i always hated using sunscreen because i hate the idea of putting potentially toxic, harsh chemicals on my skin and near my mouth and eyes. I think i'm going to love using this. It looks like it could even be a daily moisturizer during off seasons with a little less zinc for light sun protection. thanks for sharing this!
Yes! It is based on my homemade lotion recipe, which is basically the same thing without zinc. Or like you said just really light zinc if you want to use it for light protection. We love this stuff!
Hey, I am also very much afraid of using market products which are full of chemicals! This recepie is definetly going to help me a lot. Thanks a lot :)
I think the container itself needs to be 3oz or smaller as well per the TSA regulation, but you can put it into multiple 3oz containers as long as it all fits into a one quart clear bag. Don't quote me on this, you can look it up online, TSA lists the liquid guideline online pretty clearly.
Thank you! I break down the SPF of each ingredient here: theduvallhomestead.com/homemade-sunscreen-safe-for-babies/ but for comparison to store bought sunscreens to me this feels like about SPF 20. However, the more zinc, the more SPF. So if you want a higher SPF or you’re spending just more more time in the sun, you can either add more zinc to the recipe or just reapply the sunscreen every few hours. That’s what we do and it works great, no burns for us.
@@jarbafarnaz7999 rubbing it in a lot can help with the white tones. Even on my white skin it does require more rubbing in than store bought creams. That being said one option you have if you have a really dark tone would be to add cocoa powder, that would help darken the color naturally.
@@TheDuvallHomestead Wow adding cocoa powder! I'm tan actually like the brown Indian. Thanks a lot for such an idea! I will update you on the amount of cocoa powder ratio after I use this. you are such a lifesaver 💚
For a hot in full sun day, I would say 2 to 3 times. For intermittent and light sun I will probably just do once. Kind of have to figure out what works for you.
