I'm a die-hard, born again christian now. Been one for about 25 years now. I'll be 45 in April. But I wasn't raised a christian and had a weird upbringing. Couldn't tell you who got what from the dinner table because we only ate microwaved food on tv trays. I'm a big believer in Christ now, lookin to start a family with my wife now (better late than never) and I plan on us eating at the dinner table with the Cowboy's recipes and praising God for every bite! Absolutely love the show! God bless brother! You bring a lot of joy to me and I try to share it whenever and however I can!

You are such a sweetheart and amazing cook, but it tugs at my heart when you salute the veterans. My late husband died in 2016 as a result of his service in VIET NAM. When he came home in 1969 veterans were not shown the respect WWII, Desert Storm & Afghanistan & Iraq war vets received. VN vets were ostracized. So thank you for including all vets in your tribute at the end of your videos.

Hi from Brussels (Belgium Europe), Kent you are a master. You look cool and effortless...but , as a trainee cooker, I can see that you are a professional cook. Really. And you cook not in a professional kitchen! Your tip and tricks are scientifically right. Look how he fries first the vegetables, next the mushrooms (gives water) next the garlic, and how he manages to cook the outer crust of the pie! Respect. Folks, please respect and follow the recipes as he explains,Kent really knows the world of cooking (when to "singer" (technical french term for adding flower), when to first cook the meat and (!) use the grease that comes from lard or whatever to cook other ingredients (vegetables, meant). I have even tried is Cowboy coffee method, even if here we say "Boiled coffee, spoiled coffee"... and it works! Great coffee, smooth and tasty (OK here I double the amount of coffee). Congratulations and thanks for your channel. Kind regards Pedro (Brussels).

I was taught to cut up chicken what my dad called restaurant style in the mid sixties. We had a small grocery store in the Missouri Ozarks. The chicken ended up 2 legs, 2 thighs, 2 wings, 2 back pieces the tail and the neck side, 2 breast pieces and then the pulley bone part of the breast. Hadn’t heard that in years it was always my favorite part. Kent you were talking about cross contamination the food police would have had a heart attack back then. We cut everything pork, beef, chicken and venison during deer season on the same big wood butcher block. Just scraped it down in between and continued on. Each night it was covered with salt and scraped down again the next day before starting again. How things have changed. Haven’t heard of canned chicken either in years but remember mom and dad having Swanson can whole chicken on the shelf to sell. You said in the beginning about Marie Calanders (sp) in the beginning don’t remember those but definitely remember Banquet pot pies. Moms didn’t have a recipe for pot pie it was whatever was in the icebox and most of the time just had canned biscuits on top. That looks so fantastic to this old country boy. Tell Shan it’s never to much butter lol.

The salt rub down to kill bacteria makes perfect sense. I would worry less about the wooden cutting board Kent was using and more about the paper towels, oil, and dry rub he grabbed right after flattening that bird.

My Mom made homemade chicken pot pie from scratch at least once every couple months. She taught me how to cook just about everything I know how to cook today, but never could get her pot pie recipe down. My mom had only cast iron skillets. Most of her pots and pans were stainless steel but not her skillets. When I was young you could only buy whole chicken and she bought the biggest available cause she was feeding a family of six (4 growing boys). She didn't cut it up the way chicken is cut up these days. Pieces were mostly separated at the joints. I still eat fried gizzards and livers to this day.

Great video. I love chicken pot pie, but the wife is allergic to peas, so I can always count on Kent's recipes to cut those out.

Now that is a chicken pot pie i am proud to say that my grandma would make. It is not some pre-made, prepackaged, full of additives, fillers, and preservatives. This is like all of your recipes: good hearty and filling food I would be proud to serve my family. You can also use this recipe as a template for others by substituting the chicken with leftover turkey, shredded beef or pork. My grandma would make a standing pie crust sometimes, but most of the time she would use her dutch oven and make it in the oven. This brings back happy memories and I am gonna make this for my family this weekend. Thank you for another fantastic video. God bless you all and may this happy new year bring you continued health, wealth, and joy!

I cracked up when you mentioned the “pulley bone” my family is from southeast Colorado and that is what we called the wishbone also!

Growing up, almost every Sunday dinner was a fried chicken from the yard. The Pulley Bone was my dedicated piece that I guarded like gold!

Oh, the pulley bone!! My Cajun grandmother had chickens. When she cooked one, I as the baby of her 33 grandchildren, ALWAYS got it!! You just opened up a whole lot of precious memories with that!

This man is truly a cowboy. Ya gotta love it. God bless ya'll Kent your family and the pups. Love the show. I gotta get me a Dutch oven like him. Gonna give the sparkling taters a try, with crab and or lobster. Can't wait. Thank you to Mr Rollins for all the knowledge. I learn more and more every time I watch. Spent my whole life wanting to know what it would be like to go on a cattle drive.

The pulley bone is the top part of the chicken breast. It's like the tenderloin of the chicken. My grandmother used to use that term when we used to go over to her house in Dallas by gum Texas.

Growing up my Grandmother would cook Sunday dinner, your right, usually Fried Chicken but plenty of times I remember a good pot roast and mash taters. She might even throw us a curve ball and make up a lasagna! She was pretty versatile when it came to cooking.

I always thought my mom mostly fried everything until I got to thinking on it and remembered so many meals that were not fried. So my thinking now is that I just loved her fried meals more than any other. Especially her fried potatoes with onions.

Frozen food section pot pies are the reason I hate them. Homemade pot pies are the reason I'm more willing to give it a chance.
