You can use a sharpie marker on the turning tool’s cutting surface to see what you ground away. Coat it first then grind. Super easy to see, especially if you sharpen your tools a lot.
Cool idea...but as others have said..you can't reference the length of tool as an angle, when you keep shortening it...you'll end up with 90' then the tool won't reach an angle finder support is what you need, and i bet you could build one
I did the same jig for myself too. So thank you for sharing this nice vid but i have an important question. Is it any catch possibility at the thin blank line while sharpening chisels?
I have installed a three position switch on my lathe to change the turn when I need it. Check this out: www.paoson.com/blog/en/knife-sharpening-jig-n124/
If you have a normal grinder you can switch it around without fancy electric etc. like here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f2vvihhr238.html
@@TheoTHERON_SA I would set the chisel in position then hand turn the wheel and check the scratches and adjust until they are on the edge then sharpen.
You’re gonna have to change the marking for the chisel length after each sharpening no? Since the length of the chisel will change after each sharpening?
Hello Paoson, you still did very good work !! as usual, neat work - precisely ... I think that in a short time I will try to manufacture a metal lathe, because it is my professional training (mechanic mechanician of precision). So I'm going into this project with excitement ... thank you for your sharing and soon. Art3.
I love watching all of your videos. You have a very nice way of coming up with simple solutions and great skill in executing those designs. Thank you for sharing them.
Cool stuff my friend. I should build something similar myself. I got tired too of freehand sharpening on the grinder, pulled the trigger and purchase chinese copy of Tormek wet stone sharpener. Just waiting for tormek attachments to arrive. O well. Good luck buddy
I enjoy your logic and build abilities. Too many woodworkers just want to buy when the enjoyment is in the creation and doing it yourself. Thanks for ALL of your videos.
