Whether you call these pop-tarts, turnovers, or hand pies, they are delicious and worth making! Also, using pre-made pie dough these become ridiculously easy to make!
Instructions:
Pie dough, rolled and cut into rectangles slightly bigger than regular pop-tarts. Use fork to poke small perforations in crust so pastry can vent as it bakes.
Place about a tablespoon of jam or preserves (I used blueberry preserves) to bottom rectangle, leaving a 1” border. Moisten border with a touch of water and place top rectangle over. Seal edges with fork tines.
Place on unbaked pastries on a parchment-covered baking sheet and bake at 400° till golden and puffed, about 15 minutes.
Optional but recommended: Glaze with a powder sugar glaze and top with sprinkles.
