Absolutely love this idea, I think I would change is to make it slightly wider and then mount some pre-bought steel rack railing in there so I can use conventual rack mount solutions.
lot of rack mount stuff uses m5 bolts for the cage nuts, so you can just as easily use the normal slide nuts for 2020 extrusion which also is conveniently usually m5 (with option of m6 many times as well since that the other common rack bolt size)
Cool project. Might want to invest in a few things: some dust collection (could be just a shop vac), and proper thread-cutting oil. This DIY stuff is always a learn-as-you-go. Cheers.
