This is the automatic hook setter I made for ice fishing. It was easy to make and works very well. This video also has the measurements so you can easily make your own.
Thank you! I made two of them in less than 15 minutes from materials I already had. Both work great after a little adjusting of the "eye trigger" bend angle to adjust trigger sensitivity. Tip - take the paint off the hanger on the trigger point for smoother action.
@@FerreraGlen will do I mostly tip up fish and made a couple homemade iFish pros which work really well but my buddy is going to Target some browns and the jackers seem to do better for trout
@@backcountryoutdoors. Nice! I'm in NE Pennsylvania and we have had a terrible season. I already put my ice stuff away and took the boat out on a lake today.
Yeah I have used it quite a bit and I've had a lot of hookups with it. I did change the angle and the length of the PVC rod holder a little bit so that the real is not sitting on the wood. By doing that I do have a more aggressive snap when the hook is set
I've had very few false sets with this. I've used small and medium shiners. If you use something really large that keeps setting it off, you can bend the part that goes through the top eye to make it less sensitive... I think.
It's been a long time and I don't exactly remember how I bent it. I can tell you that the end that the fishing line goes over is the exact shape of the hanger portion that goes into the cardboard tube of a hanger you would get from the dry cleaners.
Does it work, sure but nobody wants to lug that around and wood is the worst thing to use for the base but hey whatever you want to use and deal with is all good.
