Now thats the way its done, that test stand is perfect, the engine w/headers with the exhaust turned away from you, the guages, the switches and the throttle lever integrated into a the panel along with the battery and gas can in the stand as well at your feet. This is exactly how i would build mine if i had the need...

You got more money in just the stand than I have in my entire 1998 Mustang It is very nice!

John Broughton Thanks for saying, John. There's really not that much money there...most of the parts were leftovers from projects that I've done over the years. The rest came from Craigslist or Ebay or I built myself (the dashboard, for example, was built from scrap metal and used switches). Anyway, thanks for the comment.

Very Nice Stand, I'm impressed. I love your throttle setup! I have my own 327 to build, Small Journal out of an old Vette. I had the year written down somewhere but I've done forgot. I'm thinking '63 or '64... don't quote me I may be wrong Can't wait to hear mine rumble and roar like that! ..... If only I had that stand Haha

Also Note: The skulls on the radiator support are gearshift knobs from ebay. They make nice handles for moving the stand around.

I'm wondering if you can make a tutorial of how you built it I know the basics of the wiring everything together but I'm not sure if it'd turn out good lol

Nice stand. Where did you get the vertical supports that are tied to the motor mounts?
@1MomentaryPaws
@1MomentaryPaws 8 лет назад
The supports are made from mild steel tubing and rod ends, all available from ebay for not too much money...they are adjustable (to a point) and super easy to build. Thanks for your comment/question.

Hey, Do you have any more info on the turnbuckles you used? What was their rating, how were they mounted? I'm thinking of building my own on my channel and I like the idea of the turnbuckles for ease of adjustability.
@1MomentaryPaws
@1MomentaryPaws 3 года назад
I used something like this, plug welded into mild steel tubing. www.ebay.com/itm/283299029049?hash=item41f5f02039:g:tqQAAOSwxaNd6eII
@VicsGarage71
@VicsGarage71 3 года назад
@@1MomentaryPaws so they're pluged welded on both side with a bolt through them so they can move latterly and I'm assuming can be threaded up and down to adjust length?
@1MomentaryPaws
@1MomentaryPaws 3 года назад
@@VicsGarage71 There's really no lateral movement front to back, as I used spacers to center the rod end in the motor mount. The engine cannot move left to right either, as the exhaust is attached to the radiator support up front...it acts as a kind of third motor mount and is the secret to keeping this whole rig as stable as it is (but remember it's a secret, so don't tell anyone ;-) As far as adjusting length, there really isn't much adjustment using these parts, maybe a couple inches. I made this stand specifically for V8 Chevy engines, so there is not a lot of adjustment required after the initial set up, even when changing engines. If you are building a stand to run different makes of engines, you're going to need something more adjustable than what I've got.

Where did you get the fuel cell? I'm in the process of building one of these and all of the nicer cells like the one you are using are quite expensive.
