What you could have done was to put back on the stove, with a little more hot water to melt down.at least I would have done that, to make it easier. However you stuck with it, and it turned out great.BRAVO!
This is why I use soap nut shells. I just grind them in a spice grinder and add my 1 teaspoon powder and for dirty loads 3-4 tablespoons of borax, for whites I add some baking soda. I add a couple of drops of essential oil to the conditioner drawer to make it smell good. I use an old stocking to put my ground soapnut shells in.
So glad to watch this! I have been thinking of making this for a long time, and it is really valuable to see what happens when it doesn't work exactly the right way. You and April really made my day!
Maybe putting it in the blender container would work better next time. Thanks for sharing, that’s very relatable to our attempts at learning a new skill. Love to all!!❤
LOL!, thanks for sharing :O) I'm glad to know these things don't happen to just me. Kind of you to share issues that can arise. Lesson learned :O) I'm headed to the kitchen to whip up a batch . I'm laughing with you not at you. Thank You !!
I just made a batch this afternoon. Went by your directions exactly, except I wasn't able to turn my jars upside down because the jars leaked. Also had to use pint jars instead of quarts. I need to invest in some quarts. The third tweak was, I used a stick blender since my other blender doesn't work that well. Amazingly enough it whipped up good. I hope it stays whipped and doesn't harden. And I hope it cleans laundry good. I usually make the liquid laundry detergent since it is more cost effective then the dry. But had to try this because my last attempt was disasterous.. I used my own homemade soap so we'll see how it works. Peace and Blessings;
also using the stick blender works even better to be honest not everyone is licky enough to own a stick blender so I made it in the blender in the video lol
I stick blended it up the next day because it was a little too firm. It works great though except on certain types of stains. I guess I will have to use a stain remover before I wash them again
+Judy Herman I use a pre treater myself but I have experimented a bit since this video and im now adding peroxide to the mix or I add it directly to the stain and it works wonders just keep it in a dark container not one the light can penatrate. im glad this is working for you
I would recommend to mix half the jar at once if this happens again thus it will mix up more easily. Your video got me smiling and laughing............................I enjoyed it!
I applaud your determination and efforts!! It was a fun laugh to see you make it for us!! I know you taught us many lessons in this one video lol!! I cant wait to make some!! TFS :) Have you tried the dish washer tablets??? I want to try those too!
I loved your video. It was informative and hilarious. The recipe is perfect for people who live in small apartments. Does it work well with cold water.
Now I wish I had a video of my soap volcano from my first soap making experience. Life is boring if everything goes as planned. Love your videos. Do you the same amount for the front load washer?
Thata what I use now. Back then I had 9 children loving at home still . If I remember correctly I let it sit too long and by the time I got to it it had thickened up lol
I love this whipped version!!! I do add oxiclean and purex mountain spring crystals(1 cup each) to my recipe. And I love fels naphtha vs the soap only because I like the smell better. They both work well.
I only use 4 cups of water vs the 10. I get about a gallons worth after whipping with my stick blender. I make my own hand soap, but I really prefer fels naphtha in my laundry soap. This is the best laundry soap ever! It works so much better then any commercial laundry soap.
I don't know if you know this, but those crystals and scent boosters are basically just salt and fillers to carry the fragrance. You could easily make them yourself with Epsom salts and essential or fragrance oil. :)
Is this an exact 5 ml teaspoon measure? I only ask because most of the whipped recipes call for a Tablespoon. But I think you use double the amount of bar soap... If so, it will be enough for 768 loads of laundry! That's awesome.
if you you Zote soap, it already has brighteners in it. If you add oxyclean in it, it will be activated since it react with water. Better add the Oxy directly in the washing machine
