As a professional I’m going to say this is a tried and true method for deep cleaning secondary to steam( not really steam) hot water extraction professionally done. One suggestion would be to use a one gallon pump up sprayer or the equivalent for pre treat and complete pray of area to be cleaned ( be sure not to spray more than you can clean with one fill of the machine) and don’t allow to dry. Fill machine with hot tap( as hot as you can get) let pre spray dwell for five min or so as you address stains with brush or dog bone scraper( working from outside to inside of stain. Then use the agitator/roller brush to agitate the entire area then hot water extraction can begin. you can also apply concentrate with the machine, allow dwell time, agitate, then run a rinse ( three steps) with the same machine. It is vital to remove as much water and soap as wicking will occur ( soaps left behind and moisture will drive dirt that the machine can’t reach to the surface) to ensure any surfactants left behind are neutralised, you can use white distilled vinegar ( 4-6 ounces to the gal) in your rinse. This will relinquish any further action from the soap, and carpets will stay cleaner longer. Hope this helps.
Go to Lowes, Home Depot, hardware store or paint supply store and buy a pint, quart can of acetone. Use acetone and lightly saturate nail polish stain. Let sit for about 5 minutes. Using a clean cloth blot the stain inwards towards center of stain. Don’t scrub the stain outwards towards edge of stain since that will only spread the stain. Most of the stain should come up. It won’t remove all the stain.
I just got so sick and tired of buying cleaning solutions for my supplier so I saw this video and I tried it I cleaned a customers 7 room home and It works amazing. and I incread my proffits too. Thanks Karrie for your Happy Money Saver ideas.
Same! I was so sick and tired of paying $15-20 for a small bottle of steam cleaner solution at Target and Walmart. That stuff is stupidly overpriced!!!! We only have one small room in our house that has carpeting (my office) and I recently started using this solution in my Bissell steam cleaner and I think that it actually works BETTER than the expensive store bought stuff!
Make sure to always go back over your carpet with clean water after cleaning to rinse some of the soap. The soap will leaves s residue that will cause it to get dirty faster. Love the recipe
It amazes me how many folks dont know this💚 it helps tons. I find whenever i move into a new place i shampoo the carpet with just super hot water. All the soap was left by previous renter lol
Wow my ex husband cleaned carpets for living and he would spend thousands for company and so I changed it up after we divorced yes this does work!!! I used it for several years!! Good stuff
@@legalfictionnaturalfact3969 wow. Nice. Encouraging her to destroy her ex financially. I am so thankful marriage rates are on the decline as more men are waking up to how most women truly think.
@@one7decimal2eight Oy!!! I divorced my ex husband and I refused to go after him fir alimony. I also had no desire to ‘destroy’ him- I wanted a fair split. If anything, he was a complete ass wipe schmuck!!
I haven’t tried it yet but you need to tell us the measurements are those teaspoons tablespoons I can’t tell that’s the only thing that’s missing from your video
I'm using this minus the fabric softener - it works great! I'd also suggest putting in a teaspoon of salt in the dirty water tank (not the fresh solution tank) every time you empty the tank as a de-foaming agent - another low cost alternative to store-bought defoamer. Especially if you use a heavier amount of the solution which I am because my carpet is way beyond due for cleaning - I find if it foams up it makes the auto shutoff in the dirty water tank close sooner. Dishwasher detergent - as in detergent for a dishwasher - is also supposed to work though haven't tried that yet. Also - instead of removing the top tank every time to fill it I just pour the water into it mounted in the machine using a large pitcher and a funnel.
NEXT TIME PLEASE SHOW US THE DIRTY WATER YOU POUR OUT FROM THE CLEANER YOU JUST USED...THIS GIVES US AN IDEA OF JUST HOW GREAT YOUR RECIPE IS BECAUSE YOUR RUG DIDNT LOOK DIRTY BUT IF YOU HAD SHOWN US WHAT THAT EXTRACTION WATER LOOKED LIKE AFTER USING YOUR HOME MADE DIY CARPET CLEANING CONCENTRATE RECIPE...AND IT WAS FILTHY EXTRACTION WATER YOU SHOWED US BY EMPTYING THAT DIRTY WATER ...THAT IMPACT WOULD HAVE TOLD US TO MAKE THIS RECIPE RIGHT NOW AND DONT BOTHER SEARCHING FOR ANY OTHER CHANNELS RECIPES WITH PROOF BECAUSE THIS LADY ALREADY SHOWED US ALL WE NEED TO KNOW!!!
I use just bar soap and water . 😂 it works amazing. Ever since I was a kid I saw my auntie washing her carpet that way and it always turned out amazing clean so that’s how I wash mine.
Use a fork and an emery coarse emery board using the fork slide fork tines underneath the nail polish stain...then using emery board buff out the dried nail polish if you can peel it off as much as you can BUT DO NOT USE ACETONE OR POLISH REMOVER...DO NOT BUFF OR USE ABRASIVE BRUSHING TO ENTIRE AREA PLEASE ONLY USE ON THE AREAS YOU HAVE LIFTED UP INTO THAT FORK THIS WILL PROTECT THE PILE AND ONLY ADDRESS THE STAIN. NOW, IF THE STAIN HAS BEEN PEELED OR BRUSHED AWAY STILL USING THE FORK YOU CAN EITHER USE A PAIR OF HAIR CLIPPERS WITH A CLIPPER GUARD MEASURING THE LENGTH OF YOUR RUG PILE SAY IF YOUR RUG DEPTH OF EACH STRAND OF PILE IS SHORT OR LONG 1/8TH OF AN INCH 5/8TH OF AN INCH OR 1/2 OR 1" DEEP ...USE THAT SAME CLIPPER GUIDE ATTACHED TO YOUR HAIR CLIPPERS ...IF U R NOT SURE START WITH LONGER GUARDS LIKE 1 " GUARD AND WORK YOUR WAY TO SHORTER CLIPPER CUTTING GUARD UNTIL YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE WHEN IT TRIMS OFF THE STAINED PORTION. IF U DONT HAVE CLIPPERS U CAN USE SCISSORS STILL USING THE FORK TO GENTLY LIFT AND GUIDE U TO ONLY TRIM THE VERY TOP PORTION OF RUG.

Ok gonna try this right now, just a tip though I would add the oxy to the jug of lil bit of water and give it a nice swirl for a minute or 2 to help break down the crystals. Worked great on my high traffic carpet and rugs. Thank you
Honestly, this formula works just as well if not even a little bit better than the carpet cleaning solutions that you would pay $15-20 for in the store for a small bottle. We only have one small room with carpet in our house (the rest is all hardwood and tile), which is my office. It's a light colored Berber type carpet and I use this solution about once every 6-8 weeks to clean it with our Bissell steam cleaner. We have four Golden Retrievers who spend a lot of time in my office, so it needs to be clearly fairly regularly.
Made this a few days ago but just used it and I have to say, 🗣 this video is heaven sent!! I probably used more awesome than she did cause I didn’t want to measure it our because of the strong smell but Holy Moly, this stuff works better than the store bought solution. I can’t afford to buy 3 bottles of solution just to get half of my living room done so this is perfect.
OMG Karrie!!!! Thank you so much, this was a TRUE gift. I used this solution in the Bissell Big Green and my carpets never look better. I will have to say I change it up a bit, used two scoops of Oxy and just a tad more of the Awesome cleaner.
Feel like there should be a warning in here; people don’t just mix any cleaners together incidents have happened. Sure this is safe but don’t go an try making your own cleaner throwing different things together.
I use this n it makes them look brand new Deep Clean Carpet Cleaner. This deep cleaner can be used in your rug-cleaning machine. It is made of ¾ cup of hydrogen peroxide, ¼ cup white vinegar, 2 tablespoons dish soap, 5 drops of essential oils, 2 tablespoons of fabric softener, and one gallon of hot water.
It's not the softer that's bad for the machines. It's the amount of detergent, even if used as directed, that is more than what's really needed and clogged up the machine over time. Every homemade recipe foe carpet cleaning includes softer, otherwise the carpet dries rough and stiff.
I was looking for some thing all natural as opposed to the poisons that they’re selling and then I saw the poisons on your counter and I was immediately disappointed.
same. My initial reaction was I would never let my child sit on rug again with all of those chemicals in rug. I have watched alot of video and only natural way is to just use hot water. I will test it shortly.
@@k5camille982 when she was mixing the ingredients she said use a spoon however when she began measuring the ingredients out, she clearly used different size measuring utensils. She probably did listen but she never stated how much.
@@k5camille982 2 tbsp of tide, 1/4 cup of Awesome, 1 scoop or 3 tspn of Oxy, and 1 tspn of fabric softener. Found the exact measurements at the end of her long blog.
Hi, great information! As far as the measurements of the liquids you put in, how much to put in? I see you using different measuring spoons but not sure how much was used. Please advise. Thank you so much.

I couldn’t find the totally Awesome cleaner so I used my Lemi shine everyday degreasing cleaner. Also, my icy clean scoop is way more than 3 tablespoons, so measure your oxy by the tablespoon to be accurate
I used this mixture on my carpet and pre-treated the high traffic areas a day before and it worked AMAZING! Everything came up! I tried the same solution in the backseat of my car with a bowl of water and a microfiber towel to retreat the stains and give it a good clean. So far so good! I will need to go back and give it a deep clean with my carpet cleaner, but I am liking the current results. I have already told a few friends about this recipe!
I love this recipe! I had no idea that you could make carpet cleaner. I spent so much money last time I cleaned my carpets so I am looking forward to making this and saving money! Great video!
Tide laundry detergent 2 tbsp Oxiclean. 1 scoop. That comes with it Awesome cleaner. 1/4 cup Fabric soft 1tbsp. Hot water 1 gallon Mix it well and add this solution to 1 gallons of water ( solution it ready fill it up in a big bottle) and when you are cleaning your carpet
I like this formula better. Much less soap and removes stains alot better. Deep Clean Carpet Cleaner.
Hey I just wanted to let you know you can get your oxy clean it's called Sodium Percarbonate it is 99.9% oxygen bleach and oxy clean sold in the store or generic versions are only16-19% of the active ingredient and then filler. I don't use any scented soap I uses hot water and sodium percarbonate and a bit of natural dish soap or home made laundry detergent or castile soap.
Gday folks, I personally go with Baking soda , tiny amount of Tide , and a scoop of Oxi powder with water . Mix well , Then i use a diluted cleaning vinegar solution to rinse .
I will be using a drill machine with a brush attached to it, iron, those 1-2 gallon vacuum to suck up water and the chemical either bought or home made, it’ll make it close to new. $30 for drill, brush attachment $6, iron $16 mix with all this will remove extreme stains, 1-2 Gallon vacuum $60-80 is enough, might get the solution from video or spend $21 from bissel - much cheaper than buying a vacuum like that for about $120 and above. I spend that for everything I stated puuuurty much Some of this stuff can be outsourced off of face book market if you want used, like iron , vacuum, drill - I like mine new even if it’s cheap. My method might take time, I work from home so I can do it bit by bit
Thanks Karrie, I like the machine that you were using in your video, - what make and model is it. Instead of renting a rug doctor everytime we need one, it will probably pay to just buy a good carpet cleaner.
It is so nice to have your own carpet shampooer for sure! The one I have is a Bissell Pet ProHeat 2X (here is my affiliate link to it on amazon: amzn.to/3b6XYHQ ) I like it - my only wish is that it would suck up the water a little bit better. I like my carpets to feel really dry after shampooing. This one does an okay job but I'm sure if I spent more money I could get a more pro machine that would work even better.
I just tried your homemade carpet cleaning solution 'recipe'. I'm totally in love with this stuff. Thank you so much for sharing this amazingly awesome, money saving gem!!!
For me I like this better Deep Clean Carpet Cleaner.
Does anyone know of an equivalent to LA's Totally Awesome cleaner? I see in Dollar Tree store it costs $1.25 a bottle, here in UK it costs £9 ($11) a bottle, not cheap! Does anyone know the name of the catchy background track? I enjoyed your video Karrie and am about to make up your solution with UK equivalents.
Your voice sounds just like Sara Rae Vargas but I just got a carpet cleaner tonight and this is amazing I already spent like $20 on cleaning solution that I think I’m going to return and take that money and go to the dollar store and get these ingredients
I don't know why vacuum manufacturers attach the cord at the bottom of the unit. It's amazing if they haven't been sued. Try looping the cord through the handle or attaching it with a zip tie. It's much easier to work with that way.
The bottoms will be really clean. Unless she is running outside in the mud then back to the carpet, keeping the surface around the carpet swept is sufficient.
When I search the cleaning machine at Amazon, it sold out, do you do which store can I get that cleaning machine?? My carpet smells really bad now I need to clean it
You can, just don’t allow the remover to get to the bottom of the rug because it will remove any glue holding the rug together, then you have a big mess.
K, so I looked for the ingredients on the back of a dozen carpet cleaners. Zero information. Instead of paying $20.00 for whatever was or wasn't in there, I filled my Bissell container with 1/2 peroxide and 1/2 water and 2T. baking soda. Beautiful results on my light beige carpet. Cost less than 25 cents. Took about 1 second to prepare. No rinse. A week later, still looks perfect. BTW, my carpet is almost 20 years old!
I tried this today and OMG 😱 It worked so good! I skipped the softener to prevent build up and it still smelled good. It wasn’t sudsy and lifted up so much dust and dirt. We don’t wear shoes in our house yet it still picked up so much! Thanks for this!
Its a great video but there is one problem you didn't explain how much of the ingredients needed for the solution e.g 1 tablespoon of xyz or equivalent =4 desert spoon if you mention cup how about fluid ounces and millilitres etc as not every one is in the USA and there are different measurements in different countries so if you use millilitres and fluid ounces its pretty much universal hope this helps to update your video and website
I've been using this solution for a couple years now. I have two young kids, and two dogs. This is a lifesaver! Cleans better and lasts longer than store bought! Also, it smells great!
I am concerned with putting oxy down in rugs. The vacuum can only remove some of that. I have 5 year old and as with most kids...loves sitting/kneeling on carpet. I might just go at it with hot water.
I just spent $18 for shampoo at Lowe’s. What a joke. I’m going to try your recipe when I run out of it. Is that LA stuff a degreaser? Thanks so much for your video.
Deep Clean Carpet Cleaner.
The wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord 🙏 Romans 6:23 You have sinned against God by breaking his laws and commands and a just God will demand a punishment for evil but because he is rich in mercies and full of grace he has offered you a chance out of eternal damnation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ the lamb who was slain to cover the sin of the world , repent and turn from your sins and realize your transgressions go to Jesus and beg for his forgiveness he will not turn you away
