Customer called us to change their overhead electrical service to their house due to the electrical mast damage from a storm. Inspector brought up that you need to feed the SE cable with its jacket not removed.
If you need to hire an electrician, please call us at 970-599-1872

round here only linemen reconnect the live service feeds, so the residential electrician can use whatever ladder he wants.

In California the rigid mast needs (2) structural supports, a minnie or unistrut strap....considering your the space you had to work with I dont know you could of done. I'm a commercial electrician and they make us build a rack support that would mount to the roof of the building to support the mast.

I have a friend who has a shop that was wired with something like number 10. It goes back to a panel which has sufficient wiring but this shop is running welders table saws lots of woodworking equipment and they are asking for it. The ground is more Rocks than dirt. Could I somehow run this from the panel up and over? Do you have any videos on such a project? By the way I'm about twice your age but I would still humble myself and work with you for a couple of years you know what you're doing. That's coming from a general of 40 years! Good work🌞

Can’t believe your have an aluminum ladder! Try a #2 al for cold water and phase it green.

Yah, If they made a fiber ladder like this Little Giant, I would be all over it. LOL> Power was off when I did this service change. Safety First. !! Yah, ALM on a copper pipe seems Dis-similar to me and even though it does not have power or current on the water electrode, I feel that it could cause a copper / Aluminum reaction over time. The last thing I would want is to eat a small hole in their main water line.

Peterson Electric Your using a cold water clamp just add nolox on conductor. If you wanna use copper it’s your money.

Do you always have to bond cold water line? When you do service replacement?
@dereks.6783
@dereks.6783 3 года назад
Yes, you have to connect your main grounding conductor to within the first 5’ of where the copper water line enters your home and don't forget to jumper around the water meter.

Point #1: Why in the world is he using a steel ladder?!! Isn't that extremely dangerous?!! He of all people, being a professional electrician should know better, regardless of his educational and experience level!! No excuse!! No justification!! Point #2: Why are there two (2) power sources to a residential home, I never seen that before?!!

Hi, awesome video so if i have 125 subpanel i can install #2 cooper wire with 100 amp breaker?
@Petersonelectricllc
@Petersonelectricllc 4 года назад
#1/0 ALM SER for 125amp.
@dereks.6783
@dereks.6783 3 года назад
You can use 3 AWG copper ( believe it or not, 3 AWG is very available) as long as the lugs and breaker are both rated at 75 Degrees C (which most are). Eventhough the sub panel is rated at 125 Amps, you would size your wire according to the breaker you feed it with.

Just out of interest, why don’t you bury the cables?

keep costs down. and it's often the utility company that decides on overhead vs digging.
