a slow reduction gear box
Hi Australia 🙂 hope your doing well over there. The vibration from the motor did it. We had used a crank pulley on each side of the big barn door to pull the screed slowly across the top of the wet concrete. It worked out great. We ended up putting a 10 ton truck hoist in the concrete about 8 weeks later for a mechanic shop and it's still on great shape today. Good luck with your project, take care mate
This method will work! But the concrete needs to be wetter than a typical concrete pour for the screed to work properly and don't overload the front of the screed or the back will lift. I built mine with 2x6 and added more stiffening to the frame and more weight. I used two eye bolts to gently pull it with a rope attached to my kubota.
I'd bet it's floating on the mud enough to not make that a big deal. Still good enough for a concrete floor you saved 6 grand on doing it yourself. Lol
We are having a problem with our whiteman power screed not propelling itself as it's supposed to do. It runs, it vibrates, but it will not propel itself. It has something to do with the worm not functioning properly. Anybody know anything about this?
There are crank pulleys on the wall at each side of the big barn door. Cranked the pulley to pull the screed across the top of the wet concrete 😉 worked like a charm and this was our very first diy concrete job ever. Good luck!
He was not pouring cement he was pouring concrete cement is what makes concrete this person comments shows lack of knowledge a person that doses this as a occupation or has knowledge if he was doing it right would not make that comment. Nice job great idea
