What can I tell ya, I should have built something like this sooner. I need to tweak it a bit but for now, it gets the job done. Enjoy!

Like the saw buck a lot! Hard to beat simple. Cool how it folds up!

So far so good, need to add a brace so it stops at a certain point when it unfolds. Thanks again for the saw! Keep cuttin'!

Great job Travis. You may want to add some chain between the legs to keep it from unfolding. Thanks for the hard work.

Haven't had a sawbuck for many years. They do work but I migrated to a longer bar and cutting smaller tops and secondary wood by placing it on top of other logs or rounds. Definitely useful though and doesn't take too much space.

Is that what they're called, a 'sawbuck'? Curious. Keep cuttin'!

Very handy, I'll have to make one. New chains get ruined fast in the dirt.

Nice job Travis! I’m a fan of using a saw buck! Now you need a pickaroon to move all the new bucks around!! Great video! Best, - J.Andre. / Old Iron Acres

You made a very nice homemade “sawbuck”. I’m sure through your trial and error corrections will be dealt with. 👍

Through comments I am now learning of the term 'sawbuck', thank you for confirming. Definitely useful. Keep cuttin'!

On the bottom part of the top v, add a block to even the sides of the v, add bracing straight accross. It gives you more stability and a nice flat too, convenient for doing several logs at a time. Otherwise you did everything else just dandy! Add that and yours will be nice and sturdy for years of use.

They're good for 1 log get more the logs And they start to fall and pinch the chain
@travisdoesfirewood
@travisdoesfirewood 2 месяца назад
All true, Joshua - good point. Unless you made a larger, more robust sawbuck and then you can put several logs on at a time and buck them all at once. Thanks again for watching, keep cuttin'!

I'm thinking about making something similar for at home. I'm still working on a design that works for me.

Hey Kenny. When I made mine I put two sets of crossed 2x4s a couple inches apart. Made my cut in between and w two the pieces didn't fall on the ground. I could send pics somewhere but with the use and about 20 yrs ago it's fallen apart. And cross them more than halfway up. It was a beast, I was able to make 5 cuts plus what hung over the ends

Keep us posted, Kenny. Keep cuttin'!

Five cuts?! Sounds like it was very sturdy. Love to see the design. Keep cuttin'!
@brandonhoad9033
@brandonhoad9033 2 месяца назад
@@travisdoesfirewood take what you've got and add another cross a couple inches from those. Cut in between. Then you won't have to pick pieces up off ground. Think it was 5. Just used 8ft 2x4s. It made 5 chunks, so 4 cuts

Look up Tibertuff Chainsaw Buddy. Cutting logs on the ground sucks for sure. I used to have a 4 long log about 32 inch tall with a vslot and a bungy to hold a small log to keep the log off the ground to process small logs. Dont be Chainsaw Charlie and buck with foot lol You know I never use measuring tool for firewood,I use the saw ,go grom the end of the stinger to a point 15 inches forward and then twist and eye the spot and cut works well.
@travisdoesfirewood
@travisdoesfirewood 2 месяца назад
Ah that thing is cool! Maybe I can get one on the channel. Ha ha, "Chainsaw Charlie" - that's a good one, I'll remember that. Everyone cuts different. I try as much as possible to cut at 16" bc I'm selling the wood and I want pieces to be uniform. But if you're burning in your own home, doesn't really matter. Thanks again for watching, keep cuttin'!
@cowshottv5867
@cowshottv5867 2 месяца назад
You just need some braces across the bottom of the legs i think Travis. And space the uprights to 16" some way so you dont have to measure anything. Keep up the good work bro
