Nice job. Now I just need drill press, table saw, table router, band saw, a cnc machine, a grinder with a cutting wheel...cheaper just to buy the damn thing.

Bellevue Woodshop Would you consider building one as a kit and selling it? You could ship just the end pieces and the end user could add the pole when they get it. I really like the one you made but don't have the tools or know-how to build one myself. I need one for a 20' x 40' in ground pool. It is a beautiful piece of work and I truly enjoyed watching you bring it to life!

mosconi0359 Thank you for watching and commenting. There are some great commercial ones available at a great price if you live in the US. Check amazon.com. They have with or without the pole. Without is 170usd. A complete reel here in Norway is approx 600usd

What a great job. One safety comment based on an accident that happened to me. At 7:03 you are holding the collar with your thumb while drilling . I did something similar and while drilling the bit broke in half and you guessed it , I drilled clear through my thumb. Glad it was a reversible drill motor. No more Harbor Freight bits for me..lol

Hei Helt genialt, vil prøve meg på denne her. Er det mulig og spørre om høyden og bredden på foten til rullen
@bellevuesnekkeri
@bellevuesnekkeri 8 лет назад

Wow, NICE project, but I am BLOWN AWAY by your view. I am a recent subscriber, so not sure where you are (region wise), but you have one amazing view from the pool! That view is worth a million bucks alone! One question about the build...how come the wheels come out so rough using the CNC machine? The outside looks like it does on the screen...a series of straight lines to make the curve...If that makes any sense to you? Thanks for sharing though. I am going to watch your other videos to get a glimpse of your view again from another angle!
@bellevuesnekkeri
@bellevuesnekkeri 10 лет назад
Thank you Sir. I am located in the southern part of Norway almost by the coast. We are happy with the view. That is one sharp eye you got there if I may say so. You are totally correct. The circle on the handwheel actually has 24 sides insted of beeing completely round. I cheated with the outside on the disc sander and made it smooth, and figured i would leave the inside to give me some more grip if needed. The reason for the jagged edge is that I drew this in Google Sketchup and exported it to a dxf file to import it into my cnc software, for the first time. I had already taped the video, and did not, at the time want to go back and reshoot it. I spent some time on google the day after,and forund that sketchup has a default value of 24 sides ehen drawing circles. This is not that visible on smaller circles, but when drawing something of this size (340mm dia) is becomes visible. the fix is o press the circle button, and before any other moves, type in a nuber of sides you want. i put in 300, and it turned out smooth. There could be an issue if you put in a to large number, but you will notice that it cannot make a surface then. i dont think I have any other videos shot outdoors. Shoot me an email at bellevuesnekkeri (at) gmail.com

I enjoyed watching your video! I am in the process of having to buy another solar reel and some how got directed to your video. What kind of rope did you use to pull the cover back on the pool? I usually have to pull the cover back on so it gets tedious to say the least. Thank you for a wonderful video!

Did you use steel or aluminum for the tube? I've been looking to source a 3" tube of aluminum for this project and it will cost me more than buying a reel system in its entirety.
@bellevuesnekkeri
@bellevuesnekkeri 6 лет назад
I used a 40mm stainless steel tube, salvaged from a stair railing build. An aluminum pipe would pobably need to be 3" as you say to be stiff enough

@bellevuesnekkeri
@bellevuesnekkeri 9 лет назад
