I just made this fish cake. I followed exactly as the recipes and procedures and fried a small portion of the fish cake texture. Boy, after tasting one and it was so tasty and I just kept on eating the cooked batch one after another. I finished in no time because it texture was so just right and tasty. I would do it again and make it for my daughter in law. I am sure those who tried the recipe would say the same . Thank you Maangchi !😃

Cindy Strohecker How about using a mortar and pestle? First, mince the seafood finely and put the mixture into a mortar. Pound it with a pestle until it turns creamy.
+Maangchi I just came across ur channel.. immediately subscribed !!!! these look very tasty.. I'll try them asap. u seem like a very nice person too.. looking forward to watching the rest of your videos..

in the video you use any purpose flour and potato flour. can i use tapioca flour (many people usually call it sago) and corn flour? is it much better when we use any flour than sago in it?
Yea... I would just say the same thing... In my country, we have pempek made from fish and flour too... But the price is expensive... I am curious of how fish cake become one of cheap street food in Korean...
@@gameisfun9391 Waste not, want not. There's so much bycatch fish that we just waste, killing fish for no reason and dumping them depleting the oceans. Might as well use them and not waste.
When I went to Seoul, I ate at high end food court that served freshly made gourmet fish cake that had many variety of fish and vegetables. It was extraordinarily delicious. Gonna tried to make it using this recipe but also put some vegetables chopped hot pepper, sesame seed leaves etc. Thanks Maangchi! Luv ya
Love this. Thank you. I don’t buy this anymore because I don’t like all the processed ingredients. Now I know how to make it. I agree, homemade is best. Thank you! 🙏
"If you don't like the ketchup, forget about ketchup. Just eat it." Lol! Omgosh, you are so cute! This recipe looks delicious. I'm going to have to make this. I think it would taste great thinly sliced and wrapped in spring rolls. Yum!
I was thinking a long time ago about where can I buy fish cake and seeing thing. Wow I can just make one for my family! This will be my next to do recipe. Thank you Maangchi for sharing your recipe! We love you!

Việt Nam mình không có cá tuyết. Mình ở SG không tìm thấy, bạn có thể thay bằng cá basa hoặc cá thác lác. Nhớ là lấy thịt thật kỹ không là sẽ dính xương nhé.
Great recipe! Tastiest fish sticks I've ever had! I also used an 18" piping bag and 789 (wilton or ateco) tip, and made wide, flat strips. Actually worked pretty well! I'm going to use them for tteokbokki and eomuk bokkeum.
In the Philippines, we have these as fishballs ( because they're shaped like balls ) . I always ate these stuff after dismissal, they always wait for us outside the school. This is just in a different shape but when I watched the vid I slowly realized 'oh, these are fishballs' . Anyway, thank you maangchi! ^^
I just made this recipe today. Knowing that I would not be disappointed with your recipe, I made a double batch of it! It is delicious!!! I am gluten intolerant so I cannot eat the fish cakes that are sold in the stores but by making your recipe and substituting the flour with gluten free flour I am able to eat and enjoy fish cake again! I am excited because now I can make 😮tteokbokki with fish cake again! Thank you for this delicious recipe.
+Lia Oke yes! I flew in to Jakarta and stayed in Bandung. That's where my husbands family lives. We traveled to Bali, and while in Bali we also went to gili trawangan. It was gorgeous. :) we even went to Singapore. Haha

THIS IS AWESOME when it was uploaded in 2014 and now in 2020! So true, if you want to find fish cake without preservatives or MSG or a million other additives in the store, forget about it. Maangchi is totally spot on, you can't find this kind of quality of fish cake anywhere. Thanks so much - it's just what our family is looking for.
I always wondered how fish cakes were made! What a neat way to use all those different sea creatures. I'm definitely trying this. No breading or flour or anything! That is great. Thanks Maangchi!

That seems healthy option for my kids snack which they are usually craving for chicken nugget or schnitzel. I'll make it this weekend.. Thanks maangchi
I made this fishcake and followed your cooking recipe. Turn out awesome. My husband who dislike eating fish or any kind of seafood end up eating my fishcake. 🤣🤣🤣 he loves it. Thank you.
I just made a batch of these and they are so good! I then tried them with ketchup like you did and even though it's a snowy day I now feel like it's Summer 🍤 Thank you for this recipe Maangchi 💕
You are sooooooooo adorable!! Thank you so much for sharing all these recipes! I am of Korean heritage, but never learned how to cook many of these dishes, so you have been such a HUGE blessing!! I never made kimchi before I learned from you! Now, I make it continually!!
Thank you so much! There is no Asian supermarket in my city and I have to drive over an hour to get things like this. Now I can make it myself! Thanks!
"Homemade food is the best!" You are right, Maangchi! I definitely agree with this. Thanks for sharing this recipe. I love the technique of rolling the fish cake on spatula using knife.
Maangchi, I have learned so, so much from you in the couple years I have been following you! Thank you for being such a wonderful teacher! I ran out of my frozen fishcakes and decided I will try to make yours today! I have a question for you. I believe in home remedies and find that traditional remedies passed down through families, sometimes is as good as medicine! Do you know of any Korean home remedy that helps with cancer, or building your immunity to fight cancer? I have been fighting bladder cancer over 2 years and it just keeps returning and I have been searching for natural or food based options to add to my diet/treatment. Thank you for all of your awesome video recipes! As long as you keep posting, I'll be here cooking with you,as long as I'm able! Much love 💕!
Thank you very much for your nice message and sharing your health issue. I wish for your speedy recovery! I don't have any special home remedy recipe for cancer but I would like to suggest you make green smoothie. When you feel nausea, ginger tea will help you. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hC3TPFjyAIw.html Love you!!
Hi Janice, I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice but I have a comment about cancer. The best way to clear up cancer and make sure it never comes back is to fast. If a person were to commit to a 30 day water fast (length of time depends on severity of cancer and current health such as weight) (water only) here is what would happen: after day 3 or 4 of fasting the body would go into an autopilot mode and it would begin to consume what is inside the body for energy. It would first start by consuming toxins, dead cells, diseased cells such as carcinogenic cells and carcinogens. The body would quite literally consume the cancer and convert the cancerous cells into food. During the water fast only one thing should be consumed - a mineral water. To prepare: In 2L of alkaline water a 1tsp of Potassium Chloride (No Salt brand is good), 1/2tsp of Sodium Chloride (Himalayan Salt), 1tsp Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda, a good, clean and pure brand), and 1/2tsp Magnesium Sulfate (digestible Epsom Salt, 365 Brand at Whole Foods is good) should be added. The ingredients should be mixed in water and be consumed as much as possible per day - even more than 2L if possible. This drink helps maintain energy, eliminate fatigue and speed up detox while replenishing the body with over 85 minerals, potassium and magnesium. During this water fast no food items can be consumed. Not even a piece of fruit or a jelly bean. Nothing. No teas or juices (tea will deplete you of necessary minerals such as iron). The body has to be given the opportunity to eat away the toxins and all the cancer cells. If cancer medication or other medication is used, contacting a holistic cancer clinic where fasting is used as a form of healing to understand how to either continue medicines or eliminate them is recommended. Many cancer medicines and other medicines are highly acidic, foster an environment in which cancers actually thrive, and can affect the fasting process so a doctor experienced in fasting for cancer healing should be asked for proper advice. I know many people who have healed different cancers this way. After 30 days (or however many days the fast is initially done for) a doctor’s visit is suggested to run tests and see how the body is doing. If there are still traces of cancer, continuing for some additional time with this method will allow the body to consume the cancer entirely. After the 30 days, reintroducing food in form of a ketogenic diet, starting with bone broths, building up to solid foods free of carbohydrates (no more than 25g of carb in form of cruciferous vegetables, asparagus and some berries) and high in healthy fats from good quality meats such as fatty sections of organic beef and pork such as pork belly and other fatty sections, high quality butters (if the stomach acids are at healthy levels, enabling proper digestion) will restore the body and maintain an acid free environment in which cancers cannot thrive, and it will weaponize the immune system even more, which helps maintain health. Alpha Lipoic Acid (600mg and also found in asparagus) and CoQ10 300-400mg) can be added per day to boost mitochondria in major organs, including kidneys and bladder, to keep them functioning optimally. This method of healing cancer is very common in many European countries and it is used here in the US in a lot of holistic cancer clinics. While fasting, learning a lot about a proper ketogenic diet is highly recommended to prepare for after the fast is over. Stephanie Person (has a YT channel) has a wealth of information about proper keto process and foods, she can help the learning experience. Connecting with a holistic doctor who specializes in fasting for cancer and other disease healing is highly recommended for more thorough advice and treatment plan specific to ones needs and cancer types. Best of luck to you in whatever you choose and I pray your cancer leaves you the F alone! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Janice. I have a natural drink recipe to imboost our immune system that I got from a natural based doctor. It's not a korean home remedies though. Ingredients you need are : Ginger (size of a thumb), turmeric (size of a pinky), 1 lemongrass, curcuma (size 1/2 thumb), kaempferia galanga/sand ginger (size 1/2 pinky), cinnamon (size 3/4 pinky) bring it to a simmer with 300 ml of water. Drink it with honey and a little lime when it's warm. I hope it helps. I wish you a speedy recovery..
@@Adnezal Thank you for taking such time for that reply. I have actually been looking at fasting, my lab work keeps coming back that certain levels are showing malnutrition probably because I don't eat much and healthy fresh veg, etc is pricey. And with copays and treatment travel, that itself eats up what funds I do have, so fasting was an idea. I am going to speak to my physician about the benefits and how to properly do it to see if it is an option for me. Thank you!
@@ryssed1867 I actually tried a regimen similar to that, it was a Haitian cancer remedy using aloe, ginger, pineapple and a few other things, I committed to it but alas, I had several re-occurrences after. I cannot seem to find some of your ingredients here in the US or I would try it, I'm pretty open to options. Thank you so much though!
