Homemade fish snack with broken caviar, a suitable recipe for St. Nicholas Day. Very easy to prepare and very tasty. Great appetizer for a drink and addition to a main fish dinner.
Ingredients:
4 slices of white bread (without crust)
2-3 cloves of garlic
1/2 medium onion
1 tsp white pepper (maybe black)
1/2 lemon - juice and peel
about 200 ml of oil (in the beginning I put 60-70 ml and then another 120 ml)
200 ml of hot water
1 tbsp. salted fish caviar
My caviar is home canned. Fish caviar is cleaned, washed and placed in a glass jar. One row of caviar, one row of salt, again caviar again salt until the caviar is finished and ends with salt. So the jar goes in the fridge and when the caviar turns orange it is ready. Thus prepared it can stay in the refrigerator for 1 year.
It can also be prepared with caviar bought from a store.
