Homemade Vanilla Extract 

Let’s make vanilla extract! Simple to do, and a lovely gift for your friends who enjoy cooking.
You need:
Glass jar (8-10 oz is perfect)
1 oz whole vanilla beans (split or chop the beans to shorten extraction time)
8 oz of good vodka or rum. I used Kirkland’s French Vodka Captain Morgan rum in White, Spiced and Coconut flavors
Put 1oz beans in jar, add your alcoholic spirit. Close tightly. Store in cool dark location for at least 6 months (when using split or chopped vanilla) or up to a year or longer when using whole beans.
