It’s that lady time of the month and I’ve been so incredibly nauseous that my appetite has suffered tremendously these last three days. I woke up craving cinnamon rolls this morning so I followed your recipe and prepared that. And while they were still baking I got a craving for soft pretzels. And as I swallowed my last bite of cinnamon roll, I was already preparing to bake some wheat bread (another recipe of yours I saw yesterday) for French toast (which might need a few days since it tastes better with older bread). By the looks of it, I’m going to finish an entire bag of flour in one day.
I made this recipe again because it is so easy and they taste absolutely delicious. Instead of using salt on the pretzel I made pizza pretzels adding store bought pizza sauce and a mixture of mozzarella and old cheddar cheese. Fantastic! Thank you Laura.
1 ½ cups of Water at 110 degrees 1 Tbsp of Sugar 1 ½ tsp of Salt 1 package of Dry Yeast 2 Tbsp of melted Butter 4 ½ to 5 cups of All Purpose Flour 6 cups of Water 1/3 cup of Baking Soda Egg Wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp of water) Kosher Salt for topping
I gave this recipe a try having tried several others. This is the only recipe that I will take the time to write a comment upon. Why? Because its simply fabulous. So far, it's the ONLY recipe that produces soft pretzels both inside and out. Perhaps even softer than Auntie Annie's LOL! perfect colour and texture (Shame I cannot upload pics on here). Well done Laura, sterling effort for all of us mere wannabies!! Thank you.
omg I made this and ik I did something wrong with shaping these and making them but I just mixed everything and had it rise and I made them to big and they still tasted better than store bought ones thanks for the delicious recipe and im only 11 and made these alone wow ! I also made cinimon sugar ones mmmm thanks
Dear Laura, I thank you very much for your great recipes. I admire your hard work and your beautiful personality! (humble, sweet and loving person). GOD bless you with good health and prosperity, to you, your husband and family. :)
This was so good ! Had to make it twice because the first time I thought it was not that cooked according to her measurements and they turned out rock solid! Made it a second time and followed every step and omg ! It was perfect! Follow the recipe , don't skip any step because everything is worth it!
These were truly amazing! Thank you so much for posting this! :) For those who are wondering, I package of yeast is about 2 and 1/4 tsp. I added that much of yeast and the pretzels were great.
my hubby gifted me kitchenaid for Christmas. I love it. I wait till they have a sale on the assessories and pick some up. it's a worthwhile investment.
i.imgur.com/K86MWNb.jpg My boyfriend and I made them together, and they turned out GREAT really easy, and we were super surprised at how good they turned out cosmetically, and taste wise. (the link is a photo of ours)
brian riback ~ If you tried to activate the yeast in just salt and water you will not get real good results. The sugar, salt and water work because it is only used to activate them for 5 min and then the flour and butter are added, it dilutes the salt to the point it wont affect the yeast...
For this, I didn't use the pretzel ingredients, but I did use the boiling water and egg wash technique, and out of all the pretzel recipes that I've done this was by far the best! They didn't last for 2 days my family loved them soo much! Thanks so much!
Yes! I tried it recently. You can take out a bit of the salt and/or add a bit of sugar & vanilla extract to the dough recipe and mix sugar and cinnamon or if you have, use vanilla sugar to sprinkle on top of the egg wash before baking.
I can't get my yeast to rise is there something wrong?!?!? I did put it in hot water with the salt and sugar I had to start all over 2 times already ! Please help is it because of ageing WHAT IS IT!!! please respond A.S.A.P ( As Soon As Possible ) Thank you !
Use a thermometer to measure the water. It should be 110-120 degrees. Also, don't use salt. Salt kills the yeast. And don't forget to stir the sugar, warm water and yeast together, cover the bowl with a towel, and let sit for 5 minutes.
I made these tonight Laura and they turned out fabulous!!!!!!!! I used my bread machine to mix and knead the dough for me and it worked perfect with your recipe! these are oh so yummy :D thank you!
Hi Laura, I just made this n they came out awesome. I used half of the dough n wrapped jalapeño cheddar sausages. The other half was cinnamon pretzel w homemade caramel sauce. Thnx for the recipe n God bless u
please why dont you just tell us the measurments in the video? I don't like hunting for the recipe on websites. kinda makes the video pointless and disappointing.
***** I would rather see it. So I can visually see how it'll look when it's done by hand n how long it'll take. I'm a visual person and I don't have other people to help me :(
When we were travelling in the U.S. last summer, my son always asked for Auntie Ann's soft pretzels. He missed them when we came back home, so I tried your recipe today. The soft pretzels were amazing, and my son really loved them! Thanks, Laura. Hugs from Taiwan.
Laura...you make everything look so easy...I will be trying trying them..although I shouldnt cause I'm a flooper when it come to the kitchen..but. you make it look like even I can do them.....love watching your videos...
I take it back. I made these just like the recipe and boiled for 1 minute. They were the best soft pretzels I've ever had... and I kneaded the dough by hand! Couldn't be more grateful for the recipe!!
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I want to say that it was sometime around 2010 that I tried this recipe and omg it is super yum. I family loved it and so did my family. For some who may just be cruising for a pretzel recipe, yal definitely should try this.
Laura, I live here in Germany close to Frankfurt in a small town. I started going to the Bakery after dropping the kids off at school. I purchase one Bretzel (Pretzel) but they are just not that great. So since I know how to cook I tried your recipe but with German 405 Mehl (Pastry flour) and WOW!!! super soft inside, chewey on the outside. I don't have a mixer so I had to knead by hand. My wife will love my strong arms. Mr Vitale: I hope you worship the ground this woman walks on! :}
I like the way she explaining thing. It might look like she blabbing all over the place but really when u look into it carefully she's really explain thing thoroughly. This is really a helpful thing for those who has never experienced in cooking. Thank you. You're doing great.
Making these were so easy and tasted exactly like the malls. I love them. I froze them after cooking on the cookie sheet pans then put them in baggies. When I want one I pop in microwave for 1 min and sit back to enjoy this special treat. Thanks for making it fun and easy.
