Here's a simple and delicious recipe for Alfredo pasta:
Classic Alfredo Pasta Recipe
Ingredients:
- 12 ounces fettuccine pasta
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
#### Instructions:
1. **Cook the Pasta**:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the fettuccine and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
- Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set it aside.
2. **Prepare the Alfredo Sauce**:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
3. **Add the Cream**:
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly.
4. **Incorporate the Cheese**:
- Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until it melts and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
5. **Combine Pasta and Sauce**:
- Add the cooked fettuccine to the skillet and toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
- If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water, a little at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
6. **Serve**:
- Transfer the Alfredo pasta to serving plates.
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired.
7. **Enjoy**:
- Serve immediately while hot.
Tips:
- For a richer flavor, you can add a bit of grated nutmeg to the sauce.
- You can also add cooked chicken, shrimp, or vegetables like broccoli or peas to make the dish more substantial.
