I just found you the other day. You are better than ANY other on here that I've seen. You give info, you didn't ramble on. You tell the little pieces of info. You are great.
Yum, another time and money saver. What in the world is wrong with Knorr bullion? It's easy to store and economical. I use it too so let us know if you find something better. I would even gift some of these.
I just found her about a month ago, and I absolutely agree. I’ve already not only helped stock my pantry with her advice, I can also guarantee she’s helped me remain food stable with my limited budget ❣️
Is Knorr relatively "cheap" in comparison where you are? I'm in Australia and have to rely on companies that import it...and it's probably not as budget friendly as it would be in the country of origin.
@@Kayenne54 I'm in Australia, too. I've lived here for 2 1/2 years and was astonished when I moved here at the lack of choice in brands in grocery stores, and the lack of MANY ingredients that I could get anywhere in the USA.
We’ve always use Knorr boullion…Honestly people will find something wrong with everything these days 🤷🏼♀️ To each his/her own….Thanks for the recipes 😊
ITA and me too! Except I buy the cubes, and just chop up as needed lol. I'm a pretty good cook, and I think the flavor is great. Heck, even if I'm making homemade onion soup, I usually use a base of Knorr's for fuller flavor (both Beef or Veggie work great). I find some of the allegedly "better" bouillons have an overpowering flavor. I'd rather build mine up myself, regardless of the dish. The only thing I think is actually better are some of the boxed stocks, but I usually end up throwing most of them away, and I don't think they make that noticeable a difference!! With the cubes (or powder) you just make what you need!!
No you didn't! Girl, this is my new favorite channel. I posted on another video that I am a Southern girl married to an Australian- and living here in Sydney, there are SO MANY things that I can't get here that I LOVE and MISS from the USA. Thankfully, I can get all the ingredients here. I can't wait to try this! BTW, don't listen to negative comments about the bouillon. Haters gonna hate.
I love this! Tip-Instead of crushing up the thin spaghetti noodles go to the Mexican aisle and get fideo and use that it's already thin little tiny pasta pieces! Walmart has them.
I been a usin' Knorr brand chicken, beef, tomato bouillion for about 75 years. It works for me. And many others. If'n y'all want to buy somethin else, buy it. But don't be puttin' down those of us that do and will continue. It works for us. Stop worrin' about others, y'all got a lot to worry about for yourselves!
Thank you so much. I’m a widow living alone, so I will package these in 3 individual jars. They will be a perfect addition to an easy single serving meal in my pantry❣️
When we went camping my mom would take a couple boxes of Rice a Roni (6 people) and chicken thighs cut in thin strips. She’d start cooking the chicken in the skillet for a couple minutes to get some browning and fond before adding the pasta/rice to brown. When it’s good and brown she’d add the water and seasoning and cook til done. One of my favorite meals that she unfortunately usually kept as a camping meal.
thank you for this video. I subscribed. This is gonna save me lots of money each month. When I make mixes, I write out the directions and tape them to the jar. Helps me and whoever else is helping in the kitchen. To make fast meals, I'll add leftover meat to the rice a roni mixes.
Thanks and welcome to the family! I write the instructions out if I’m giving them away, but I don’t for the ones I keep because I’m really the only one cooking around here lol😁
This is genius!! I'm stunned that you don't have more viewers. In an emergency situation, this literally could be a life saver. I just bought a mason jar sealer from Amazon. That thing is incredible! It vacuum seals your jars. It can't be used for regular canning, but it will be perfect for this. It charges with a usb charger and only cost like 15.00. Thank you SO much for putting this video out!!
I love my mason jar sealer! The funny thing though is the rice (if by itself) "pops" when I unseal the jar and several grains land on my counter - it always surprises me and makes me laugh!
What a great idea! It’s economical And I love the idea of not having store-bought chemicals I can’t pronounce in my food. Thanks for the idea and the recipes!!
Thank you!! A tip I once saw on RU-vid for creating tiny rice-a-roni size noodles - put the noodles in a zip lock bag and keep breaking off the long noodles over the edge of the countertop. I just push down hard with my hand to break them off until I have as many as needed.
I often reuse the Atlas 3 cup mason/canning jars. They use the regular lids and rings. The thin spaghetti is cheaper per pound than the mini Fideo. After a long battle with pantry moths I now move all my rice, bean, pasta, flour and potato flakes into jars; also keep mice out of my storage.
@@TalesFromAnEmptyNest I used to find the quarts on FB marketplace, or estate sales,, pints too. But the 3 cup (pint and a half) I could only find online until I realized some pasta sauces were using them.
Please pleaseeee, years ago, probably before you were born, we young mothers made mixes. We made baking mix and use that instead of bisquick, we made hot chocolate mix. I can NOT find any of the recipes anywhere! Do you have them?
@@TalesFromAnEmptyNest The Tightwad Gazette has recipes for flavored coffee mixes, Bisquick, etc. I love saving money and it's healthier too. It's costs more at first but look at what you have left for yourself.
Can’t wait to put this together! Right in time. My family is leaving on Thursday to head to Virginia to celebrate my 75th birthday. My grandchildren will love this. Easy to bring with us. Thank you. Just found you on RU-vid.
I found you two days ago and went out the next day to get the stuff to make these. These are awesome and the portion is perfect for my house. Every time I cook rice I use one cup. I can’t wait to try all three. Thank you, a new fan. Blessings. I am going looking for more.❤️
I've watched a few videos and first want to say thank you for providing the recipe and not charging for a cookbook or having people sign up for an email. Also I wish I had this recipe when my kids were younger, I would make 2 boxes each time I made Rice a Roni and this would have cut my budget by so much. I will be sharing this with my adult kids so they can have it too. P.S. I love your videos.
I don't use the dry ingredients for the chicken flavored rice dish. I sauteé 1 cup of rice, 1 cup of the short pasta (Ronzoni makes it) with some onion flakes and after I add the water, a teaspoon or 2 of Better Than Bullion paste. Comes out delicious!
I find very helpful I braked them in half and put in kitchen towel and knights like dough , it’s all together in one place. In time when you need vermicelli but all you have spaghetti.😅
I’ve always wanted to make that. Saw a video months ago and never thought of making it from scratch. I used to make rice a roni for many years. Will have to try that! Great prepping in jars 👍Looks delicious 😋
I like to give home made gifts for Christmas. I think this will be a nice addition. I made a batch of the chicken recipe yesterday. Wowzers!! It tastes outstanding, really!
I love Rice-a-roni. Will definitely try this. Could you use orzo instead of vermicelli? It's a different shape, but it is tiny. Or just put the vermicelli in a plastic bag and wail on it with your meat tenderizer hammer thingy. Get out some frustrations at the same time.
I love this so much!!! I loved Rice a Roni (the beef especially) so much growing up, but I don’t like it since they added the dehydrated carrots (blech) and I don’t like the chicken flavor any more. I’d suggest for the vermicelli (or angel hair) to break it a bit, and then put in a ziplock bag and run over it with a rolling pin (or smack it a bit with a smooth pot bottom) like you were making graham cracker crumbles. I personally love the Knorr Chicken seasoning, it has a great taste. I imagine that it’s a salt bomb, but my sodium runs low, and I love salt. But if others don’t, there are likely healthier alternatives out there. You do you, boo. Edited to add: it really tastes so much better if you brown the rice/vermicelli in some butter…gives it a nice nuttiness!
I find the noodles in the Mexican section of the store. Unfortunately I have celiacs so mine have to be gluten free. I use gluten free orzo pasta. Works great!
These are great recipes, thank you! @shellyboggs9093 is there a particular brand of gluten-free orzo you use? I'm wondering if a higher-protein GF pasta could work here.
0:14 Dear Friend, hello. I am a new viewer and subscriber. I am a older senior. Please could you show me jow to make a beef gravy mix. The packages my visiting nurse Kelley buys me is making ill. Please could you show us that recipe. I would really appreciate it. I love beef gravy, its my favorite. Thank you Lass. Gods Blessings to you and your family. Ann👵🏻 ps yellow rice mix also.
Yellow rice is on my list, so that will be coming soon. I have a video with the brown gravy mix already. Here is that link for you ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TaWScsnNvnw.htmlsi=kZ039Mej0AIkPG1D
Well, this is amazing. I will get out my Vermicelli and mason jars just as soon as I get up from my nap :) I see that you try to reply to your viewers even after having over 22K subscribers! Tammy, I hope you prosper on RU-vid and have fun! Thank you!
This video got my subscription! I can't wait to browse your channel! This is an amazing idea! I've always made my own Rice A Roni, but the way you've packed it up makes it that much easier! And I ❤ Knorr bouillon 🎉
Some GOOD bullion is called " Better than Bullion" it lives in the fridge after its opened , its a paste. I LOVE this stuff , it makes really really good gravy. ( im horrible at gravy so i cheat with this bullion and corn starch) this bullion is sold at most stores , i get mine from Walmart.
Love these! Tell the haters of Knorr to kick rocks. I love better than bullion, but Knorr is so much cheaper and it works! These would be great for homemade Christmas presents!
Oh I love your ideas! But I thought oh my someone finally came up with a Decent Family Serving Size of your version. Any hoo I just wanted you to know that I’d cook this All at once. Then turn the leftovers into Chicken Fried Rice! Thanks
I'm going to try this with glutenfree pasta. I wonder if I can use instant rice... I admire your take on ricearoni. I have a vacuum attachment that works for canning jars, will extend shelf life. I have missed that stuff since I had to go glutenfree.
I buy that Knorr Caldo De Pollo bouillon by the gallon and I use it almost daily, love this flavor.. it’s great for canning too; thanks for the video it is sure helpful
Hey that's pretty awesome thank you I'm a new subscriber. It's nice to see things like this that we can make ourselves at home without all that added preservatives and junk we don't need.
Im curious to know how much it costs to make these. I haven't even bought a box of rice a roni in yrs. Its just too much for me for a meal. I'm a widow and I was thinking of cutting the ingredients in half when i cook them. I'd be getting twice as many meals from one jar. This might be a solution for me. 😊
I managed to cook until retirement age without ever having rice-a-Ronni either served to me or cooked by me. I learned something new today. Thank you very much. I will incorporate this meal and also adapt for flavoured rice which is a favourite meal in this house. Making flavoured rice at home from pantry staples will be much more economical than even purchasing the remeasured packages on sale. Also I did not know that tomato bullion existed thus I will look for that product at a larger grocery store in my region. Every shopping trip requires vehicle travel and several hours which necessitates buying in bulk.
This is brilliant. I'm going to batch up some jars and give them to family to take home when they come over. There's way less junk in this than the boxed kind.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe! Also, would mind sharing where you purchased your wooden salt and pepper container? I would love to purchase one just like it. Thanks!
I must say i have always enjoy having rice a roni from a long, long time. I love you home made recipe and i will be try it out. Thanks for sharing... xoxoxo...❤
@@TalesFromAnEmptyNest hum....i dry vacumn seal lots, think ill try with your recipes as all ingredients are dry and possibly add say dried chicken when I open to use. I'll reseal the jars and I'll mark the dates and see how they are doing in 1 year, then every 6 months. It may seem like an effort but not really, as long as I remember to keep up with dates of use. Thank you so much for spurring ideas!!
Great recipes we grew up with! Perfect for long-term food prep without a lot of added chemicals. And sealed, each jar should last a long time. I figure the use by date would be the same as the use by date on the rice and noodles. Thanks for doing the work!
Oh wow you've done it again all these great ideas for me to make and stock my pantry. All 3 of these are my favorite so I know homemade will be even better!! Can't wait for another freezer meal prep video! ❤😊❤
I have a huge bottle of Knorr bouliion too. I need to get beef bouilion. This way is so much easier than making it fresh every time. This way its already prepped. 😊
