Homemade earth drill
I decided to make for myself a manual earthen drill or as it is also called zaebur.
It is necessary for digging deep round holes of the correct form in the ground. To dig such holes with a shovel will not work. Pits such dig under the posts for the fences, under the seedlings, and I need it for digging holes under the columnar foundation.
I will do what I find, that is, from the stuff I have.
For the manufacture of the rod and handle, I'll take this rebar. For the drill itself, I found this metal disc. With a diameter of 23 cm and a metal thickness of 3 mm.
I otkapayu fittings and clean the disc from rust. For cleaning I use a grinder with a stripping wheel.
Also, clean from rust and rebar.
So, the materials are prepared. I have a metal circle and fittings. Armature 2 meters long. I do not need a too long drill. I need holes about 1 meter deep.
Therefore, I will cut off 40 centimeters on the handle, and I will leave 1 meter 60 centimeters on the probe.
It turns out that with the help of such a drill, I can dig holes up to 1 meter deep 50 cm. There is more than enough stock.
Cut off from the valve 40 centimeters on the handle. It goes without saying that the wider the knob is, the easier it will be to turn the drill during operation, but since I have to drill holes in the ground near the wall, I will not make very wide knobs. With this length of the handle, I can drill a hole 20 centimeters from the wall. It suits me completely.
On one side of the pin I will make a selection under the handle, as the fittings are round. This sample will then help more carefully weld the handle.
That turned out to be a sample in the fitting under the handle.
Moving on to the next stage.
On this disk, I need to find the center to make a hole for the pin. Greater accuracy is not needed, so it will be enough to draw a few lines, approximately along the centers and the intersections of these lines will show me the center.
Here is a cent. I outlined it with a drill.
The diameter of the reinforcement I have 24 mm. With the help of compasses draw the contour of the future hole.
The pencil is poorly visible, so I traced the outline with a marker.
Now I need to make a hole in this disk along this contour.
To do this, I will drill a hole near the contour line, and then use a welding machine to cut this hole.
The hole is cut, and the stock enters it normally. Welding welds will remove with the help of grinders.
In the next step, I will make one slot from the cent of the disk.
Now I need to straighten this disc along the slot in different directions. I need to get a gap between the two planes of the disk about 3 centimeters. As a piece I will take a bar with a thickness of 3 centimeters.
Armed with a hammer, bar and Russian obscenities, I proceed to this creative work.
Here's what I got. There are about 3 centimeters. And so the disk will be installed on the pin and welded.
There is one important point. When installing the disk on the pin, it is necessary that between the lower cutting edge of the disk and the pin was an angle of 90 degrees. And what is the angle between the pin and the top of the disk - it does not matter.
I will weld a metal triangle as a guide drill on the lower part of the pedestal stock. Therefore, I will pre-make at the end of the slot for this triangle.
This is the cut I made under the metal triangle.
I start to weld the disk on the pin. I expose with the help of a square an angle of 90 degrees between the cutting edge of the disk and the pin and weld the disk to the pin in a circle on both sides.
That's what I have. I'm not a welder, so as it turned out - it happened.
Here is a metal triangle that will act as a guide peak at the end of the drill. I insert it into the prepared slot and weld it too.
This is the peak at the end of the drill. To bore into the ground, I need to turn it clockwise. I also took into account this moment when I spread the disc in different directions along the slot. But to whom it is convenient. If you dilute the sides of the disk on the contrary, then the disk will be dig counterclockwise.
I have such an unnecessary hatchet and hard steel. I cut a strip out of it and weld it onto the cutting edge of the drill. The drill then will be less stupid and better bite into the ground.
