Funny story here: I got out all the ingredients to make the hot pockets. I had just stocked the cupboards and fridge and I was ready to go! Made the filling, instead of onion powder and garlic powder I use onion and garlic. Got the chicken cooked and dropped in the cream cheese and dashed to the garden for some chives. Everything was ready to go-until-I went to the fridge and discovered I bought cinnamon rolls instead of crescent rolls. I pondered for a moment and thought about pasta that you had mentioned and then it hit me, I had puff pastry in the freezer. Can I tell you that this went from a disaster to magnificent meal!! Brushed the tops with egg wash and the parm cheese! My family thinks I am a genius, hhahaha!!! Thanks for sharing Becky!

I miss these kinds of classes. We had both family studies and design and technology in middle school that were mandatory. I remember in design and technology we did woodworking all 3 years, electricity, plumbing, metal work which both my sister and I made cookie sheets in the early mid 90s which my mum still has incredibly stained and etched from decades of cookies. Famimy studies we learned basic sewing, cooking, baking, parenting and nutrition. High school we had both just for grade 9 but family studies was then called parenting and was mostly book work from what I remember. Now I have 1 son who is graduating high school this spring and they've brought back a couple food courses thankfully. My 9th grader knows how to cook basic meals and grill under supervision, he just doesn't have enough confidence in himself yet. The younger kids are in grade 7 and totally a disaster in the kitchen on a good day 😂

I always chop up the extra parsley, for example, as you only ever need two tablespoons for a recipe and then the rest of the bunch of parsley can be completely redundant, and put it in ice cube trays with a dash of water (run on sentence or what?). Then I can pop the cube in stews or soups. I also do this with tomato paste. Again, most recipes require two tablespoons. So I measure out the two tablespoons, place them in ice cube trays and, once frozen, put them in freezer bags for future use. At which point I feel completely virtuous! Thanks again, Becky for one of your most enjoyable videos. I will definitely try the ginger shot!

I have been making ginger/turmeric/ lemon shots for a couple years now for me and husband and we LOVE them. We do add black pepper but just before we take the shot. They really do give you a boost of energy and kinda clear your mind (sounds crazy but they really do). I started making them with my Vitamix like you did here and quickly moved into an inexpensive juicer that I have been using now for 2 years and is still holding strong. I only pain $50 for it on Amazon. We sometimes get out of the habit of taking them ( that is where I am now) and this is a good reminder to start again so thank you :) They are in my freezer I just need to thaw.

I do something similar with lemon, ginger in honey. Lasts a long time in the fridge. Use the entire lemon; seeds pith and all. All the quercetin is in the pith and seed. So I chop the entire lemon, chop a bunch of ginger, put in jar and cover with honey. Leave out on counter for two to three days then keep in the fridge. The honey thins out with the juices. Just take a table spoon full when dealing with cough, sore throat or the threat of exposure from someone else. So good!

We have a ginger raised bed. Whenever I need a piece of ginger, I dig down, snip off a piece, and put back in soil. It stays beautifully in the soil. It sprouts in the spring. We snip off some of the sprouts,to chop and ad to dishes. It has multiplied greatly, over the years. It just keeps on spreading. All I did in the beginning , years ago, was purchase a piece of organic ginger, from the grocery store, and dug it down in soil, laid it flat and covered it. It’s just wonderful, knowing I have ginger, whenever we need it.

so looked for how to make shots and I found this as add on to help with more Ingredients And Substitutions: Oranges - oranges add sweetness and help balance the spiciness of the ginger. Any variety of orange works well in this recipe. I usually use an heirloom navel orange (when I can find them) or cara cara orange since these tend to be sweeter. Lemons - add brightness. You can also use limes! Ginger - fresh ginger adds mega health benefits. No need to peel it! Turmeric - fresh turmeric adds even more health benefits. No need to peel it! Black pepper - helps to activate the turmerics' health benefits. We only need a pinch, so you won't even taste it. Water - helps the blender get moving. You may need more or less depending on your blender. If you are using a juicer, omit it.

Icydk, you can blend whole lemons in the Vitamix, and every part of it is nutritious. I quarter a well scrubbed whole lemon for my green smoothies, and toss it, seeds and all, into my blender. It's delicious. Also, I don't even bother to peel ginger anymore unless I'm cooking with largish chunks of it, and then I only do it for texture reasons. Peeling it doesn't change the flavor at all, so you could dehydrate or freeze dry the pulp either way.

Last few years i have had daily organic ginger, lemon and tumeric shots. I juice the organic ginger and lemon, it is not easy to get fresh organic tumeric where i am so i buy either a high quality turmeric capsule (decanted into the shot) or liquid drops - these both come with the added pepper (plus a lot more nutrients (volume wise), I also add cayenne pepper & organic Ceylon cinnamon for additional health benefits. I dont add any extra water, so i store the mini jam jars (45ML). Spicy!

Becky please try to use your zested upside down, which is actually the correct way to zest as your moving the tool on the fruit instead of using your hand. I just want you know that you do you, but give it a shot lol . I love your videos ☮️💟

Hi Becky, I make something similar to your ginger shots. It’s called Jamu juice , with ginger, turmeric, lemon , a whole pineapple and a bit of honey. I found the recipe on Apron Strings . My husband and I drink a shot of this every day. We are in our seventies and so far drinking this for over a year, haven’t had a cold or been sick. I just keep it in the fridge and when it’s gone , make more. Thank you for all your hard work. You are such an inspiration to all the young , and old people I may add. Love you !

I've been making the ginger & lemon shots regularly, always have a batch on the go and stocked up in the freezer in the 4oz jars. I buy a kilo of organic ginger and freeze it in portions enough to make a batch. I add manuka honey to mine, it's such a refreshing drink. Thank you so much for this gem Becky!

I have ginger and tumeric growing in fabric pots. They did pretty good last year and I brought them in over the winter and let them die back. I've moved them outside and am now waiting on the green leaves to grow again. I've dug up a small piece of the ginger to check it out and it's rooted and looks (and tastes) amazing! Lots of new tubers and roots and now...bring on the shoots! I'll likely harvest some this fall, once the leaves die back again and bring the rest inside for winter (Zone 7b) and also get them both in larger pots for an even bigger harvest. It's my understanding that if you're patient and allow the tubers to mature, the more tubers you'll get! Sorta like asparagus...but not cold hardy.

Hi Becky this is Sue, l like making Ginger juice up as well, l do mine in a food processor and then squeeze all the juice out and freeze pulp for soups,or such, and hoo, l put all the juice in a quart jar and every morning (you have to shake the jar cause the ginger settles,) then add some fresh lemon juice and alittle raw honey, then measure out 2 oz and put it into a 32 oz glass of water and drink that, it is so yummy. just another way to use it,

I used to make a very similar dish years ago. Loved it! It called for 3 oz. softened cream cheese and 2 T. softened butter, mixed; 2 c. cooked, cubed chicken; 1/4 t. salt;1/8 t. pepper; 2 T. milk; 1 T. chopped pimento for the filling for 8 oz. crescent rolls tube. Then brush the top of the stuffed pastry with 1 T. melted butter and dip the pastry top into plate of 3/4 c. crushed, seasoned croutons. I loved the optional sauce poured over the top of 1 can cream of mushroom soup and 1/2 to 1 c. milk mixed and heated. YUM!

Never heard of these shots. Love ginger and turmeric. Fresh turmeric I can get in local Asian stores. The only negative with turmeric is that it stains. Ginger I keep in a glass jar in the refrigerator. Cut it in 1 inch or so pieces then fill the jar with sherry. Keeps forever. If I run low on ginger I add more. The sherry is a great replacement for Chinese wine required in Chinese marinates. Thank you will need to try this

I've made ginger turmeric shots before, but I added some lemons, oranges and chilli flakes. It was good for a week in the fridge and every morning me and my sister drank a shotglas of it. Very refreshing!

Hi Becky. Commercial Ginger and Tumeric is not pealed. The vitamins and minerals are all just under the skin, as with all vegetables. Just put the pulp into the freeze dryer and you will have exactly the same product as you would purchase. 👍😁

I’ve been drinking these (a recipe much like this) for 56 years. My moms friend gave me a shot every morning, The health benefits are amazing. I do suggest you don’t strain the drink. Your body needs the ruffage from the ingredients. My Moms friend was all natural. Everything she made came from her garden, chickens or the neighbors who raised goats and cows. She was amazing. Her only vise was Dr Pepper, lol. Thank you for sharing, it’s much like the recipe I use. P.S. a good quick bread to use instead of biscuit tubes is Greek yogurt bread. 2 ingredients and you’re good to go.

I dry my ginger after I make my ginger shots. It’s a little bit milder and flavor and makes a very delicious tea. I try it in the oven on low and it gives it a little bit of a rusty flavor more like a caramel he ginger tea

This has just inspired me to add a third step to my kefir making process. Step 1) Make ginger/lemon shots; Step 2) Use the pulp to flavour my kefir; Step 3) Keep that fermented pulp in the fridge -- when you have a cold, a spoonful of this in some hot water is an amazing home remedy. In the past I've blitzed the ginger/lemon after fementation, but I don't see why it wouldn't work just as well if it was blended before. Fingers crossed!
