We used to keep a few olives on our dinner table (our cat hated them) When she would meow and beg at dinner time we'd offer her an olive. Thinking that that's what we ate when we sat down at the table, she became uninterested in what we were eating and eventually stopped begging for food when we would sit down for a meal.
